The food here was really, really good. The housemade fries and bread pudding were particular standouts, and of course the sweet & sour cabbage was great. The service however left a LOT to be desired. There were only ourselves (2 ppl) and another table of 4 in the restaurant for most of the evening. Still, service was slow and the... More

For a place to get a drink and relax after a hard hike in the RMNP, the Appenzell Restaurant and Pub is wonderful. The outdoor patio rocks, the beer is great (try the Avalanche...), and the wait staff does a good job of keeping your glass filled, thank you very much. The issue we had was the menu is very... I wanted a Moscow Mule, called Hannah's Mule here. Whoops, No copper cup. Served in a water glass; honey vodka, club soda and lime. No ginger beer, honey vodka waaaay... More

We stopped in about 7:30 one evening. The restaurant was not busy. Most people were just drinking. We were instructed to seat ourselves. We waited quite awhile for a menu. Then waited for our order to be taken. The menu was limited. We ordered a couple of hamburgers. The burgers were good with Appenzell cheese. We had only eaten Appenzell... More

After several hours of travel, we enjoyed the happy hour and fondue after checking in which was just a short walk from our room. The staff were friendly and attentive. Busy and bustling little pub & restaurant.

We stayed at the Appenzell Inn and their onsite restaurant was recommended to us at check in. We were told the trout was delicious! We walked over to the restaurant after getting settled into our room and opted to sit outside ready to order the trout. Looking at the menu decided to try other options! Small dining area but so... Make sure you go with people you like because it will take a long time to get served. But once you are served the food is really good. There is just one server and maybe there is just one person in the kitchen but they must be preparing everything fresh and individually. Bread pudding is to die for. French onion... More

We saw a sign that noted that Appenzell Inn had a restaurant and pub along with posting their happy hour specials. We decided to give it a try. Boy, are we ever glad we gave it a try. First off, the grounds are quite nice and peaceful. We decided to eat outside on their patio that was next to a... More

We stopped in one evening having passed this restaurant by for some time, and had a great meal. It's small, service was excellent the night we went, though on a busy summer weekend, all restaurants here can have service issues. I had the ruby trout en papillote, my husband the elk sausage. Both dinners were well prepared, tasty and they... More
