Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Andrew's gets great reviews and deserves it. The food is sensational and if you are staying at a BF resort its a fraction of the resort food price, outstanding quality and great range. The building is a bit disheveled and there is no aircon other...than fans but the food makes up for it. The "small" size options are about the same size as a main in an expensive restaurant in Australia or other western countries. Look for the items with an asterisk - house specialities. We are two big Aussies and could not finish what we assumed would be four starter sized plates to share.More

This is the first time we dine in here. Been wanted to come here many times but something always came in between :) The food was awesome …. Very delicious and feel so homey … owner was very polite and attentive even though the restaurant...was packed when we came in. We ordered Thai Fish Cake, Chicken Devil Curry, Omelette, Slice Fish with Ginger and Fried Kailan. The Devil Curry and Thai Fish Cake is something that you must try. We will definitely come here again!More

Based off reviews, we visited for lunch. Only a few minutes walk from our hotel. We walked up the escalator stairs that weren’t working. It’s left as you exit and on a corner, with lovely breeze and fans to keep it cool. Service was great,...friendly and genuine. We had the duck pancakes, jumping fried rice (with delicious fried anchovies, which I wouldn’t normally choose but was really good) and the Malaysian chicken curry. Plus some ice cold beer. All fantastic!!! Total was 130RM with 3 drinks. Highly recommendMore

Food was excellent, definitely recommend the duck. Staff lovely and we didn't have to wait long before being served.....also, very reasonably priced.....the hardest bit was finding the place...just aim for the KFC, then take the passage way roughly in the middle of the block, find...the lift and go to the 2nd floor then walk just round the corner....More

This restaurant is a small one on the second floor of the building, accessed by a lift (don't let the shabby lift put you off). Your best booking because it gets very busy and people have had to be turned away at times. The décor...is as seen on the posted pictures and its best described as shabby sheik, with table clothes that have seen better days (although clean) and plastic patio chairs (again dont be put off by the description, just don't expect the Ritz). However the owner Andrew is a fantastic host and entertaining and will do anything he can to help you. My wife and I were looking for somewhere that wasn't just Nasi Lamak and for a small place the choice was very good. Interestingly the beer prices were the lowest ive seen anywhere in Malaysia with a litre of Tiger larger at 22 Ringgit (about £3.60 - at time of visit). The food was quick and was excellent.. so much that we went back for a second visit which for my wife is praise indeed. I would recommend trying their local regional specialities as well as the sizzle platters.... something of a show as the cloud of steam envelops the whole table. All in all a very worth while place to visit.More

We dined here one night after several recommendations from fellow guests at the Rasa Sayang Hotel. They all said the restaurant is not "posh" but the food and staff are great. It's upstairs in a 4 storey building and not far from the hotel which...was good as it rained heavily on the night we went. It's best to make a reservation as it's a popular place with not too many tables. The service was very good and we were given advice when we asked about a few dishes. The crispy duck and King prawn dishes were so good. We will go again when in Penang and recommend the restaurant to anybody that enjoys good food. Please support the local people and not only the large hotel owners.More

1st time having dinner here. Variety of food to choose. Food is delicious. Suitable to bring kids here also. The environment is so "cool", feeling like having food in Western country. Excellent hospitality. Will go back again.

We’ve been dining at Andrew’s on each of our previous (and numerous) visits to Penang, on our 2024 trip we dined on three consecutive Sundays. Always friend, fun & welcoming and the food is just fantastic - drinks, starters, two mains & rice for under...the equivalent of £15!! Highly recommended.More

Good local restaurant with varied menu. Quick friendly service a popular choice with tourists and locals We choose well by having the duck to share followed by a portion of sizzling beef, chicken and cashew, sweet and sour chicken, special rice and noodles far too...much for the 2 of us (I liked the fact the server advised us to) but we wanted to try different dishesMore

We have eaten at a lot of great restaurants on our visit in Malaysia. Visited here two nights ago and it was an amazing food tasting experience. Don’t expect fancy or a romantic view, just great food. I would say it’s a definite place if...you are in Batu Ferringhi. Lots on the menu to choose from, wish we were in the area to sample more of the dishes.More
