Had read a lots and really looked forward to our visit to Kebbells, but left slightly disappointed. The staff were very friendly and attentive from the moment, we walked in through the door until we left. The food on the other hand, I felt were...slightly disappointing. I'm a big foodie, so wanted to be wowed, but really wasn't... We started with the cod mousse, which was nice. Second the Burrata. Which were served on a slightly warm mix of pre-made vegetables mixed with seeds, sultanas and pomegranate. Good flavors, but not quite what you would expect in a Michelin restaurant (£15). Next we ordered BBQ Octopus 🐙, but received cuddlefish instead!! No explanation or apology!! We didn't complain, but we do know the difference, as we eat a lot of both! Found that rather disappointing, as I love Octopus. Again the base for the cuddlefish were a pre-prepared stew of chorizo and some other kind of meat (I think) that we couldn't quite make out what was, in tomato sauce! It was fine, but home cooking, not "wow me" food. Last we had Pork Belly with clams and Fennel. The clams used were white clams, which to the best of my knowledge, is only sold in this country frozen, imported from Vietnam. I don't like to be served frozen seafood in a Seafood Restaurant. I overheard the waitress telling another table, they source their ingredients sustainably and loyally!!?? Uhhmm... Back to the Belly Pork, -I don't recall having any fennel, so that could well have been missing. We had a side dish of hispi cabbage, which had way too much oil on the plate, I discovered, when I poured some of its "juice" over my pork! All in all, it wasn't an awful lunch, we were served, but it were not a Michelin star meal, and I have eaten a few in my life to compare with. Would I go back, not for a long time to come, if ever!...More

The quality of the food, presentation, ambience and service was superb. We booked this restaurant not realising that it was in the Mitchelin Guide and can definitely see why. Everything that we ate was perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Really different menu choices, made the...foodie experience even better. Right from the foccacia & whipped butter, the small plates of gambas, tandoori scallops, the larger plate of pork belly, side dishes of samphire, patatas bravas, and the amazing de-constructed lemon meringue 'pie'. Oh, and the decaff espresso was excellent as well. The exceptional service is something that is, unfortunately, rare in restaurants now, so this added to the great overall experience. If you can, sit at the bar to eat - it is wonderful to watch one of the chefs preparing some dishes. We visited while staying near Broadstairs, and, although we live 50 miles away, we will definitely be making a specific trip for dinner here again soon.More

Really interesting and varied menu with a lovely selection of specials. Friendly relaxed service. All of the food was superb, with standouts including a lovely burrata dish, beautiful scallops, a trio of fish special, plus a meltingly tender pork belly. Washed down with a decent...Picpoul de Pinet white. Well deserves its inclusion in the Michelin guide - well worth a visit, we will be going back!More

This was easily the best seafood dinner we have ever had. Service was attentive, quick and smooth and the ambience just romantic enough! We loved absolutely every dish we ordered, but particularly the oysters and the Gambas! We have already booked another dinner here for...when we are next in the area and cannot wait.More

Very overpriced for what is served. 'Filleted' fish was a mess and full of bones. Service was pleasant but inadequate in substance.

What a little gem. Located almost on the seafront this is tapas restaurant with a twist. We took the waiter’s advice and ordered either two small plates or one large plate each. The food was wonderful. Not your usual tapas dish selection but wow was...the food delicious. We ordered the octopus, prawns, mixed fish, scorched mackerel and the pork belly. The food was just scrummy and we shared all our dishes. We had to ask for some bread to mop up the fantastic sauces which were amazing. The wines were not cheap but not extortionate and we opted for two bottles rather than the carafes. The service was impeccable. You will need to book though as we had to go for lunch rather than dinner as it was fully booked weeks in advance. An absolute delight. I can’t wait to returnMore

Absolutely spot on food, great atmosphere, wonderful service (thanks, Pip). Definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive to get there. In the words of Arnie - "I'll be back!"

Friday fish fiesta, from the friendly service to the superb food, a thoroughly delightful evening eating through as much of the menu we could. Top of the list were the brown crab arancini - WOW Mussels ended up being slightly salty via the chorizo and...forcaccia, but that’s being picky. Tuna brilliant Prawns great Even the pickles (fennel) were spot on.More

I think the restaurant was a bit caught out with numbers wanting to eat - a Wednesday in September would perhaps not normally be so busy, but a rare late summer heatwave had brought plenty of visitors to Broadstairs. So, although we had a bit...of a wait for our food, we nevertheless felt looked after by the professional and friendly staff and, ultimately, the food was worth the wait! My husband enjoyed the best seabream he'd ever eaten and my 'small plate' chargrilled halloumi, with 'sides', was just delicious. The restaurant is in an elevated part of the town, looking down towards Viking Bay, and we were fortunate to have an outside table; with the sunshine and fine food, we could easily have been dining somewhere glorious in the Med. We'll definitely return (the one star knocked off my review was only in recognition of a bit of a wait for service & our food). An added bonus is that Morelli's ice cream parlour is only a few steps along the road from Kebbells - easily stroll-able for an indulgent 'pudding'!More
