We went for a last minute meal and were so pleased we did.
The restaurant is a little out of the way, bit the best things are worth making an effort for.
The service was very professional and they made us feel welcome and important without being overbearing.
However, and Indian restaurant is an indian restaurant. Well NOT in this case. the menu offers great food, and successfully delivers the best tasting and most fragrant food we have had in some time. Often after eating Indian food one can feel bloated, dry mouthed and like they have added msg.
Shilpa's food is light, tasty and very well presented. It is not the cheapest restaurant, but you certainly get what you pay for, which is quality food, skilfully prepared and superb flavours.
Treat yourself and make an effort to enjoy a well above the norm Indian Restaurant.
Cant believe we are wrong a review on it, but it was impressive.

Finally found time to visit this restaurant which is right on our doorstep, booked in for a Friday afternoon meal seeing as the kids where at school and i was about to start a job and it was the wife's birthday a few days later. We had the whole place to our selves but we where made very welcome by the staff. Excellent value for money going for starter, main and dessert washed down with a couple large bottles of Cobra beer. Would highly recommenced to others we will have to book a return visit in the future.

This is one of the best indian retaurant in Cambridge.
The bhuna i had was really nice. It is slow cooked dish with rich flavours.
There is an aubergine side dish (i think it is bhaji) which is chopped quick fried augergine with garlic and spices. It was very popular.
They also have a good list of seafood dishesbthat Ihave never seen at any other Indian restaurant.
Plates were empty.atbthe end.
Since everything is cooked fresh we waited 2 hours with a group of 13 to be served.

Best indian I’ve ever had!
I went with my family and had poppadoms, mixed starter, lamb rogan and pilau rice. All of the food was perfectly spiced and seasoned and the lamb was cooked perfectly. I’m sometimes weary of ordering lamb from an Indian restaurant as it can be tough or fatty but the lamb here is second to none. Staff were very attentive and super friendly. Yes, as some of the reviews have stated already, the prices are slightly higher than some other indian restaurants HOWEVER I would much rather pay for a meal here than any other indian because the food is so amazing. It was a great experience and will definitely be returning.

Wow just wow! My husband and I managed a very very rare evening out (persuaded my parents to babysit) and so we were very choosy about where to spend our precious evening. But we weren't disappointed. This restaurant is really something special and the food was exceptional. We had the starter for 2 which was immaculately presented. My husband had the mixed grill for his main course and I had a seafood dish (eek can't remember exactly which!). To say delicious would have been an understatement - we must have repeated ourselves a hundred times when we kept telling each other how much we were enjoying our food. For dessert I had the traditional pistachio ice cream dish and my husband had a liqueur coffee.
The staff couldn't have been more professional - the perfect combination of attentive and discreet but very friendly when we engaged them in conversation.
I suppose the only negative I can possibly think of is that we felt worried for the future of this place what with the coronavirus restrictions. Out of town, niche cuisine, fine dining. I'm sure in normal times they thrive on word of mouth alone because anyone who has eaten here would surely want to rave about it to their friends and family. But lockdown has impacted everyone sadly and out of town restaurants must be really feeling it.
Please please give this place a go, you really don't regret it and it's a totally different experience to visiting the usual boring chain restaurants.

Visited with friends. The greeting was hospitable and warm. The table was set beautifully with white & gold. The food was exceptional. I had Salmon Tikka main which was a picture on a plate. All mains came out extremely well presented. Great portion size. Extremely tasty with clean fresh flavours. Highly recommend the lime rice 🍚 it’s not on the menu but they will happily cook for you. Overall fantastic experience & very highly recommended.

