Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hadn’t been here for several years but still very good Simple but good menu choices. All cooked freshly and served very hot. As before, the portions are huge! You don’t need a starter!

Have eaten here several times in recent months and always been pleased. Tonight’s meal was delicious and outstanding value for money. A special Friday offer of fish and chips with a bottle of wine , only £30 for two. Everything was good but the fish,...with its thin crispy batter, was superb. Two members of our group had a crema Catalan which they also enjoyed. We eat out frequently in local pubs and restaurants- at the moment I would judge Pebbles to be by far the best.More

What great food and excellent service. The Sunday lunchtime special of roast turkey with bacon/sausage and heaps of vegetables was first-rate - and so filling that no desserts were needed!!

Food was delicious, varied menu for fish, shellfish and meat eaters. We were a party of 4 adults and having lived in this area for 30yrs plus we thought that we would like to book a table. Glad we did. Generous portion, great flavours, waitress...attentive. All round great afternoon. The weather was the only spoiler.More

Working from home with a wife who is semi retired, we took advantage of the hot weather to have an al-fresco meal. Last week we visited the cafe/restaurant at the other end of Stokes Bay and had a nightmare meal with our grandsons. Pebbles was...completely the opposite. The waiting staff knew what they were supposed to do, the lady behind the bar was welcoming and friendly too. The food was really a cut above the rest and good sized portions, nothing was skimped. Nothing was any trouble and the condiments caddy (Bucket and spade theme) was well stocked. Give this place a try and you will not be disappointed.More

It was a stormy day , we just drove by, parked up & got a table no problem by the window ! The waitress was soo welcoming. excellent service all round & most efficient with our order too. We chose chicken goujons & salad &...chips & the other was a starter with prawn & shrimp Marie Rose mayo & a salad & garlic bread ! Both very generous helpings & the pudding was the lemon meringue pie with vanilla ice cream & again a very generous helping ! Two coffees & glasses of water without even asking for the lattter … our go to always when visiting this area we will be back again soon!More

This restaurant is in a great location, however the service and flexibility is appalling. I am vegan (14yrs) it is 2023. I would expect that there would be 1 option for me at least. The 1 choice, falafel burger, is served in a brioche bun...with dairy mayo and slaw. Then I was told that the chips were not suitable. So our friends paid £15 for a burger served on a lettuce leaf and tomato slice with a bowl of new potatoes. No extra salad or anything was added. I am livid that I was made to feel like a leper because of my life choices. I didn’t cause a problem by complaining as we were with friends and it was their venue choice. There was no dairy free option for dessert either, not one. The attitude from the staff was ‘stand off ish’ and I was treated as an inconvenience. Fortunately, I took my own Mayo and coleslaw to add some interest to my meal. I’m just sorry that this restaurant has the monopoly on the seafront. Their cafe is just as bad. No alternative milk options available or food options available for me. Apparently, not even the chips! A walk down to the Bayside cafe is recommended as they do cater for people ‘like me’ . The staff at Bayside are friendly and accommodating. It’s definitely worth popping down there.More

1. Staff holding top of glass to serve. Unhygienic. Hold glasses by the bottom. 2. Litter on floor. Waiters didn't bother to pick detritus up. 3. Sachets of sauce? This is a restaurant. Put sauce in bottles. 4. Frozen chips. Paying a small fortune to...eat frozen chips? So lazy. 5. Waiting staff standing round the bar, not paying attention to customers. Had to go in twice to get their attention. 6. Poor range of beers. No IPAs. No effort. 7. No one came to check to see if our food was okay.More

We were down in Portsmouth and checked on local eatery's This place came up, and what a gem. Right by the beach front and classic fish menu. Gets very busy, but service was excellent and the food was excellent. It's not a cheap place to...eat, however, it is good value for money. The staff were brilliant and I would recommend a visit. We will be going back soonMore

We were delighted with the food and the service at Pebbles. The fish and chip portions were well cooked and very generous - chips nice and crisp, fish not over-battered. The staff were excellent, checking all was OK, serving us quickly and politely. Highly recommended

Nice friendly young staff. I ordered the prawn and crayfish salad. Massive salad, enough for at least two people. I gasped when it arrived and was advised 'we have doggy bags'. A smaller plates option would have been welcome as it was rather overwhelming.

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal with 2x adults 2xchildren. Nice menu, very pleasant professional and attentive waitresses. Drinks served promptly and food shortly after with children’s served first which was a nice consideration and appreciated. Generous portions and good quality food. Ice cream parlour next...door for dessert as well as dessert menu in-house. Bit pricey but worth it ! View amazing as opposite the little Bowls club and next to sailing club but also able to see the countless other boats and Isle of Wight ferry sailings. A great place to people watch. A lovely late afternoon early evening spent at Pebbles.More

Me and a friend came here to grab some chips and a cold drink after being sat in the sun all day.. the lady making the ice creams and handing out the chips was beyond rude! A couple that had the same order as us,...ordered about 5 people behind us. Yet, they got their food before we did. We had to questions where our food was and was told to wait and that it wouldn’t be long. Whilst waiting in the que, we overheard the same lady being rude to an older gentleman that was waiting for his food. Not to mention, the chips were dry and just not good! Wont be going again.More
