Normally not a fan of Mexican food, La Fonda made me change my mind. The food was delicious, fresh and not greasy at all. Nicely presented on the plate. Very tasty Margaritas. We were seated on the large patio where the atmosphere is wonderful. You...More

We have heard about La Fonda for years and enjoyed our first visit. The food and margaritas were delicious, but not exceptional. Definitely recommend!

The food was delicious, we had mole enchiladas, skirt steak, and thoroughly enjoyed all dishes. The margaritas, salsa, and appetizers were great. Our waitstaff, Alexandria, was a delight. Friendly, prompt and explained the dishes in detail. All in all, an outstanding evening.

Trip advisor paid off on this great spot. We went for Sunday brunch and had a great time at this not so touristy Mexican fare restaurant. It has been there since the ‘30’s! That is a recommendation in itself. Located away from the river walk...More

Allen Flowers - They are very close, maybe 1/2 mile at most - southeast of La Fonda on McCullogh, which is parallel to Main and a block east.

Located just a few minutes from downtown in architecturally rich Monte Vista, La Fonda on Main is the oldest Mexican food restaurant in San Antonio. La Fonda serves both the best of Tex-Mex cuisine as well as authentic dishes of interior Mexico in a fun and casual setting with beautiful patio dining. Open daily serving lunch and dinner as well as a memorable Sunday brunch menu, we offer a full bar with a wide variety of liquor, beer and wine. Our famous margaritas are made with hand-squeezed limes and your choice of a large selection of tequilas.