Shilpa is about as good as a Bangladeshi / Asian Restaurant one could hope to find. Everything; from the décor to the friendly and incredibly professional staff headed by my good friend Abu, to the absolutely sensational menu and, of course, the most delicious food.
The stunning outside of the establishment is matched by the gorgeous interior décor. It really is about as ‘upmarket’ as they come. Beautifully finished in reds, gold and Asian furniture.
The ambience engulfs you the minute you walk though the door. The owner Abu has turned an old pub into an Objet d'art.
I have known Abu for twenty-three years, firstly he made The Indian Garden (Littleport, Ely) into a roaring success by exceptional hard work and unrivalled dedication, then took his very well deserved expertise to Papworth Everard. He still owns The Indian Garden but has gone on to bigger and better things.
Now; don’t let my personal friendship hinder you from thinking my review is in anyway biased. Shilpa is simply an unrivalled dining experience not to be missed. From the hundreds of satisfied meals I was privileged to eat at The Indian Garden over many years I had not an ounce of doubt that Shilpa would follow its success.
Every one of the dishes has been crafted by his own hand. There simply couldn’t be a better Indian / Bangladeshi / Asian dining experience to top Shilpa.
From a selection of fine wines to authentic Asian deserts, this restaurant has it all. Not to be confused with the ‘run of the mill’ Indian Restaurants, Shilpa rises way above.
The food is exquisite, every mouthful a delight to the tastebuds. An explosion of tasteful euphoria.
I kid you not, nor do I exaggerate; Shilpa is in a class of its own. Don’t take my word for it, take time out to visit the best of the best; you will not be disappointed.

This is by far the best Indian I have ever eaten at and I’ve been to a few. Service was excellent and the food was extremely tasty, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed my meal as did my other half. If we lived closer I’d be here once a week! Highly highly recommend.

We chose Shilpa for my husband's birthday treat, and it certainly lived up to its excellent reputation.
Certainly the best Indian food we have ever had. All delicious, beautifully presented with impeccable service throughout. The friendly staff presented my husband with an impromptu birthday pudding with a sparkler, which was lovely and much appreciated. We will return.

We have just got back from our second visit to Shilpa in Papworth Everard. It is honestly the best Indian restaurant we’ve ever been to. The service is fantastic (staff are extremely polite, from opening the doors for you, taking your coats, manners and smiles, etc), faultless even. You feel looked after without feeling smothered. The food is varied, flavoursome and delicious. They will cater to allergies and dislikes (even removing coriander for those of us who think it tastes like soap!). They obviously want you to have the best experience, and we certainly had just that. Only note: if the menu says hot and spicy, it isn’t lying! Absolutely recommend: 6/5 stars!! Go ASAP, you won’t regret it.

The offerings, from the starters through the main course, the side dishes, and the drinks, all the way to the dessert & coffee, were all of the highest quality and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive. Even the music was firmly in the background so as not to overpower any conversations -- a rare occurrence these days! If you're anywhere near Papworth Everard, you'll have a memorable culinary experience at Shilpa no matter what you order!

Ordered a biriyani , on every other time I’ve had this , my favourite dish it was served with a vegetable curry , here it was now served with a unpleasant green like soup and a cold yogurt dip .Also pricing was way too high for this type of food . £14 for a predominantly rice dish .

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is quite unusual and not something that would normally happen at Shilpa, we would like to look into this for you and understand what happened. However in regards to the the yoghurt dip, these are always served cold as it is dairy just like normal yoghurt, so it is required to keep it cool.
Please also be aware that many businesses including ours are having to factor in inflation and rising costs in order to operate effectively. Rest assured we use premium ingredients for all of our dishes which is reflected in the food itself. Some outlets are able to offer lower prices as a result of using cheaper ingredients - that is not something we do.
We continuously work to create good experiences for our customers and we’re sorry to hear that we may have missed the mark here and would like to look into this. I am disabled and have had delivery from Shilpa previously. When I rang tonight they said the driver was sick, (actually the restaurant was packed and they obviously did not want to bother with delivery). If you advertise delivery you sh I'mould do it and have a back up plan, especially in a village with so many disabled people.
Luckily for me a friend went and collected it, he was charged £4 for a small bottle of coke which is outrageous!
The chicken tikka was too chilli hot, not the normal mild dish.
A very disappointing experience.

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
It is our go to restaurant worth going the extra mile for.
My family and I have enjoyed consistently excellent authentic Indian meals in this restaurant for several years - both eat in and take away. The menu with both classic and fusion options refreshingly is truly excellent and will draw you back time and again. The restaurant and staff are smart, welcoming and professional in equal measure.
I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.
I have enjoyed the most wonderful and consistently excellent authentic Indian cuisine in this restaurant for several years - both eat in and take away. The food here is truly excellent. The restaurant is lovely and the staff are welcoming smart and professional to a fault.
In my experience, this Indian restaurant rivals the best be found anywhere.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions now and every time has been perfect but promised to leave a review when we last visited as a table of 12 for a surprise birthday meal.
The restaurant is immaculate , the staff cannot do enough and the food is superb. We cannot fault the place! Just wish it were closer to home!
