HI Jack, thank you for your lovely review. We looking forward to seeing you again soon! All the best, The Kings Arms
A lovely Yorkshire welcome with an open fire in flagstone bar. Betty the Labrador was welcome too. Shared a ploughman’s platter for two with proper thick cut ham and delicious home made rabbit terrine and local cheese. Washed down with a cool pint of Old...Peculiar and a delightful glass of Merlot. Highly recommended!More
Hi Paul, Thank you for your kind review, we are glad you enjoyed our lovely roaring fire and locally sourced cuisine. Dogs are always welcome :-) We hope to see you again soon! All the best, The Kings Arms
Popped in on a Saturday night with no booking and the staff were so accommodating, finding us a table for 3 by the fire at the last minute! We understood that there’s been a change in management, but this didn’t seem to affect anything at...all! We all had homemade pie which was very good, there was a good selection of local gins and the atmosphere was lovely! A very reasonably priced pub with a homely atmosphere, would definitely recommend and would return if we’re in the area again, thank you!!More
Hello there! Thank you so much for taking the time out to write us such a great review. We re-opened on the 5th of November under new management, we are so pleased to hear your feedback on our team, food and atmosphere. We hope to...More
Booked in on previous reviews , apparently undergoing management change which we didn't realise . The quality of food was quite poor, frozen and tasteless. Pricey for what it was . Young staff waiting tables who were pleasant but really couldn't be bothered to be...there . The prices at bar and in restaurant were most expensive in village. And not worth itMore
HI there, It was still under previous management on the 8th of October. We took the pub over on the 5th of November. We hope to see you in the future! All the best, The Kings Arms
Called here for lunch on Saturday 2nd with friends . I had ham egg and chips the chips were the best I’ve had Ham was so good .the others had different meals but all agreed they were very good.presentation was first class.very friendly staff and...service.would recommend to anyone. ThanksMore
My mother is a big “all creatures great and small” fan so we come here every year- however this year we got our food served and drunks no problem-walking out a dog barked at my dog and a local at the bar stared shouting and...swearing how he was a local and that the dog should be trained. Even though it wasn’t my dark barking my husband said it’s a dog friendly pub and dogs do bark- he told my husband to fu*k of. Don’t worry - my hubby did reply! The past 2 years it has gone down hill- my mother was sick the same evening but we can’t say if it was the lunch she ate here or not.More
Very disappointed .My wife’s Rosti was small, not value for money-and the meat in my steak pie was chilled . Apologies were unconvincing . Poor customer care. We are regular visitors to this area and have eaten here many times but won’t be returning
Pleasant enough pub, the only reason it hasn’t got 5 stars is because one staff member we encountered just seemed to be a little disinterested in customers. This should not reflect on the place however as it is a generally nice pub to visit and...the food we ate was delicious and came out fairly quickly. A lot of the staff are quite young but for me that’s not an issue as we’ve all got to start somewhere so it’s nice to see the younger generation being employed. The lady with the short blonde hair however was absolutely lovely and we had a nice chat, she was very welcoming. If it wasn’t for her I would have had to have given the place a lower rating. All in all though it’s a nice place and locals seem very friendly. Unfortunately though there was a bit of a smell from the toilets in the back room each time we visited so this may need addressing in the future.More
The pub is located in the village of Askrigg, several miles from our stay in Bainbridge. Friendly service. Good selection of beers on tap. The food is a step up from average pub fare, as is the surroundings for dinner. Their signature dish, a steak...pie, was very good. In all, a nice night out.More
Food was good and a bonus that it is dog friendly in the bar area . Once food was served there was no other interaction with the staff though, so mid way through the meal when we wanted more drinks I had to go and...wait at the bar. The staff were pleasant enough but whilst we were sat eating, the bar staff were obviously throwing bottles into a bottle bin or similar and it was ridiculously loud and not at all relaxing .More
A group of five of us arrived having been turned away by the only other pub open in the village. We were given the last free table and treated like royalty. The food was excellent, the beer likewise and the atmosphere was class. The staff...are lovely. Very highly recommended for both quality of food, vale and serviceMore
Sunday lunch sharing platter was FALTLESS, everything was tasty, hot and all you could ask for. Would highly recommend - Lisa and her team are doing a fabulous job. Thank you
A get together with our daughters, partners and babies, we all throughly enjoyed our meal! Thankyou!
WOW! Whilst having a weekend break in the area, came across this gem of a pub with a lunch time menu/restaurant. We popped in for a late afternoon drink and had a look at the menu. They were able to fit us in for food,...yay! Starters I had Wensleydale mushrooms, husband had the mackerel, both dishes were very tasty. For mains we had the Drovers pie and belly pork, both dishes were excellent, top quality food, would definitely recommend, especially the pie, scrumptious succulent pieces of steak in a rich ale sauce encased in a shortcrust pastry that melted in your mouth. Staff courteous and attentive, pub seems lovely and clean, would definitely revisit when in the area.More
Booked for Sunday lunch but only one option which was a 'sharing platter' of meat, vegetables with yorkshire pudding. It was served on one plate piled high - overwhelming!! and not in a good way. Meat overcooked and food generally very disappointing. Apparently the usual...chef was not available due to an injury. We had eaten at the Kings Arms last year and the standard has since deteriorated. We shall not be returning.More
