Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Every time I'm in Nairobi I try to have at least one meal at the Cape Chestnut. An adorable, small restaurant with tables on a covered patio that features just a few home cooked entrees. The food is good, well priced, the place is quiet...and friendly. Be sure to check out the small shop adjacent to the restaurant that carries hand embroidered and hand painted napkins and table cloths and pillows.More

Excellent service and food seeved in a peaceful garden setting. We went for the 'curry lunch' special on a Sunday and there was a wide choice, enough to suit everyone. Tasty food and not overspicy or oily and the owners were there supervising. Recommended but...they onloy open for lunch and I think Friday evening.More

Lunch items are almost always delicious - I think I have tried many. But the best ever was the Tuna Fish Cakes last week. Crunchy on the outside, smooth on the inside, slightly spicy, not fishy but good tuna taste. The best I have ever...had. And still - the best coffee in town.More

We were travelling from Nairobi to Meru and decided to stop over for breakfast. We made a reservation in advance, so that we do not have a long lay-over, and the owners were happy to accommodate us. The restaurant is set in a serene environment...and has an interesting wall completely built out of used glass bottles. The tables comprise mainly of benches set out on the terrace and garden, allowing you to enjoy nature at its best. The kitchen and bar area is house by an old colonial house, that is full of character. The breakfast was filling, but it wasn't very exciting - I think this could be improved on.More

Best Tapas this side of the equator! Delicious food and such a homely atmosphere....the most exciting part is that you never know what will be on the menu...but meals deliver every single time.

I had been to Cape Chestnut years ago and was pleasantly surprised to see the changes... only made the experience better....the essence of great food with impeccable service from owner and staff was still intact. I went to lunch there twice and would have come...more often - as it was well worth the 2-hour drive. The Sunday Curry Lunch was delicious and though the place was crowded the owner and staff gave us flawless service. I hope to be returning there many more times in the future!More

I really enjoyed visiting this restaurant. There are beautiful gardens to relax in, the lunch I had on both occasions was delicious, the coffee was great and the home-made biscuits well worth a try! Great service and a lovely location - I would certainly return.

I had been to this place before, and it just keeps getting better. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by trees and serenity. On the day I was there, they had a delicious steak with mushroom sauce that was to die for. I accompanied it with...a very good house red wine. My friend had a chicken salad and he cleaned his plate. The service is great, and the owners are wonderful ladies who are very involved in the community.More

The best part about staying at the El Karama bandas with a group of 29 people was - undoubtably - the food. The outside catering by Cape Chestnut was outstanding. Thank you so much.

Never disappoints. A small high quality menu of 5 or 6 dishes and normally a dessert, and ice cream option. Lots of seating options (totally inside, semi outside covered or out in the garden. A little playground for kiddies. Service is friendly although on super...busy days you might have to hunt a waiter down. Monthly curry and roast buffet (you choose which you want) are also delicious.More
