This was our second visit, having been during the summer too. Back then we loved the buzz of a busy, well run bistro style restaurant serving exciting food that set it apart from the other delicious seafood restaurants in Porthleven. This visit, we had more time to relax, browse the menu and try food we might not otherwise have the... More

Generous portions of flavoursome food served in a relaxed atmosphere on the harbour side. Visiting Kota Kai was one of the highlights of our trip. Would definitely return.

Great meals had by all, staff really helpful and the chef ensured that I received a meal suitable for coeliacs. Will definitely return

Our wedding anniversary is on Valentines Day, so for us, Valentines is a very special occasion. We usually spend some time away, often in Cornwall, and book a special meal in a local restaurant to celebrate. This year, we decided to book Kota Kai, based on the reputation of the Chef. The food was good, and there was a lot... More

We went on a Friday night at the end of January so it was lovely and relaxing, not too crowded. The menu has a variety of Asian food and burgers. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly in broth and I ordered the seafood laksa, both extremely tasty. While waiting for food, we saw a lot of burgers being ordered and... More

A bit of a late review, but we went in September whilst on holiday. The food was divine. I had the scallops and the Asian pork both - both were amazing! I could have stayed an ate there all evening. The views over the harbour is breathtaking and the staff were very friendly and not in your face. Was great... More

A birthday occasion...with family...early booking....we were told we had 2 hours for the table.....service was good....food slow to arrive...not impressed....and we were all sitting feeling the cold draught...heating on??We left as cold as we had arrived....we did not complain to staff as were the guests. Not sure that we would try again.

We were a party of 6 and seated right by the kitchen which was not a good start. A main course was forgotten and the food was, at best, mediocre, the mussels were described as the worst ever eaten. Very disappointed and we had had great expectations. Won't go again

This was our 4th visit to Kota Kai, we decided to go for Sunday Lunch. The food was very good as was the pleasant service, however, if you are looking for a relaxing Sunday Lunch this would not be the place to go. It was very busy and very noisy, which was ok, but there was a children's party going... More

Kota Kai occupies the whole of the top floor of Celtic House and has unbeatable views across Porthleven harbour and beyond. Almost every table in the restaurant benefits from these views as the tables run alongside the many windows at the front of the building. The food is simpler than at Kota (our big sister restaurant), but all great quality using local ingredients and there is a fantastic variety of dishes including oysters, mussels, steak, burger and Asian dishes. We also have a selection of 'mini Kai', i.e. small plates such as salt & pepper squid, beef carpaccio, ham & cheese croquettes and mini fishcakes.
