This is a new, stylish hotel that has already become a hard one to book, as guests who were lucky to discover Aurora are falling in love with this place and then just keep extending their stays. The same happened to me.
After almost a...month spent in Zanzibar in different hotels, I finally arrived in Aurora. I booked for 5 nights and the day I arrived I extended my stay for another week, and then for a few days more. Happy that I did it in time, because later when I checked it was already fully booked for those days.
Everything here is sparklingly clean, functioning and well taken care of. There is an amazing vibe created by people who work there and people who stay there.
The rooms are very-very clean and spacious. There is a terrace with two comfy sunbeds in each room and you can leave the balcony door open for constant fresh air thanks to mosquito nets on the doors. The shower is new and super-stylish. The WiFi works perfectly, inside and outside the room, at any time of the day, which is sooo rare for Zanzibar and is sooo important when you work remotely.
People who work in the hotel and restaurant are friendly, welcoming, smiling, very professional and super nice to talk to, with great English. Everyone is doing an excellent job. The hotel is owned by a lovely couple Marisa and Simone. Marisa is always around and is always happy to help you with everything you may need. She is very attentive to every guest, and really cares about your stay. Simone is Aurora restaurant's Chef.
The restaurant... Well, the restaurant deserves a separate review. In short, it's worth traveling to Zanzibar just to visit this place. They serve fusion style seafood (seared crusted pistachios tuna is my favourite), some amazing desserts (the icecream is fantastic), salads, wraps, burgers, and many many more. Everything looks and tastes like in a Michelin-star restaurant. Even if you stay somewhere else, you just have to visit this place.
The hotel is not right on the beach, however after almost a month spent in the beachside hotels I actually liked it to be a bit further away from all the hustle. For the beach you need to walk only 5 minutes or so, it's really not far.
Oh and there are two super cute pets at the property - a dog Django and a cat, and they are friends. I enjoyed watching them playing together.
Now to disadvantages. Once you get used to the level of food and service at Aurora, it becomes really hard to eat and stay at other places. So keep it in mind when booking this hotel.More
