This bakery is amazing. Amber, a Paris trained, baker/ confectioner, offers amazing pastries and cakes. She does not offer the mundane bread and rolls, but slices of heaven! I referred to this place as a Konditorei because of the coffee and dessert opportunities. She does serve breakfasts such as avacado toast, crepes and French toast, but has tables outside. One would not think that this tiny town of Clarkdale, Arizona would have such a unique offering. She has two locations in town. The Caboose on Main Street open from 6 or 7 until 2.00 and the 2nd place on First South open from 2.00 to 4.30 pm. Wednesday is scone day. Check her out!

It's conveniently located in a railroad car in the Town Center .The parking was easy but it is a busy place. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The staff were attended and professional. It's a traditional French style bakery so you're gonna get what you pay for, the owners are using good quality ingredients in their pastries so it's more expensive than people are used to paying. Of course at first I always get a plain croissant to begin my judgment on the quality of the French bakery and their plain croissant was wonderful buttery, flaky and crisp and soft on the inside. Went well with my black dark roast coffee. The other days I went there I had their breakfast sandwiches with the croissant and they were great. They continually make different kinds of pastries. I enjoyed their cinnamon gooey roll one morning as well. Sometimes they run out and good for them because that means business is going well. On several days I was there I was lucky to get tables there is a local clientele that eats there because they know what good food is. She makes all kinds of yummy treats you can tell it's a labor of love. I talked to her companion a really nice man and he shared with me some of her history and love of baking. It's well worth the drive. Just be realistic if it's busy you may wait. I look forward to coming back again this winter. I kind of stalk the restaurant over the months that I'm not there and she just produces some wonderful stuff. It's locally owned and it's really great to support a locally owned business, especially one that's such a high quality as hers.

Stumbled upon this fine French inspired bakery on our way to the Verde Valley Railroad. The organic coffee was divine along with the their pastries. We ordered some turkey croissants that were to die for! The owner Amber walked past us multiple times to serve the other customers proudly showing us her amazing creations. Take the time to visit and enjoy her wonderful treats.

My wife and I have come here for many years when we are in the area, and feel the quality of Amber's creations is legendary! She is SO talented that the relatively high price is accepted, and we absolutely always schedule a trip here for sandwiches and pastries every time we come up here! HOWEVER, the Cafe was closed and re-designed in July and today was one of the absolute worst experiences in service I've ever had, anywhere. 40 minutes standing in line is crazy, and no menu to help speed things up (the entire menu has been changed from what it had been all ethese years, and all they now sell other than beverages is what is contained in the food display case). Even after waiting all that time to arrive at the food display and wanting to choose quickly so we could finally rest our backs.. . waited at least 3 minutes while the staff ignored us. Took food to our RV to eat, so we could finally relax, and found we received a pastry we hadn't ordered, rather than the one ordered. As much as we love Amber and Violettes, this is likely our LAST visit. Experience totally ruined our previously favorite Cafe!!! Sad.........

this is so sad, you say that you guys(as in you and your husband who left 2 reviews in a row…) liked my products, and like my business, and that you like me yet in front of the entire world, (as in this isn’t even National, it is a worldwide website…) pick apart literally every single thing you could think of that you don’t like about my business, from turkey sandwiches that we couldn’t even get a hold of turkey because of the bird flu -for a year!!! we literally could not buy turkey. To our music that a customer had turned down because they didn’t want to hear it… To the line,(thank God we’re busy ,we are a small woman ran an owned business. That I run around 17 hours a day. giving up any freedom I have or free time to do anything outside of the business… on top of being a mom; to keep my community that I love dearly, happy) you could have easily reached out to me on Facebook, or called me, and I would absolutely 100% no problem or questions asked give you your money back for the product that we accidentally switched out. No, you NEEDED to “hurt” me…. If you get a hold of me on messenger on Facebook. I can do Venmo. However, your rating was very contradictory as you and your husband both stated that you liked me and my products. our ratings are looked at by almost everyone that wants to try us so you officially were trying to hurt us. Because you posted this review on multiple platforms. copy/paste. If you read our hundreds of other reviews, they don’t sound like this, this literally went from our roof to our floor from the past to the future, covering every single thing you could think of. I wish you guys the best. Please get a hold of me via Facebook and I will Venmo your refund.

decided to stop here before our train ride based on the awesome reviews and had the worst experience. Waited in line for quite awhile to order since young gal working the cash register was having issues with the lady's order in front of me. when we ordered, same gal could not remember what we ordered (just two of us) and had no idea how to give change on the cash we paid. Baker came over and was extremely rude. My husband is very laid back and I haven't seen him that angry in a long time. After all that, our bakery items were not fresh and had no flavor - super dry and disappointing. Such a shame!

