Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Soup dishes so shallow, so very little soup, had to ask for a bread roll. Beef so rare it still had a pulse. One small baby carrot, leak in cream, not enough for a table of 8, had to wait for another small dish, dessert...of sticky toffee pudding needed cream or ice crea, all in all, a very poor meal and slow service. The waitresses couldn't have cared less. Good job the disco was good and saved the night.More

Our first drinks orders were taken by a pleasant waitress, all drinks after that we had to go and stand at the bar to order, mid meal. The food was good but it took so long for the veg to come out, the gravy was...cold. We only had one dish of potato dauphinois, one dish of cauliflower cheese and two small bowls of peas and carrots between twelve! there wasn’t nearly enough veg we had to ask for more since some of us had no veg at all. We had one set of salt and pepper pots between us all, no offer of condiments and none asked if the meal was ok. What a shameMore

Great pub lovely room. Not the warmest of welcomes and a bit disorganised but have given a 5 as the breakfast was outstanding. Noisy above the pub but we were fine with that. Jack who cooked the brekkie was lovely and fab food nothing fried.

We were seated in the conservatory but the acoustics of the room meant that we were really struggling to hear one another. We had to go looking for staff to order initial drinks. We ordered our food, soup was advertised as tomato but arrived as...mushroom, I am told that it was nice but we were told that the specials board had not been updated today, hence the mix up - so not so much specials of today then? Main courses arrived - and special mention to the fish platter as it was fantastic - but the side dishes did not arrive for a good ten minutes after the main dish, we were not offered more drinks, no-one checked that the meal was ok, we were not offered condiments with the meal. Coffees arrived and put on the end of the table with a mumble by the waitress so unsure which was which, then we had to go to the bar to pay - but the bar staff were run off their feet due to a function in the function room, so car park also rammed. The fish dish I could not fault, and if I went back it would have to be in the main pub (not conservatory) and a quiet night - so I agree with others food excellent, to get sides at the same time as main meal could be greatly improved. And service really needs improving as customers would spend more and return.More

Stopped here for some lunch as it looked nice. Ordered our food and after a 45min wait our food arrived, and was sent back as it was not what i ordered. Went back came back still wrong. We left and went to another establishment who appreciated...our business. Very disappointed with service and intolerable waiting times. Will not be returning.More

"Our golf team staying at this award-winning pub was a hole-in-one decision! The rooms were extremley clean and with beautiful decor. We celebrated our win in style with the homemade pizzas and great beer in the garden with live music, but our hosts were the...real champions. Thanks for the par-fect hospitality!" ⛳🍻😂More

The food was fantastic. The scallops were delightful, and the lasagna and steak were cooked perfectly. However, we were left waiting for over half an hour to pay the bill as they did not have enough card machines to cover the dinner service and the...bar. We were told initially someone would be back shortly with the card machine, however, after 30 minutes we went up to the bar ourselves as the staff had clearly forgotten we were still there. No effort was made to fully apologise for keeping us waiting. They were hosting an event that they clearly were not prepared for, with incredibly long queues for the bar and an overcrowded car park. We would usually be keen to go back for a second time due to the quality of the food, but the poor service means we would not recommend this place to anyone.More

We wanted a quiet Saturday night to catch up after a busy week. We were promptly shown to our table which was waiting for us as we'd booked. We ordered some wine which arrived, chilled, immediately and looked through the menu - and then the...fun began - what to order! I would highly recommend the Fish Platter for two, beautifully presented, scallops cooked to perfection and more than enough for two to share or for one as a main. The steaks were cooked to order, everything arriving hot, in a timely manor and not feeling of being rushed. All the staff were friendly, informative and professional - Well done Stefan and Nick - keep up the good work.More

What a disappointment I booked it as a surprise for my friend she was so surprised at the whole ambiance of the eating area ( she said it was like a canteen ) and I couldn’t argue she owns a top end coffee /bistro shop...So we ordered meals and told there was a wait for 2 meals ( scampi and a starter as a main ) over an hour the meals were ok that’s all I can say the staff were useless to be honest nobody knew what they were doing Should rename it FAWLTY TOWERSMore

Grabbed some lunch with the the family today, once food was brought out, my 20 month old was upset. One of the managers came over in the middle of eating our food and said we need to move tables because other people was around us...and my baby is making noise. So the manager picked our plates up and moved them to another table. I think this is disgusting! Also one of the family member is 91 years of age who is not stable on her feet.Terrible customer service. Food was also over cooked! I would avoid this place at all costs especially if you have children!More

We had lunch at The Fox earlier this week and one of the meals, the veal, was dreadful.. tough and full of gristle. We told our server, who said she would mention it to the chef. When she returned with our bill, with a whopping...24 quid charge for the veal, she said that the chef had said the veal was better than usual! I asked to speak to the manager who reduced the charge for the veal to £12 but, in my opinion, for the sake of customer satisfaction, there should have been no charge for that meal. We were very disappointed and won't be returning.More

Dining at 630pm you don’t expect to be told there is only one portion of soup left! Food was good and decent portions. Sadly to be sat in the conservatory area with a party of 8 (4 kids) the noise levels were so loud we...couldn’t hold a conversation. Staff are friendly but it felt like a very casual diner rather than a restaurant and at over £150 I do think more thought could be given as to who is dining and where they are sitting. There was also quite a loud man serving - who conducted himself more like he was in a cafe than a gastro pub!More
