the fact that the Gateway was next door to our hotel, was a determining factor for sure! It was recommended by the folks in town as well. We ended up splitting a burger and it was very good. The menu was extensive and a bit pricey, but you kind of are a captive audience. We also had breakfast and it... More

After 4 years of extreme drought we finally have rain and snow in California. The dining on the outdoor deck at the Gateway with the river tumbling over the large granite boulders was always one of our favorites. With the mountains now covered by record amounts of snow it was time for a great lunch by the river. The Ruben... More

I don't know what we expected, but we were overwhelmed by the cuisine and service at this restaurant practically in a National Park/Forest. Incredible location, great views, delicious food, friendly, unobtrusive service. I wish it were local.

Took a drive to the Gateway restaurant to take pictures of the Kaweah River that runs next to it. Decided to have breakfast. I had the seafood crepes (with hashbrowns and fruit). It was very good. My husband and I had their Sunday brunch years ago and it's worth having (reservations a must). This quirky restaurant is located about a... More

Nice cozy (shabby chic-ish) good atmosphere. very nice meal, large steaks & local shrimps. After a long day at Sequoia and a few long drives grabbing In & Out burgers while we drove up from Coachella Valley we were really in the mood for a very good meal & a good steak! ! I grew up in the area and went to this restaurant a lot growing up. I live out of state now, but last week took my family to Sequoia National Park. On our way back, we stopped here to eat. Eating outside along the river was just as good as I remembered it. Staff was friendly. Service was a little... More

We stayed the night at the Gateway Lodge. The room for 4 adults was very tight but cosy and comfortable. We didn't want to drive out since it was late, so decided to eat at the restaurant. It's very expensive although servings were a decent size. Pork chops were dry and not much flavour. Despite not being impressed with the... More

My husband and I bought snow chains here for our winter visit to Sequoia National Park. Helpful staff, reasonably priced, and they showed us a how-to video for installation.

We wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of LA for the day. We were captivated by Sequoia national park. We wanted to spend the night. Our first stop was Gateway for a room. They were booked up but nice enough to make a call to a Freind at the bed and breakfast down the road (the Rio... More
