The counter staff were very friendly; but be aware of the delay getting specialty coffees, a.k.a. latte. I counted the minutes between paying for the order and getting the coffee and it was over 30! Their system of serving and making coffee is not efficient.

For early birds heading down to walk when Riverwalk is quiet this is the best option. It was so good the first morning we can back the next. Alamo Benedict with brisket was an amazing original - on top of Texas toast with a spicy sauce instead of hollandaise.

Everyone said their food was fine, nothing special. They have outdoor seating, which was pleasant. Menu is sandwiches, soups, salads, typical quick lunch fare. There was a 15 minute or so wait to order at the counter, and they announced it would be 30 minutes to get served after placing orders. This seemed odd, as there was still seating available,... Set in one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Antonio, La Villita Cafe was a very pleasant surprise. The food was very fresh, and the prices very reasonable. Enjoyed a couple of lunches here. Loved the ambience,, and the location was easily accessible from either the Riverwalk or street level.

Located in the quaint La Vallita square. The food was good. We had breakfast tacos and pancakes. The cafe posts their hours from 8am-6pm, but don't expect them to open on time. They didn't open until 8:15am, and another patron said they opened late the day before as well. The cafe was very busy, and only 2 people working the... More

We went here for breakfast tacos (brisket). They were suppose to be with avocado but it seemed my husband's was missing the avocado. They were messy but tasty. We then toured the historic artist village and had fun going into the varied shops. Everyone was very friendly.

Cannot say enough about the pancakes! But felt like I could get this at home too. But the food was great and the coffee was amazing!

Guy behind the counter (may be the owner) but extremely welcoming and entire staff was great. Clean and atmosphere was spot on for the area! Food was good too; wife had ranchero eggs and lived them and I had 2 breakfast tacos....simple but great with homemade tortillas. We also splurged and got an apple fritter which was amazing! Great place... More

We grabbed lunch here one day. The menu is diverse, the portions adequate, and the food is good. The price was right too. Nothing foodie here, just good simple fare at a good price.

I had the Rancheros Plate. First, I asked for the eggs on a separate plate because I don't eat eggs and wanted to give them to my husband. They came on my plate. The refried beans and salsa were tasteless. The potatoes were bland, boiled, and burnt. I paid extra for avocado and got a tiny amount of what seemed... More