As the owner I would love to rate YOU. So I’m going to do what a lot of owners wish they could do. I was the “rude“ baker. I rate you as impetuous and entitled, In a huge hurry, no patience, and completely self absorbed. At the end of the day we donate all of our pastry. we make everything fresh every morning. So there is no way that our bakery items were not fresh, out of the hundreds of reviews we have on multiple sites that are all five star reviews, all describing our place and service as a completely different place than in this single review. We pride ourselves in service, our small town is extremely open and kind. And our café is known for generosity and kindness. On top of this, we have been written up in magazines, and even on a TV show for our traditionally made and authentic French pastry. We put our love into what we do. I clearly remember your stinky attitude. Rushing my poor daughter and making her feel inadequate, What a ridiculous way to act during these hard times. (my daughter was filling in because there is a shortage on employees in the service industry because of people like you, people don’t want to be servers right now, To be talked down to and snapped at) instead of being a “karen” maybe you should appreciate the people that are willing to serve you during Covid. not treat people like they are less than you. He was upset because you had absolutely no patience whatsoever. You treated my daughter like crap “cant you count?””kids today cant even count” After you handed her change and she re-figured it out once and then run it through and then you hand her more change…, like you’ve never made a mistake or had a first job. You came to my small town with a horrible attitude , Snapping your fingers and expecting people to jump. Ma’am, we are on mountain time…I don’t think it is us with the problem... anyone could read all of our reviews and see for themselves that this review is rare. this is obviously just bitter grapes.Did it make you feel good to get this out on the World Wide Web? ma’am, the young girl at the Register was on her first day at the register. She was being trained, and we left her alone for the first time. She was doing rather well when you pulled out extra change after she had already cashed your order out. The young girl was Violette, my daughter. Of which you thought as a customer you had the right to be rude to her. Acting like she was stupid because she couldn’t count back your change. she was nervous because you were making such a big deal. When I came up to the register to fix the problem, you still kept saying rude comments about us. pretending like you were so smart and we were so stupid. It was not your husband, if he was mad it was only because you were being a complete KAREN. If there was no flavor it’s because you had no taste. And as far as hoping that you come back… This is Arizona we have the right to refuse service. I hope that you don’t treat every service person like You treated my daughter, after the third rude comment you made to my child in front of me there is no way that I was not going to step in, but then you made rude comments to me. I will never allow that, I started this business pregnant, 7-12 hour days... nope wont allow ! be nice to the people serving you. Have a little more patience, you don’t know what everyone has been through and what they are going through, and God knows plenty of people have had patience with you!! I hope that no one else puts up with you and your rude comments, no one should have to.

This is an interesting cafe right in downtown Clarkdale. Ordering, food prep, and meal service is all done from a red caboose. Seating is outside. My husband had the waffle special and was happy with that. I ordered the Croque Monsieur. It was a sandwich of two slices of a type of sweet bread, a layer of bechamel sauce, slice of ham, and cheese on top. It was good except for way too much cheese, I thought, which seemed to overpower the sandwich. Otherwise it was fine. Seating is outside and there seemed to be plenty of spaces available. I don't know if the person who seemed to be in charge was Violette herself, but she was charming and very efficient. She wore a cute little beret and spoke to almost everyone after they were seated. She also brought out the orders and did some cleanup work. A nice, pleasant experience.

Thank you for trying Violet! we realized that the Croque Monsieur is a bit heavy for some… It is a recipe directly from Paris, what cheese and cream seem to be an everything I ordered :-) anyhow, next time you come try one of our light flaky croissant sandwiches that sounds more like your style! We appreciate the review and look forward to seeing you again! And yes the person in the Chef And Chef smock was me. I am the pastry chef and owner, and bake all of our pastries and croissant from scratch every morning. For the last six months it has been hard to find employees and I have been serving afterwards and then going back and working at the bakery again. Luckily we found a great server! So now I can focus on my baking More directly. (The life of a small business person) Please give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future! And let us know how we can turn that four star review into a five star! Us small business is depend on it, and I am more than willing to hear what you have to say! - Chef V

We were so looking forward to a nice French treat for breakfast but this no where came close. I wanted something substantial to eat but the rickety small tables would have made that difficult. We opted for one of every French pastry and not one was satisfying. First, the croissant pastry was not flaky at all. Worse was the filling was so scarce I had maybe two bites of filling and the remainder dough. Not many options in Clarkdale but I notice locals just drank the coffee.

