Absolutely delicious . Original menu. Was very difficult to choose as wanted to try everything! Service very friendly. Lasting memory was seeing all the happy diners ticking into their puds!!

This place can be very busy on the weekends so I would book a table. The area is very limited for dinner options so this one being one of the better it gets busy. Nice food options and plenty of wine and beer to choose...from.More

We were starving after a long day of travelling an went to the Huhu cafe which was close to where we were staying. Wow--what a find! Waitomo is a very small town so we were fully prepared to not have a good dinner option (chips...and a soda was a distinct possibility). We loved the HuHu--the service was great and we enjoyed the bread sampler. The atmosphere was really pleasant and we are so glad we ate here.More

A friendly receptionist helped with a takeaway order for our family. Food was delicious especially the lamb burgers and fried chicken. After being turned away for takeaway from another local establishment because they were too busy, it was lovely to be welcomed here.

Average coffee and subaverage food (could have changed the oil on my car with the amount of oil that came off the kumera skins). Bit of a disappointment and certainly not worth five stars.

From my initial contact to book for dinner the lovely receptionist was attentive and friendly...I was pleased that when I went to dine [she still working and became my waitress...the meal was superb and a credit to the kitchen and the whole experience was absolutely...excellent...thank you allMore

Good food. Good service, in fact exceptional service due to the lack of staff the 3 that were on duty were absolutely brilliant.

Was hard to choose from a really interesting menu - to start we shared some pumpkin and rosemary rewena bread with olive oil and dukkah then our mains were the fish and chips and spiced lamb rump with curry roasted cauli & kumera chickpeas roasted...cashews kusundi mint yogurt and pudding was on the specials board - fejoa shortbread and Hokey Pokey icecream. I came for dinner with my 1 year old and we had the best experience! Top tip: book ahead! We had the mains special and dessert special and had to be rolled down the stairs. Part way through dessert I thought to myself "I'm so...full I will regret finishing this, but it tastes so good (feijoa shortbread) that I will regret leaving any behind. So I ate it all and turns out I have no regrets at all! There were only 4 staff on this Saturday, one front of house, two chefs and a kitchen hand, and still everyone was friendly, the service was timely and everything was high quality. The couple sitting next to us also loved their meals and we all agreed the portions were huge and the price was right! Highly recommend, will come again :)More

Got served an amazing apple crumble even after the kitchen was officially closed, made my day! The other desserts looked stunning as well, highly recommended.

We shall never forget the delicious dinner we had in Huhu Cafe & Restaurant last February 10, 2023. While we were not impressed by Waitomo Caves, we were absolutely delighted by the meal at Huhu. It was just Exquisite A special 👍 to the Chef....We wish we could go back there soon, but it is a bit far from France!More

We ate here on a recommendation from a friend. The food was pretty good and the service was fine (not great but fine). However I have never experienced anything like the levels of noise from the open kitchen. We ate at about 8.30 so not...late but we were clearly the last order of the night as we genuinely had to shout above the clanking and crashing of the dishwashers being loaded and unloaded and all of the pots being washed and put away. We got to the point where we just had to get out and when we told the waitress about it she just rolled her eyes and said “I know”. I have honestly never experienced anything like it - t was so bad I messaged them on their website to offer to share a voice note I recorded to show them how bad it was but they never contacted me. Shame.More
