We tried this restaurant for my husband’s birthday and it was so good we went back on two more nights. We had been looking for culinary experiences and once we found this gem, we didn’t feel like going anywhere else. There is a lot of seafood on the menu but also other things for those not loving seafood like we do. The staff is wonderful, service is superb and the location is very cozy. Value for money is also excellent 👌and wines, very nice selection and the staff seemed very knowledgeable about local wines. We tried quite a few things on the menu and every wingle dish was mouth-watering good. You should definitely eat here, the atmosphere is very different compared to the places on the main street..!

Just eaten here! Wonderful to have it’s own car park too.
From the moment we arrived happy staff, fabulous food and a great sea view ensured everything was perfect.
We ordered fried shrimp, seafood pizza, Greek salad and the most delicious black cherry cheesecake. All were amazing.
On paying the bill we were presented free of charge with two Raki and some frozen grapes. This is true Greek (Cretan) hospitality. Thank you Kyano.
We will return many times this holiday and would fully recommend.

Because of wonderful experience we got on the first visit to Kyano restaurant made us had to revisit the second time and we were not disappointed!
I don’t understand why Kyano is ranking #17 when it deserves much better ranking.
- The ambiance is undeniably beautiful with open air garden to sit right in front of the beach. Our son enjoyed the mini playground situated right in front of the beach, yet the restaurant gives spacious and airy feeling, not cramped up like many others.
- The service is super friendly and attentive!
- The food was nothing short of delicious, especially the steamed mussels. I didn’t want to share, so we ended up ordering 3 pots 😆
We highly recommend this restaurant and if we would revisit Crete again in this coming October, we will definitely be there!

Kyano is one of our favorite restaurants in Crete, not only do they serve delicious food, they have exellent waiters and very nice, relaxing atmosphere. We’ve been there often through the years and always a pleasure. We just came home from a new exsperience from Kyano: what happened was that the electricity went out for one and half an hour on all the Platanias aeria and everything got comepletely dark. We were astonished how the waiters reacted, they were completely calm and friendly and acted almost like nothing had happened, used their cellphones as flashlight to walk around and serve the guests. They had to mix and fix what people had ordered, something was possible to cook by gas but not all so this might have been very stressful for the staff but no, they were calm and lovely. This memory will stay in the memorybank!

Wow, what a place! My husband and I have visited lots of Greek islands over the years and my heritage is Greek Cypriot, so the bar is high when it come to tavernas. Well, this is one of the loveliest places we’ve ever dined at! We loved it so much, we ate there 3 times during our holiday.
1) The setting is beautiful - you can’t beat eating right by the sea and watching the sunset.
2) Perfect ambiance and an unexpectedly good acoustic soundtrack.
3) A** food. The stifado is better than my own Greek grandmother’s! Great souvlaki, moussaka, garlic bread and tzatziki too.
4) The staff were brilliant and remembered small little details without us ever having to remind them.
5) Baby friendly, with good high chairs (that have a tray and safety straps) and they’ll happily serve child sized portions of any meal from the adult menu. Our baby girl loved it here.

Having booked only two hours before we did not expect to be seated at a particular table, but instead first row facing the beach! Being a more refined restaurant than many others, the service is accordingly: polite, calm, non-invasive, this does not mean that they are not available for an exchange of words from the customer, but if you are looking for a place to dine with peace of mind Kyano is a great choice. As it is an excellent choice for eating, excellent grilled octopus and prawns in garlic sauce, ditto appetizers and dessert; The choice of wines and cocktails is also vast. Considering that it is a restaurant that focuses mainly on fish, the price is also among the advantages, 60 euros for two without missing anything. At the end of the evening, fruit and raki are offered, brought along with the bill. The environment is obviously not that of a tavern, but of a relaxing dinner restaurant with dishes that are difficult to find elsewhere, excellent for a change of location in which to eat after spending many other evenings in more characteristic places.

We have loved 11nts at 5* Minoa Palace across the road but so pleased it was only B&B as the ability to find places like this on holiday are a large part of what you remember. We've probably had lunch or dinner 5-6 times here.
There's few places I've been in the world that you can eat and drink this well literally on the sand with the waves in earshot and the sun sinking behind the cliffs across the sea. Let alone at these prices!
The wine list is important to some people, they do it well here and have good advice with the less known Cretan and Greek wines. Or just a pint or prosecco for less than a fiver if that's your bag.
Great local fare, seafood, pizza. Enjoyed it all. Always made to feel very welcome. Lovely chilled soundtrack. Always busy. Other people agreed at the little playpark at the back, there's nowhere better around here so of course you come back!

Fantastic service, super friendly staff, very attentive and helped us enjoy a relaxing and romantic meal. The food was amazing and tasted great, cooked to perfection and accompanied by amazing wine. All in all it was a really romantic and relaxing meal for me and my mrs. The waiters were so kind and polite, we didn’t feel rushed or pushed at any point the service was absolutely world class.

Great food, magical atmosphere when darkness comes, and the garden is lit up (ask to sit outside). Book a table in advance in high season. Arranges gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free.

Good and tasty food. Good price range too!
Great service from the co workers.
The view from the restaurant is unbeatable.
Ate here almost daily for two weeks.
The service takes longer on Sundays, but the restaurant was packed those two Sundays I was there, so it's understandable.
Give them a try!

Delicious, said the dinner party! The waves roll in towards the beach, soft music and tables under the trees - and a view of the sea. Knowledgeable and pleasant service, fun to learn about small local grape varieties. Well, the calamari is probably one of the best we've eaten, (and we've tasted many) don't miss it! Lamb and steak, perfect!
You want to have a little of this place for yourself 😊 but why not share! Super! Nice and tasty!
Special thanks to the waiter who spoke interestingly about the local grape, grown in a vineyard around the corner!
We are coming back!

We went to a number of restaurants in Platanias, but none compared to Kyano with regards to the location, food and more importantly the staff. Location is on the quieter end of Platanias and is right on the beach with sunbeds for hire. The restaurant has spectacular views and great for watching the sunset. Food was amazing and I can honestly say that we did not have one meal that we did not like. The staff were friendly and welcoming from our first visit to our last, having eaten several times over our two week stay. Thank-you Kyano for making our holiday very special.

We had an amazing dinner almost the last day at our vacation here, sadly. Wished we had been her earlier. Great food and atmosphere just right with the beach. The staff working there are so kind and friendly. The food dosent take long, and you can enjoy the sound of the waves with a good cocktail. I would recommend their own cocktail Kanyo. For those who loves to try new cocktails! This one was amazing. We’re going to enjoy our last days here enjoying our lunch at Kanyo.

A nice place, with perfect sea view. Here we got the perfect view of a fantastic sunset.
The food was perfect. I ordered a dippkombo for delivery. This one was a little tasteless. The same was true of the pizza. We ordered a bottle of wine, but could not choose which. The wine we got was quite mediocre. The waiters were absolutely amazing, attentive and quick on the spot both with ordering, filling and payment.

It took over an hour from when we ordered the food until it arrived, when only two got the food first, before the next two got it some time later. Experience that there are more people at the restaurant than they are able to serve. They give us a bottle of water on the house and tell us that there are delays because the grill needs to be heated.