We thank you for coming by, I do remember you, We are sorry that our food truck type establishment and small town culture are not what you expected. We have sold over 3000 of our French Pastries this month, not including our American style pastries and breakfast croissant. In total we have had over 130 perfect 5 star reviews. I take pride in my Paris training and French ancestry, as well as our Americana roots. I make everything from scratch myself. We do French , Belgian and American breakfast lunch and pastry and we our grateful for our humble beginnings! I started by selling 2$ pastry from my home and personally saved EVERY penny to buy our simple seating and cafe! I am a woman owner and built this business in a simple manner for a small town that I LOVE!!! I haven’t had this type of feedback as of yet. Id love for you to try us again. I bet you will enjoy the food and experience what our other clients have. Please ask for me. Bless.

The crepes are light and fluffy the Belgian Waffles are thick and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Eating here outside on the patio reminded me of sitting at a French café in the morning having an expresso and a pastry. I really think it is the outdoor experience that makes the meal so much more enjoyable.

This little out door cafe is a must visit. Everything we tried was delicious (some not pictured) . Let’s start with the delicious coffee (not to strong just perfect). Their cinnamon rolls are delicious (just melt in your mouth perfection). The crepes is the perfect thickness and the the filling was amazing. The Belgian waffle is out of this world (crunchy on the out side but soft on the inside). Their take on the avocado toast is delicious. Last but not least is their amazing customer service, I can’t say enough about how great the staff are. Definitely a must one of the best food establishments I’ve been to in a while.

Wanting to share space with the locals, I thoroughly enjoyed Violette's Bakery Cafe, having a pastry and a special coffee drink. The gardens are a bonus, and a heated "glass" tent was a lot of fun for watching the action outside. I think you will enjoy the total experience; I sure did!

My wife and I had the best breakfast on the road. We had the waffle egg sandwiches and did not regret our choices. Eggs, bacon and ham were tasty, but the waffles were fantastic. We ended up buying about 5 or 6 different pastries and ate them this week after we got home. Lots of local people supporting the restaurant. If we ever make it back to Sedona, we will make a special trip to Violette's just to have breakfast.

We visit Violette's every time we camp at Dead Horse Ranch in Cottonwood -- in fact, we visit everyday! The food is so delicious. The pastries are flakey and delicate. Violette studied in France and it is quite apparent. I have tried many different things on the menu and have been so very pleased with everything.

At 9 a.m., they were out of or never had croissants. The majority of their menu centers around croissants. I asked if they had a substitute bread, and the gal snapped."We are out of croissants". I asked if we could sit outside and eat and she again snapped "There's nothing stopping you". We left.

I am the owner and the pastry chef, I’m sorry that you felt like this was your experience… We have never been out of croissants at 9 AM. However I am the only one that bakes, it is a very small business… And morning pastries usually run out by 11 as they are “morning pastries“ then we usually move on to the coldcase that I am actually making well we are selling the morning pastries… Breakfast and lunch are served all day, we have one chef and as for baking, I do everything myself from scratch and by hand. I am a small woman owned business, and my employees are second to none… As you can see in our hundreds of five star reviews. I do not understand this review I almost feel like it may be for another business. I have not heard anything from my staff about this situation either. - Chef V

We stopped by for breakfast on Saturday morning and were not disappointed! We stayed in Cottonwood for the weekend and one of the shop keepers suggested we head there for breakfast. There was a line, but it went quickly, as did the food. The only room for improvement here is the seating situation. There are tables and chairs but the tables aren't clean and the ground isn't level. Otherwise, all good!

A destination for sure. If you are anywhere in Arizona you must eat hear. The food is fabulous, the staff are warm and welcoming. It is truest an experience. They are in an old caboose and have outside tables. There is a restroom for patrons if needed. Please note they are only open 8 am to 2 pm so breakfast of lunch only. You will not be disappointed.
