Having used the Fox for well over 35 years I have never seen it looking so good.
Full of quaint English Country charm, delightfully warm on a cold January night, it was a pleasure to step inside.
To say it was a wet Monday evening the place was surprisingly busy, obviously because of its ever growing popularity and reputation.
The service attentative but not rushed, a very informal laid back approach which is far nicer than feeling rushed.
Choosing Lasagne bake for my daughter which was obviously baked and not microwaved, served in a piping hot (don't touch) dish accompanied by crusty toast and delightful side salad.
I opted for half a crispy duck served on a bed of creamy mash accompanied with garden peas. Two mini baskets of fries and away we go!
All absolutely delicious.
Won't hesitate to return on my next trip back to the UK. One of the places I miss now living in Spain.

The food was excellent. However the service and wait time were very disappointing. The server was really apologetic and explained as soon as we ordered drinks that due to having a wedding on the go she would not take our food order straight away as the wedding food was just about to be served. We were quite shocked that they would take a booking for 6.45pm and expect people to wait until 7.30pm to order. We were lucky as the table who arrived 15 minutes after us did not get any food until we were leaving at around 8.40pm. Definitely bad management. Poor staff were constantly apologising. They certainly managed to sell a lot more drinks and several people were slightly drunk before getting fed. There was no offer of a free drink or reduced bill. Appalling! I suggest checking if there is a wedding on the day you book and avoid it if there is.
That said the food was really good and we will go again but not on a wedding day.

our experience was brilliant, all the staff were really attentive, despite how busy the pub was inside and outside which created a good atmosphere. They were well laid out to deal with Covid and we felt safe at the location. They do gorgeous pizzas in an outside oven and the fillet steak was cooked to perfection . The bedroom was very comfortable with a decent capsule coffee maker , modern bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order too. If we ever return to the area for golf we will definitely return and encourage our friends too. doing a great job!!

Just had lunch here, 4 of us celebrating my partners sons birthday. The food came out lukewarm, by the time the waitress came over and asked us how it was, the food was cold, she asked us if we wanted it warmed up in the microwave.... no we didn't!! Then a guy came over and offered to change all 4 meals. It was to late, so we told him so, we didnt fancy waiting another half hour!!! We had 2 drinks, a meal and a desert each £104, terribly overpriced and no gesture of goodwill knocked off the bill. I do not recommend this place for food. We will not be returning!

We booked to eat here on Bank Holiday Monday. On arrival the pub was packed outside with drinkers enjoying the glorious weather. We were seated inside (which was fine) which was largely empty when we arrived.
The first disappointment was the menu. Already quite limited (6 dishes) we were informed that their fish supplier had not arrived and that there was no seabass or turbot. They did have cod fillet or dressed crab however.
We then waited over 15 minutes for someone to take a drink order and eventually had to go up to the bar and ask if we could be served.
Finally, we then waited for 75 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was good and enjoyable, although their were some odd choices: the spiced honeyed duck came with an English salad for example
All the while staff were rushing in and out taking drinks outside. It felt largely like the pub was focussed on serving it’s beery clientele outside. That’s fine and totally understandable but I’d actually have preferred it if they had refused our booking on the basis that they wanted to focus on drinkers outside rather than diners inside.
Not somewhere we’ll be rushing back to sadly. A shame as we’ve recently moved just down the road from The Fox

Decided to give The Fox another go, after vowing to never visit again 4 years ago. The previous time we came for food, ordered drinks at the bar and then asked to order food. To which we were told the kitchen was closed, only for a local to come to the bar around 5 mins later and order a meal! This aside, I decided perhaps time for another try. We visited in July 2021 and sat outside. The 3 pizza's took around 1 hour 20 to arrive. We had to order drinks via the app, which is fair dos. However, the second drinks we paid for, and 25 minutes later nothing had come. I chased with one of the members of staff (who was very polite and apologetic) who then went away to check. 5 minutes later, the lady returned and I was asked to show my receipt and that once they'd seen proof they could organise the drinks. This instruction must have been given by a manager, and it wasn't the lady's fault. If you've paid for drinks, you don't expect to be questioned after a 25 minute wait!

What a brilliant place to visit during these COVID troubled times.
Very busy when our party ate Sunday lunch, the quality of food far outweighed the time we had to wait to order.
The staff were good and the viral precautions far exceeded government guide lines.
Would I return? Damn right I would.

