Down on a work trip, but would gladly go back for a holiday. Amazing friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Food's incredible and rooms are really well kitted out. Really looking forward to next time.

One of if not the best reception and care at a hotel/venue I've ever had. Brilliant inn serving fresh beautiful food and the best staff team running it. Nothing was too much, and they all went out of their way to make sure we had...everything and more. Dave in particular was on the ball at all times to make sure our bellies were full and our stay was first class. Will 100% be back here and would recommend it to everyone! All the best, DeclanMore

It’s been some time since we have visited this pub for Sunday lunch but we were not disappointed In spite of the fact it was very busy the service and food was just as good as before. Lots of tender beef and plenty of various...vegetables and the overall price was quite good.More

I’ve eaten here before and not had issues but last night was just awful. The service wasn’t even worthy of one out of five. The server was awful and didn’t even take our order until 40 minutes after we arrived. Yes, we did ask her...why she wasn’t taking orders prior to this and all she said was there is a backlog in the kitchen and she’s not taking our order until they work out who came in first?!?! Absolutely astonishing to be told this! Well maybe explain this at the beginning and don’t leave people waiting and actually have a diary system showing those who booked (we did) and those who just walk in! Very poor attitude too. We asked how much longer for the food to arrive because it was now an hour and she was so rude. No apology, poor service, poor food and an overall sense of disappointment for a family meal. The only server that was polite was the young girl who took our payment. At least she had a smile! We certainly won’t be returning again and our weekly meal out will be at another venue from now on.More

After seeing such positive reviews I expected better. We waited a long time (1.5 hours) for food and when it came it was MUCH smaller than we imagined, plus not as hot as you'd hope for a freshly cooked meal. Around £15 for my scampi...which was incredibly greasy and almost inedible, it tasted like it had been cooked twice. If it wasn't for me being so hungry after waiting 1.5 hours for food I'd have left it on the plate. Chips were nice, but not piping hot.More

Second time visiting the fox to meet friends for dinner. Wasn’t impressed with the food the first time but it was ok. Small portions and things missing from the order. Second time at the Fox was a shambles. We waited nearly 2 hours for food...which to be honest was really poor. I had scampi that was like a child’s portion. 5 small pieces of poor quality scampi that was really greasy for £15 is not what I’d call good value. My partners chicken was very average and again very small portion. My friend had steak which was good but again very small. The puds looked very nice but we just wanted to go home by then. We had all but given up on the evening after such a long wait and wished they had told us there was going to be such a long wait for food. The waitress said they were running 20 mins behind which is fine but 2 hours later we got served. There was a private party in the back which was very noisy and maybe this got service priority over the restaurant. We all agreed that we would not be returning to the Fox any time soon due to the service problems and poor value for money.More

we visited here today and cannot fault it. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming! The owner/manger Stefan was so lovely and could not do enough for us and recommended the beef steaks that one of us ended up having. We were sat in...the bar bit but this was not a problem as all for us as it was at the edge of the room away from the bar and near the fire! We had starters which were scallops and the cripsy duck as both were so tasty! The dressing on the duck was soo good! For mains we had a mixture of the beef steaks, pork dinner and beef dinner. I asked to change my potatoes for mash which was not an issue. We also asked for extra roast potatoes which Stefan happily brought over. The meat was so tender and it came with of good selection of sides/vegetables including leeks and cabbage, peas, cauliflower cheese and potatoes dauphinoise. A relative had the beef medallions (shown in picture)which was cooked perfectly and so so tender you did not even need to steak knife! it was also such a good amount for the money! Overall a great experience and i would highly recommend!More
