Excellent food that matches any good restaurant in New York City. We would return. The ambiance is elegant (maybe a little stuffy); the service is attentive (maybe a little too formal). Especially loved the quiet room. We were bummed by the wine pairing for the tasting menu - - would have really preferred to pick our own wine but the... More

We dined at Chef Mavro in Honolulu on 2nd January and had an absolutely memorable night. The food, décor and service was first rate and lacked nothing. My wife is Vegan and they catered for needs probably the best we had on a stay at Honolulu. We can't wait to dine there again again on our next visit.

We decided to splurge. Knew it was a top place with top prices, but our jaw dropped at the end of the evening. Six of us, tasting menu, premier wine pairing, Good service, lovely presentation, but VERY small portions. The women were fine, the men would have liked more than two bites in their main course. A bill of almost... More

Loved the food. It was a great night and they encourage substitutions but then had a hard time handleing them. Got lost on the wine pairings for a while as well. The chef came out and was fun. Nice atmosphere. Amazing food and very expensive.

Chef Mavro is beyond a good restaurant. He is known in Hawaii for pairing wines with the various courses. It is more than the food which is fresh and local, when possible. It is unique flavors, small portions and delightful. I recommend it if you have a high value for and enjoyment of good food and wines.

We enjoyed the Christmas Gala dinner. Greeted by hostess and Donna, his engaging and lovely wife. Dinner started with amuse busche of watercrest soap. Each following course excited and kept building the excitement of the evening. Lobster salad with a miso eggplant puree-incredible. Sumptuous Foie Gras with his signature figs. One of the best Foie Gras ever. A tasty onaga... More

We had been once before, so we were prepared for a good meal, but this one exceeded our expectations. Every course was delicious and the wine pairings were excellent. We ordered the 6-course chefs menu. The 5th course lamb was out of this world--tender and succulent. We ubered to the restaurant, and I'm glad we did! The layout of this... More

I had read good things about this restaurant and wanted to try it. A friend took me to dinner here and we didn't look at the menu ahead of time so be aware that it is costly but it is so worth the price. You have the choice of a 4 or 6 course meal and they offer wine pairings... More

Our exceptional dinner started with a delicious watercress soup and ended with an even more delicious dessert of coconut shave ice with yummy condiments. Each and every course tasted fresh and healthy, a definitely lighter cuisine than the traditional French cuisine. I have some food allergies and they were very sensitive to them and adjusted some of the ingredients and... More

While I considered Chef Mavro as more of a special occasion dining option in the past, I've decided that the experience is just too good to not to go more often! The menu is creative, the food is delicious, the service is superb and Chef Mavro is a pleasure to chat with when he pops out to the front of... More
