We went to Sottovento Restaurant for a dinner and that was a very good choice. The restaurant was very quiet, very Italian and classy looking, just beautiful. The food was really tasty and the service was very helpful and lovely. From appetizers to the main dishes and finally deserts - all of them were delicious. An excellent restaurant with nice... More

On a recent visit to these beautiful islands north of Sardinia, the captain of the boat we were on, a Maddalena local, suggested we go to Sottovento to try the roast pig, a local specialty. Nice interior, good service and choice of local wines, lovely dessert, but the pig with roast potatos was fantastic. Thanks to Massimo!

Excellent place in la Maddalena, the best restaurant of the island. From appetizers to the meat and fish, dishes are mastered from the most simple ones (bread, cheeses) to delicate meat sauces and amazing frying techniques (light frying). We had to come back to try more dishes! A must-go in la Maddalena.

A quiet intimate setting off the main drag Friendly professional service. Delicious preparation of local cuisine. Very quiet, no smoke , and a really nice collection on the menu. If you want good food prepared with artistic flare that gives you a sample of what Sardinia is , this is the place. Easy to find, very classy .

Unfortunately my experience was not pleasant in this restaurant. The bread basket contains old bread at the bottom, on which fresh bread has been added. I could have bought the salad I was served in a supermarket... And all of this is overpriced... To be avoided!

My husband and I felt that this restaurant was a cut above some of the others . His pasta was very tasty and I had swordfish with vegetables that was terrific. Portions were huge. The saedas, a very unique Sardinian dessert, was one of the best that we ever tasted. Light and lemony !

Went here a couple of times and enjoyed both occasions. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the gluten free provision excellent. Would recommend.

This restaurant was recommended by our guide book and therefore gave it a try. First course (pasta) was very good but main fish course below average. There was no fresh fish on that day apart from swordfish fillet - this came in a plate that was placed under a heater and was dry and overcooked. Wine list good and extensive.... More

Great food, friendly service, staff able to speak English. We had the squid ink pasta and tuna tartare which were both great. The warm flat bread brought out in the beginning was a nice salty treat to start with. Reasonably priced and would recommend visiting if you are looking for a dinner in La Maddalena.

Since it is low season and midweek, it wasn't very busy apart from a group of 7 or 8 who appeared to be locals which is always a good sign! The general condition of the restaurant and furniture is good and clearly important to the owner, I have noticed that some other restaurants are a bit run down in this... More
