Sunday dinner

A group of us visited for Sunday lunch for the first time. Service was good and all of us enjoyed our food from roast dinner, fish and chips to steaks. As we live locally I Would return. My only negative would be no straws- not even paper straws and limited sauce choices. Other than that we have a really good experience.

Go here for a good meal in a nice atmosphere

We went here for a night out in a small group of four. We had drinks before dinner and the pub is a very welcoming place for just that. The fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere and the staff were very smiling and accommodating. The pub is visited by all ages and that makes it even nicer to visit. For dinner we had the shrimp pili pili in garlic (good but I would have liked more garlic actually). One of us had the bread rusted salmon which was made to perfection. Another had the Caesar Salad and it was also fresh and nice. The third person had three dishes from the sharer options and everything was nice. I had the ribeye steak which was fine but not necessarily exceptional. We finished off with a cream brûlée which had a god taste and flavour. Go here if you want a good meal and drinks in a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

Lovely, but ....

We’ve been stopping by for a drink or two on Saturday or Sunday. Went here for a meal which was a treat from our son. A bit slap dash here and there. Service was rushed, drinks were slow. Meals were ok. My steak was tough. I was still eating and the waitress started clearing .. made me feel uncomfortable. Not what it used to be

Cannot even get the basics right.

Ordered 2 lattes and two bowls of "triple cooked chips". Came to £13.50, which is absurd regardless of how good they are or aren't, but even worse considering the coffee was luke warm, and the absolutely tiny bowls of chips were bang average frozen chips. Service is poor. Coffees came out spilled all over the napkins and plates they were on. Chips came out without any condiments, napkins or cutlery. Place was virtually empty so no excuses. Just do better.

Insulting waitress

Ordered a vegan burger and my friend ordered a non vegan burger. When the waitress brought the food over they looked similar so we asked which one was the vegan one. She replied “the unappetizing one is the vegan one the one that looks the most unappetizing” and laughed. Both I and my non vegan friend thought this was very rude and shocked us. She said it again when she brought over the sides and we just couldn’t believe what we were hearing. Such a backward attitude has no place in this day and age and no food vegan or not should be described by a member of staff in that way. Sackable offense in our eyes. Won’t be going back.

Came for Sunday lunch - very slow service from arrival, garden was understaffed and there was long wait times for food and drink. All mains very basic and seems like nothing was homemade. Waited 30 mins for the bill after having asked 4 members off staff.

Disappointing birthday meal

Went here yesterday to celebrate my birthday with family. Service was shocking. Wasn’t very busy and staff were stood around chatting but still took ages to get anything. Waited 20 mins for a straw, kids food was cold. 2 of us were served raw salmon. We were offered an alternative but this meant we were eating ages after the rest of the party. Was offered a bottle of wine as an apology but didn’t want so we asked if we could have money off the bill. We had given the kitchen a birthday cake but they obviously just thought we wanted them to look after it as they showed no initiative to bring it out, even when we asked for the bill. We asked for it back on the way out and there was no apology for having not bothered to bring it over. Really disappointing meal.

Fantastic dinner

I’ve visited Prince of Wales pub a few times, but this visit exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious, everyone we spoke to was polite and friendly, the restaurant and toilets were spotless. I can not fault my visit at all. Would highly recommend going for lunch/dinner at this wonderful pub. 10/10

First visit to Prince Of Wales..

We have driven past this pub quite a lot over time and thought we would try it out. There is plenty of parking, lots of seats outside, and when went in there was a nice selection of seating indoors too. We ordered a mix of food and the roast was really good, genuinely really tasty and enjoyed it. Only one criticism is that although the staff aren't rude at all, it would have been nice to be welcomed a bit more warmly, and just a conversation of asking how we are etc goes a long way, especially as they weren't even busy, however all our food and drinks were taken and delivered problem free, like I said everyone was fine, but being welcoming and friendly adds a lot to you experience anywhere, especially a local pub. I'm sure we will definitely be returning, its a lovely pub with good food.

The Best Meal I've had in 2020 (of course, apart from my wife's cooking!)

We recently went to the Prince of Wales on an Eat Out To Help Out Day. The organisation, service and standard of food was outstanding. I had the Pan-Seared Haddock Fillet. The fish was amazing with excellent presentation and was the tastiest meal I have had all year. In my job I eat out at top restaurants a lot and this dish was as good as anything I have been served in a London Restaurant. Compliments to the Chef.

Terrible value for money food.

Absolutely terrible value for money food. £7.00 for a sandwich which had no garnish and no chips/crisps. The same McMullen’s pub less than 10 minutes away has a much better menu with sandwiches for £6.95 with chips and garnish included! Apparently McMullen’s have decided this is a “destination pub” which obviously translates as ripping people off. I feel very sorry for the staff who are lovely and the pub garden is wonderful but sadly I won’t be eating there again until they change their menu.

Good but slow

We came on a Saturday lunch. The snacks and drinks were good. There was nothing wrong with them but the service was very slow. I think the staff were very busy making drinks for the garden, but we were seated inside. It took nearly 10 minutes just for a bottle of Prosecco, two glasses and a ice bucket. It wouldn't put me off coming back but I would probably order more in one go next time to avoid waiting twice. The meals going to the tables around us looked very good. Also their house Prosecco is quite dear.

Birthday Lunch

We visited on Saturday 7th March for my husband’s birthday. There were 6 of us and we had a lovely time with gorgeous well presented food. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was extremely friendly and efficient, thank you.

Great night …. Chaperoned a young special needs couple on their first date. Sat separately just in case but there was no need! Sienna, Toby and Holly were fantastic they looked after us all. They were really inclusive, helpful and took the time to make sure we all had a great night! Food was delicious too! Thank you.
