These hot pasties soon warmed us up on a cold day as we sat and ate them overlooking the harbour. Chose the shortcrust standard which were bigger than we expected and packed with lean beef. One of the best pasties we've had.

As someone who grew up in the West-country and sampled many pasties over the years I can recommend these wholeheartedly. My wife also enjoyed her freshly made sandwich and the cakes and pastries looked very tempting. Highly recommended.

Popped into the Horse and Jockey after a walk from Helston. Went for the flaky chuck steak pasty at £3.95. Turned out to be quite a size. Enjoyed every bit of it, great pastry, lovely filling with steak that was lovely and tender. Piping hot...More

Shop here early to ensure a purchase as the bread is so good it is snapped up fast, and their crab rolls are beyond compare.

Alas, I can still taste the awful pasty I bought here, on my palate! Firstly, our pasties were COLD. Secondly, the steak meat was in large strips/chunks inside and not minced at all. And thirdly, they tasted unlike any pasty i've ever eaten previously -...More

I've travelled around Cornwall a lot. I have a plenty of experience of pasties. I've had soggy ones, ones with too much crust and not enough filling. Bland ones, with no flavour. And I've had pasties from The Horse & Jockey. Many times. I can...More

Dry, flavourless pasty, I tried the chicken and leek- was not worth the calories so the dog got the rest, really bland and dry. Husband had steak, he said it was okay but nothing great and they were expensive for what they are. The best...More

I spent a lot of my childhood in Cornwall with my gran who made excellent Cornish Pasties. For years I have been disappointed with what's on offer. Pasties should not have mince, steak or gravy in them, that is more like a meat pie. The...More

Best pasties we have found. Hot from the oven and delicious. Totally recommend. Also their saffron buns are delicious, serve with jam and clotted cream, gorgeous. Always friendly service, must visit when in the area.

Hands down. Huge, flakey pastry packed with chuck steak and potatoes. A tiny little bakery and busy!!!!! This is Cornwall.

Well, according to their website, they're 28 years old. As for Porthleven, I'm not sure but I guess you could call them on 01326 562324 and ask them directly.

This is a micro-business, without even a website! - we tried asking about pasties by post, but concluded the only way of doing this was to ask a friendly local resident to buy and post on our behalf. On the other hand... More
