We had an evening meal here as we were staying nearby; we were able to book a table with our dog in the bar area. The food was lovely and my husband had a decent choice for once as he is coeliac so is restricted...to gluten free options and they had plenty. Our rescue dog is nervous and doesn't like to be fussed and the staff were very sweet with her, bringing her chews, biscuits and water. Service was prompt and friendly. We'll definitely be back when we're next in the area.More
Class 1. Food. Service. Staff. Polite. Friendly.
Had a birthday meal. They dressed the table with balloon, happy birthday sign. Top it all with birthday cake with candles amazing. You couldn't of felt more welcomed. We been for a meal 4 times since we've been...in this area on holiday here. 10 out of 10.More
Superb friendly place to relax and dine.
Staff are simply the best, covid secure, welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Food is amazing. Cooked to perfection, ample portions even for the greedy like myself.
Lovely setting, free parking easy access and cosy whilst staying covid aware.
I...highly recommend The Old Station.
This is the fourth visit so a well balanced review and not just based on 1 good trip.
Have booked again before we return home.

Pre dinner gin and tonic arrived after 20 minutes with the ice melted. Rose wine arrived with no cooler so it got warm. Boring Caesar salad with barely chewable chicken. Cold chips and bog standard frozen scampi. Friendly staff but they wanted us out by...9.30pm and hovered by the table very pointedly. We felt rushed and there was no discussion even after we had said to the waitress that we had been disappointed by the meal. Nice surroundings and atmosphere but very plain boring food.More

Good Afternoon “surandrog”
After scanning over hours of CCTV to find your delightful self and your fellow diner - I have noticed you waited exactly 6 minutes and 3 seconds for your “pre dinner gin and tonic” we are experiencing rather high temperatures in the...More
I was looking forward to our meal based on the previous rave reviews. The station waiting room setting was attractive. The venison pate was tasty, as was the haggis element of the main dish although the chicken itself was overcooked and dry. The service was...poor. Our waitress was gruff and overworked, although she did apologise for the long wait; another waitress giggled both at compliments to the chef and that I later gave a detailed answer to 'was everything alright for you?' The reception staff member seemed to be wearing a football kit. There was only one choice of pudding left although we'd booked a reasonably early table. It's possible that the reason for the poor service was that we were competing with a newly installed take-away app, and had come off worse. I may have misheard that but it still begs the question. If you scroll down you'll see a negative review accompanied by a dismissive and entitled comment from the owner, which further spoils the experience, as does having left a 10% tip, which on reflection I now regret. That WAS my fault. They may be resting on hard-earned laurels, which is a shame, but things evidently change. This is not haute cuisine, I've done my bit, you've been warned!More
