Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had been on a walk nearby and wanted a coffee and cake (well deserved) 4 of us, no booking. Great Covid measures in place. But the star of the show was the cakes (all of them) Lemon cake was so fluffy and yummy, date...and walnut slice Is possibly the best I’ve ever eaten and our friends had a Bakewell and Victoria sponge. Safe to say nothing was left & we asked who made them and it was the lovely lady in the kitchen who makes all the cakes! Definitely will stop by again for some cake! Side note coffee wasn’t the best but it really doesn’t matter as the cakes and friendly service make up for it.More

Really disappointing experience. After walking decided to stop for tea and cake. Outside looked inviting however once inside was dated and dirty looking. The cakes looked homemade and nice until you receive it and it has been microwaved! Which can only mean it is old...and trying to make it taste fresh. I asked for a replacement scone which hadn’t been microwaved and then got filthy looks. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it was expensive and not pleasant.More

Pros: *took us in on a very wet wild day after a very long walk with kids and dog *Staff friendly and welcoming *Location fabulous *Cakes looked lovely Cons: *Cafe looking a little dated *Food quality is quite poor - burgers felt very economy *...Food is Overpriced - we ordered 3 x burgers, jacket potato, 2 x teas and 2 cans - this cost us £36 *Did not apply eat out to help out discount - we came on Tuesday This feels to me like a business in trouble, where they are making cuts with quality of food, trying to scrape profit from selling small cans of fizzy drinks for £2.25 each.. this tends to be counterintuitive though as it stops repeat business. The staff where lovely so it is a shame, but we did begrudge paying such a large amount for such poor quality food. We would not recommend the hot food. Our advice would be to drop the prices of the food, or improve the quality of the food.More

Reviewers praise the ice cream and scones, but we had a burger and a cheese sub roll. They filled a hole, but we cant recommend them. The staff were friendly if slow.

Me and my girlfriend fancied lunch after our big walk. We looked in a few places but they were either too busy or too expensive. We stumbled upon this place and were happy we did. We both had a cheese burger and chips which was...lovely and fresh. The best part was the staff. Really welcoming and friendly, I find it very important to feel comfortable and welcome when I eat in somewhere, and I was made to feel like I was in a friends home. Will definitely return after another walk soon. Also a man was there who had travelled from Wigan for some scones, he quoted ‘ they’re the best I’ve ever had ‘. The girl told me she bakes everything her self, the cakes and scones etc. Worth a try next time !More

So pleased to find this place when passing through on the way home from holiday. So friendly and comfortable. I had a cup of tea and a toasted tea cake. Both were lovely. Dogs welcome inside, much appreciated since it was raining and cold outside.

Supposedly homemade ice cream. Really claggy and a powdery texture. Oddly not very cold either. After we had purchased ours we noticed that two other customers had left their nearly full cones on the table. At £5.75 for 3 scoops of “ice cream” this was...daylight robbery. We won’t be back.More