After getting fed up of homemade lockdown cuisine. We decided to try the delivery options from the Fox.
We weren't disapointed . we opted for two lots of fish, the delivery came within 20minutes.
Large fish,chips, mushy peas and tarter sauce. FANTASTIC!!
We will deffinetly be using them again and have passed on the delivery menus to our parents.

We booked a table for 5 and asked when booking if they served vegetarian meals, to which we were assured they did. When we arrived, we asked if the table we had been allocated could be changed for one in a quieter, less crowded part of the restaurant. This was agreed and we were invited to choose our table. So far so good. We could see no vegetarian options on the menu, so asked what was available. The small choice was very bland and unimaginative, so a fish option was chosen. We all placed our main course orders, together with our starters. The starters arrived fairly quickly, but over an hour from placing our orders, there was still no sign of our mains, despite other guests who had arrived in the meantime being served with theirs. We asked what the delay was, and eventually received our food. Thankfully, the meals were delicious, although the vegetable side dish was limited to peas. We then ordered our desserts, all deciding upon sticky toffee pudding. Well, any sticky toffee pudding any of us has ever had, has always been served with a very generous amount of toffee sauce. Not on this occasion. Whilst the sponge was light and tasty, the toffee sauce amounted to a trickle from a commercial bottle of caramel sauce. One of our party asked for more sauce, and a little more was trickled over the sponge. Not very satisfactory at all. We had all been looking forward to our evening, but were thoroughly disappointed by the end of it. I’m sorry to say that this is one establishment that will not feature in our choice of venues for future outings.

came out for a drink after the lockdown, very spacious table lay out. Music with dj chilled and relaxing. Staff all wearing correct ppe. Fast service for drinks and food from a table layout app. Stone baked Pizza was delicious, one suggestion place pizza menu on table with other menus. Very impressed will come again. Thank you the fox.

Thank you Steff and Nic for a fabulous Sunday lunch again, delivered on time, piping hot and plenty of very nice tasty food. It was our wedding Anniversary and they made it so special in lockdown even sending us a drink each to celebrate our Anniversary. Highly recommend their Sunday roasts and also their mid week meals.Although steak is not on the midweek menu they have obliged and are delivering it for us with all the trimmings. Great food, great service, great people

Second time visiting the fox to meet friends for dinner.
Wasn’t impressed with the food the first time but it was ok. Small portions and things missing from the order.
Second time at the Fox was a shambles. We waited nearly 2 hours for food which to be honest was really poor. I had scampi that was like a child’s portion. 5 small pieces of poor quality scampi that was really greasy for £15 is not what I’d call good value. My partners chicken was very average and again very small portion. My friend had steak which was good but again very small. The puds looked very nice but we just wanted to go home by then.
We had all but given up on the evening after such a long wait and wished they had told us there was going to be such a long wait for food. The waitress said they were running 20 mins behind which is fine but 2 hours later we got served.
There was a private party in the back which was very noisy and maybe this got service priority over the restaurant.
We all agreed that we would not be returning to the Fox any time soon due to the service problems and poor value for money.

Thought I would write this after being to other establishments recently that were not trying too hard to be COVID safe . Arrived and was greeted by a nice young lady who explained procedures and took contact details for trac and trace . We then had a lovely family meal under the marquee, order via app and drinks bought to your table . We had freshly made stone baked pizzas which were lovely- in fact it’s the first time my youngest child has eaten a whole pizza as she liked it so much !
Well done and appreciate your efforts to keep everyone safe . Will Look forward to visiting again

Meals delivered hot and on time during Lockdown. Over the last 4/5 months we have taken advantage of the meals being delivered by The Fox. Every single one has been delivered on time and piping hot and delicious. From Sunday roasts to Friday night pizza. We have been very impressed at their efforts to keep their business going and us fed! It is a wonderful family establishment and they deserve to give themselves a pat on the back. I am so pleased to live close enough to have the meals delivered.

Absolutely fab time here. We came for lunch at about half past 12, me and my mum are both vegetarians so we asked about what veggie options are available and there was lots for us to choose from. I had battered halloumi with chips and my mum had a halloumi salad with balsamic vinegar. The meals came out in good time and were absolutely delicious, easily the best vegetarian food I've had at a restaurant in a while. The two ladies who served us were both polite and helpful, as was the lad on the bar. I would definitely recommend a visit soon :)
