Always visit here on my trips to Porthmadog! Huge railways fan and to be situated right on the tracks is amazing. Fine food and a reasonable price!

We had a warm welvome and there was a range of real ale. This was the attraction for us and the fact can see the railway and trains from the bar. Great service and felt welcome by all.

Went to spooners today as part of a trip on the Santa Train with friends who suggested we meet up there and when my wife said she booked Christmas dinner. At the station cafe. Now I don't know if you've ever eaten at the cafe at Chester station (I suggest you don') but based on my experience there, I wasn't... More

We recently opted for Spooners for a midweek lunch while on holiday locally. We were welcomed by friendly smiling staff and were shown the menu along with the daily special. The fish and chips were very good along with the jacket potato filling option, we also chose the lasagna which was very tasty but lacked any lasagna sheets however this... More

Although I have visited Porthmadog probably hundreds of times I've always avoided Spooners as I assumed it was just a bar (and maybe a bit run down). Last Sunday my partner and I were walking across The Cob and decided that we needed tea and cake. Called in and were very pleasantly surprised. Great service, lovely and warm plus lovely... More

Friendly staff with great food. Pub is fantastic too with a good selection of local beers. Must try the purple moose beers.

We had our dinner there on the day we arrived, to save us cooking. Also we were staying close by so it was very convenient. Food was all good, the belly pork and mash was superb, the Steak pie was good too. Would also recommend trying some of the local brews, the Snowdonia ale was excellent.

We called here twice during the week. The first time we sat outside with a beer and enjoyed a sunny half hour with views over the estuary and watching the steam train come in and out of the station. The second time we had coffee and cake and, again, sat out on the sunny terrace enjoying the comings and goings.... More

Came in for a meal on a Saturday evening having been here before. I had the Belly pork and mash, which was excellent, my wife had the scampi, which was a good sized portion. We had nachos to start, which we tasty although the dip could have done with a bit of a 'kick'. The beer quality was excellent and... More
