I really am struggling to understand the hype about this place. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t awful, but it certainly WAS NOT worth $30 per steak. This most definitely tasted like some Applebees cheap steak. I don’t mind cheap steak when I’m paying for...cheap steak. This steak wasn’t cheap, especially considering how cheap most things are on this island. I got the steak with mustard sauce thinking it would be a great mustard cream sauce (as the description states ) but that sauce was just mustard. Straight up mustard. Now I don’t mind mustard but it is a super strong flavor that over powers the $27.50 tenderloin with each bite. My husband got the “Associação” steak. He got the 300gr tenderloin which was supposed to be “Fried Steak flamed with white wine, garlic and salted pepper.” It tasted like sirloin steak with some beef bouillon sauce. Seriously, this was NOT WORTH the money.More

Was recommended this place by Azoreans living in the NYC area. All the food is sourced via the local farming cooperative. The Azores are known for the quality of farming they have - specifically cattle and the meat/milk from them. Prices were reasonable, it's packed...because it's a great spot, so it's worth the wait if you come during peak lunch/dinner hours.More

Simply put, this is the best steak house on Sao Miguel. Run in a very professional manner. Do not miss out on the home brewed ale, which is nothing short of Belgian quality!

Meat place with decent wines. Located at the building for association of farmers. The meat was good. I was not a fan of the Azores style, too thinly sliced. The red spicy peppers on top were nice. The egg could have done without. And in...general, don’t like my steak swimming in sauce, even if white wine sauce. Still, for the island, a good choice for a night out.More

We read the reviews and attempted to book beforehand but to no avail, so heeded the advice of other travellers and turned up before they opened their doors. A quarter of an hour before they opened a small queue was already forming! When the doors...finally opened, we were greeted and seated, and menus provided in a very speedy manner! We chose bread, butter and a couple of cheeses to start, and to follow, a 200g tenderloin in the house style, with egg fries etc in a wine and garlic sauce; and a 300g sirloin with the island cheese and cream sauce. With a house beer and a light beer. All the food was served very quickly indeed, and did not disappoint! The steaks were flavoursome, tender and cooked perfectly to our liking. Also very generous, and the smaller size (smallest in menu) at 200g was plenty! We still managed a taste the red bean tart for desert (a bit like a treacle tart- nice but very very sweet) and finished with obligatory espresso! All up a really enjoyable meal- and pretty amazing value, coming in at circa £32 gbp. Speed of service getting our meal was not matched by speed of service when getting bill and paying however, I think that’s a culture difference, and certainly were not left feeling like we were being chased out. Highly recommend and don’t snack beforehand- they are generous portions and so yummy you’ll want to eat it all!More

So many choices and it was hard to choose. My wife got a tenderloin and I had the 3 pepper steak. Who had the better dish? Doesn't matter as both were fabulous. Already made reservations to go back again while here on vacation
