The Guenther House was a pleasant surprise for Breakfast. This restaurant is located in the home of the Guenther family, who started the Pioneer Baking Company. There is dining outside on a patio or inside. Our breakfast was delicious. The biscuits are huge and fluffly. I ate the strawberry waffle. This is definitely a place to enjoy a one of... More

We didn't eat at the restaurant - though plenty of people were eating breakfast there & plenty were waiting patiently for their tables. We toured the home - only a few rooms are open to the public. We also visited the gift shop. We found not only plenty of mixes to take home, but also a number of cool kitchen... More

The Guenther House was one of our Alamo Trolley tour stops and we got off to check out their restaurant. It serves breakfast til 3:00 when it closes.. I believe hubby had a clubhouse sandwich which was served with potato chips and I had the Guenther breakfast platter which is biscuits and gravy, applewood smoked bacon and homemade preserves and... We arrived around 8:45 am on a chilly Saturday morning. The outdoor seating area was totally empty with 3 servers waiting for customers. The heat lamps were turned on and there were blankets folded across several of the chairs. Each blanket was threaded with a Guenther's logo. Despite how cool it was, two of the members of our party wanted... More

The food here was delicious - the baked goods are amazing - the biggest fluffiest biscuits I have ever had. But the wait time was really long. The estimate was 45 minutes to an hour but in reality is was 1 hour and 30 minutes before we were seated. They have a small museum and gift shop that you can... More

Based on rave reviews by many at our resort, my wife and I decided to take a stroll along the river to the Guenther House for brunch on a Tuesday morning. There was no line; we were seated immediately. The service was fine and the food was good (we shared an egg, potato & bacon burrito platter). The potatoes tasted... More

This historic mansion is on such a beautiful setting with the river and lush landscaping. The restaurant takes you back in time and the food is excellent. We had a breakfast full of maple and pecan flavors!

Hour wait on Sunday morning at 9:15 am...to be expected. It was sorta worth the wait interesting old house in King William District. Food was okay nothing exceptional remembering this is a food mill feeding hundreds at a time. Service was adequate for the setting and the price $ server was polite and sorta friendly and busy. Probably will not... More

We went as part of our tour of San Antonio. We waited an hour for a table and after that decided to go. It's a beautiful home with lovely grounds. Go, see it and purchase pastries and go. Don't try to eat at restaurant. Very slow.. Not that many people there got a one hour wait. We went down to... More

Its breakfast. Waffles, pancakes, eggs, biscuits & gravy, you know the drill. There is an upper limit to how good your entrée can possibly be. What puts Guenther House over the top is quality breakfast food, low price (Can't remember for sure, but it wasn't $30 for two), fast attentive service, a relaxing, pleasant setting, and good parking. You can... More
