With the warm, comfortable ambience of a quintessentially English country pub, a menu with choices which delightfully reflect the traditional Sunday, a high quality, very affordable wine list to compliment them and all served by a very welcoming, discreet and efficient staff - I confess...More

Yet again a lovely lunch at the Boot. Met with a couple of friends for a pre-Christmas meal. As always the food was spot on, excellent seasonal specials, pheasant and grouse, the freshest of fish, in this case hake and a traditional Christmas turkey dinner....More

Pre-booked for a Saturday night dinner and catch-up with friends. We’re not local so hoped it was a good choice. The pub really delivered! Our friends were a little late but there was no pressure from the staff. Service was warm and friendly throughout; the...More

Booked a table for 7, great food and service all the way through. Pub and table clean, desserts very nice. You can't fault this pub for ambiance, style, service and very good food.

Cosy, well situated pub in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. The food is great, portions enormous and staff very friendly and welcoming. Clearly a winner with families enjoying lunch together as evidenced by the large tables of people. Book to guarantee being fed.

Having given a poor review three years ago, I am delighted to say the Boot is now one of the best places for food in these parts. Delicious curries that change daily through to yummy classics. Well done - keep it up!

I hate having to respond to such nonsense! The children's menu could not more clearly state that the chicken plate has to be ordered in multiples of two. This lady however decided that was unacceptable and further challenged the reasoning as being one of wastage....More

Decided to treat ourselves to lunch out on Saturday. I am very glad that I booked. We preferred to sit in the bar and a very nice table by the window was reserved for us. The restaurant was full as was the bar. There was...More

I think I need to respond to two things here, the fish, and the chips! Firstly, the fish. We have daily deliveries fresh (not frozen!) and direct from Brixham. Our daily updated fish menu is incredibly popular and any suggestion that our fish is not...More

The Boot Inn is situated in the heart of the idyllic Test Valley village of Houghton in Hampshire. Warm atmosphere, supplemented by active wood-burners, exists in both the Restaurant and Bar. The property has recently benefited from a massive refurbishment and the garden, which fronts the River Test (England's most famous chalk stream), has been enhanced further by the addition of it's own kitchen and bar servery. The latter is open most afternoons and evenings, weather permitting.
