Normally it’s the best fish and chips in the area and have been going for many years and it was really pleased. They got the best fish n chips in the uk but the last few visits it’s gone down hill I don’t know why...but the owner needs to check it out as it’s shame I will try it one more time and if the same sorry to say for the cost I will have to consider else where as Friday nights is our fish night and really enjoy the taste but in the moment fish is tasteless and chips were soggy. Hopefully it will get back to perfect performance.More
We had a lovely evening with the family Sunday evening. The fish was very fresh and cooked perfectly and the chips were very crisp. Staff are very friendly and service is excellent. Award well deserved! We will be returning soon.
We booked a table for 1pm ordered our usual 2x medium fish chips and mushy peas bread and butter and pot of tea for 2 the waitress was nice and friendly. Our meal arrived and we were very dissapointed, the fish and chips were just...warm not hot like they normally are, the peas were bland the fish tasteless not good at all. When the waitress asked if all was ok I told her how disappointed I was as not how it normally tastes etc, she said oh sorry about that I’ll let the staff know at the back, she didn’t. So on the way out I complained to another waitress who said the same and apologised but looked at me blankly. I said we won’t be back here in a long long while, shame as it used to be lovely.More
The chips are nice hence the 3* but the small fish was dry and tasteless and the jumbo battered sausage was inedible as far too greasy!! The batter is too thick and I’m presuming the oil needs a change as very dark. Shame as we...was hoping for more as it advertised “award winning”More
After hearing about their award and we were having a cheeky weekend in Bridlington we decided to visit hornsea and Whiteheads. The star of the show was the mushy peas, they were so good! The fish was moist and the batter was light and crispy,...the chips were ok, just missed that beef dripping taste , which is a personal preference. This chippy is a cut above most but we've had better elsewhere. It's very difficult to serve 100's a week and get everything 100% right for everyone. Congratulations on your award.More
Always excellent food and service. Always get fresh moist chunky fish with a crisp batter and great chips. As well as other great options like the seafood basket.
What a lovely restaurant no wonder it again voted best fish restaurant in country cant not fault anyway fish white and hugh postion even child postion big highley recommended
Lovely award winning food great fish and chips great service well worth a visit great for families and a lovely takeaway.
We've used here regularly for several months now. At first it was great but more recently the food and service have bewn very 'Hit and Miss'! The 'Fish' is either delicious or bland and extremely greasy ... there is no in-between. At the prices charged...there can be no excuse for that it has to be outstanding every time!More
Called here for takeaway fish and chips while on holiday in the area as it was voted one of best….what a disappointment!! Staff didn’t crack a smile …Really greasy fish and chips with no flavour !! What a waste of money …just glad we didn’t...waste more money by eating in the restaurant!More
Very nice fish and chips. I had haddock batter was very nice chips were very nice and i go every year would recommend i will still go every year.
Well I have sampled lots and lots of fish and chips in my time being a lorry driver. These I have had today in Whiteheads Hornsea blow the rest clean out of the water.Absolute taste sensation, top drawer, will definitely be back.
Not a good experience . Had a fly deep fried on 1 of my chips. No apology from waitress she just took chip away to kitchen. Then came back out still no apology!! When we went 2 pay we were asked if everything was OK...to which I replied no I had a fly in my food. This particular waitress was very apologetic & knocked off the price of 1 meal from the bill which I accepted , then the original waitress who I gave my deep fried fly/ chip to said no just knock off the price of a bag of chips as the fly was only on her chip not the full meal!!!! Absolutely disgusting customer service. Will not recommend to anybody anymore like I always used toMore
This must be about the best fish and chip shop/restaurant in Yorkshire. Forget the others this one is the best. Friendly staff, quick service, reasonable prices and quality fish, not too greasy or too thick batter. A bit hard to find, but satnav found it.
