My daughter and I had never eaten Ethiopian food before and enjoyed our meal. We chose a variety so we could sample meats and veggies. I enjoyed the tea too!

If you like to try new things or are already an aficionado, Zemam's is well worth a visit. What this Ethiopian restaurant lacks in decor, it more than makes up with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. In my opinion, this is some of the best food of its kind outside of Africa. I recommend... More

This little restaurant is simply one of the best in Tucson. Located in what was probably one a house on Broadway, the restaurant is in several small rooms. It is casual, with an odd assortment of tables and chairs. The service is beyond friendly, you feel more like a guest in someone's home than a customer in a restaurant. The... More

I have lived in Tucson 18 years and have never eaten here, and today I decided it was time to do so. I could be wrong, but I think the building may have been a house at one time - at least that's how I see the layout of various small rooms where tables are set up. Pretty basic -... More

We ordered the sampler and the spinach dish. Red lentils and brown lentils and cauliflower. It came on an injeera 'lined' platter. Excellent and not oily. Extra injeera bread was also brought to the table. We couldn't finish out food although three of us shared. The owner is sweet and has a good sense of humor.

We love Ethiopian and look for restaurants when we are on vacation. Our son has Celiac and needs gluten free food. We called ahead and they assured us that with advance notice of a few hours they can prepare gluten free injera bread. We had an awesome gluten free meal complete with injera made of 100 percent teff!

I have been here in the past, and it still does not disappoint. The flavors are still there, they remain on your taste-buds. Especially if after the meal, you wrap up that Injera upon which your meal was served on (after it has soaked up the juices), and eat it like a tortilla. The owner is a friendly man who... More

Hadn't been to Zemam's for several years. Was afraid it might not live up to my memories. Nope, it was great. Lamb and beef was super tender, flavors were perfect. Much better than the Ethiopian places I've tried in the Denver metro area.

This was my first experience with Ethiopian food, and I was not disappointed! I loved the communal experience of everyone eating from the same platter. Unlike other cuisines where each guest has their own meal, this was a complete sharing endeavor. The injera was spongy and the flavors in the entrees were amazing.

I try all ethnic restaurants when traveling throughout the USA and Zemam's is at the TOP of the list for friendly service and outstanding flavorful food! All 4 of my kids love it too, its our 'go to' restaurant and has been for 16 years. The sampler platter is a wonderful way to try several different entrees and the juices... More
