Whiteheads is superb! The restaurant is spacious, clean and well appointed. The service is first class. The food is on another planet regarding its excellent quality. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection in copious quantities of crisp succulent batter and piping HOT! The chips were just lovely. The peas were quite excellent too. Accompanied by a mixture a brown and white bread and butter and a massive pot of tea from which we were able to extract 4 cups each, this was simply a fantastic way to take lunch on a leisurely Saturday afternoon. WHAT NOT TO LIKE!!!

My husband and I visited on the Saturday after New Year following a long walk along Hornsea sea front. Of course due to the Covid restrictions the restaurant was closed other than for people to collect pre-ordered food. The socially distanced queue outside the take-away was fairly long (about 25 minutes wait) but the end result was worth-it! Our fish and chips was hot, crisp & tasty. Not the cheapest fish & chips in Hornsea but in my opinion the best! What more could you ask for?

We ordered 2 takeaways this week while on holiday in the area. Each time the service was fast and friendly, great menu, super value - less than 50% of what we usually pay back home. Great quality, nicely presented, overall superb experience. Highly recommended 10/10.

I found the food ok but very expensive. Mushy peas, that are usually served with fish n chips, are extra. They did give bread and butter and tea but would trade both for peas to be included. The buttered bread stuck together and was greasy to hold. Staff very good and helpful and place clean but this is what I would expect from any restaurant.

Visited last week and could not believe a response I received when I ordered fish and chips and a fish, I asked if the lady who served me if she could share the chips out as we don't like a lot of chips, she replied she wasn't allowed to do this !! As she took two trays and put two scoops of chips in one then a fish in each I cannot understand what the problem would have been putting one scoop in each. Never have been refused this request before at other fish and chip shops. I'm afraid that will be our last visit to Whiteheads.

Been for take away chip butty with a patty. The patty was dry and nasty. Tastes like it had been there all day. It was flakey and just plain nasty. Staff where rude and obnoxious. Paid for two plastic forks at 5p each and never received them, not that it made one bit of difference as I couldn’t eat it anyway! Used to come here often as the food was good but not anymore. Loosing one customer won’t make a difference to this company but wanted to let people know what we experienced.

I travel from Hull every week to buy a takeaway F&C and eat it in the car on the sea front. The one at a time serving system needs changing but the quality of the food makes it worth the wait. Try a Moby and tell me it's not the best fish & chips around here. The fish is an inch thick and super fresh. Highly recommended!

Having again patronised this takeaway I come away feeling exactly the same as I always do - thoroughly fed up with the consistently poor service. Despite queueing for long periods to be served I have yet to be given an apology for the wait. In addition staff operate at the same speed regardless of the number of customers waiting. At times staff stand waiting whilst ordered items are fried rather than serve the next customer. It would be easy to blame particular staff but ultimately this is down to poor management not providing staff training to offer the best possible service to its customer. Most of the staff are young people and there doesn’t appear to be a management figure in the shop to take control and organise staff for maximum efficiency.

This Moby deal isn’t as good as it used to be. 🤔 It says a huge portion of chips with one large and one small fish...it’s more like one average portion of chips. 🤔 The fish looked ok with the batter on but was flat and small, once the batter had been removed. 🐟

Been to all the fish & chip establishments in Hornsea and Whiteheads just (only just) sneaks as the average best. Truth be told, Hornsea is a poor seaside place to get very good fish & chips. Fish portions are small & nothing to write home about, chips always on the pale/undercooked side. Service & price in Whiteheads was reasonable & hygiene standards seemed good, along with Covid regs. On the East coast the further you travel North, the better standard of fish & chips increase. Bridlington-better, Scarborough-better still, Whitby-Heavenly.

Really tasty and fresh fish and chips, me and my partner walked 15mins to this chippy as it was gluten-free and it didn't disappoint! Lovely light and tasty batter, chunky fresh cod, thick cut chips that were full of flavour. The gluten-free options were listed on the menu board and their website has lots of info on allergies and GF. Wasn't overly expensive either as it was in land than on the sea front. Great fish and chips!

We called in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch hoping to get a table in the restaurant (otherwise we would have had a take-away to eat outside). We were in luck and shown to a table for 2. Menus were brought promptly and our order taken quickly. We both ordered haddock & chips with tea/coffee and bread & butter. Good value we thought at £12 each. Portion sizes were good and there were plenty of chips. It was delicious, although a few of my chips were hard as though they were not cooked through even though they looked cooked. We have not been in the restaurant for several years (but we have had take-out) and it looks as though it has had a refurbishment. The toilets are nice and modern. The ladies looked nice and clean but the toilet seat was somewhat off-putting as the middle was stained yellow. It looked clean, just stained.... We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

We had Haddock and chips at this restaurant next to the Takeaway. The fish was absolutely amazing with a light and crispy batter and the fish was succulent and fresh with tartare sauce bread and butter and a pot of tea included in the price I thought this was vert good value for money. Definitely worth seeking out this excellent restaurant and takeaway. Highly recommend

Been here a few times because food is really good. Last time we went we didn't stay long in the queue as a bloke coughing just behind and obviously in present conditions didn't feel safe. Not Whiteheads fault. This time got there at 11.30am to beat the rush and was only one person in front so had to wait outside for a few minutes. I went in and a woman without a mask on came charging into the shop but was told to wait outside. Neither the fish fryer or the chap doing the chips had a mask on. To me that it not right.

Queue is so long, and slowest service ever, doesn’t matter how many people are waiting they continue at the same slow pace. Food is nice but not worth the wait and staff are very strange, weird atmosphere in the shop. Quicker and friendlier chippies to visit in Hornsea, give Whiteheads a miss.
