Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A group of us visited during the day for coffee and again in the evening for dinner. All our needs were catered for and the most difficult thing was deciding what to order as everything sounded delicious. The food did not disappoint; it was good...quality and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive at all times without being intrusive. Excellent place to eat and would highly recommend.More

The food was delicious, beautiful presentation and the service was excellent. However there was a damp mouldy smell in the atmosphere, which was even worse on the ground floor. Very off putting

It wasn’t until we ordered our food that we were told all beef dishes were off the menu. The reason was because it was such a large piece of beef to cook! Decided to just have cherry waffles instead. Looked really nice, just a shame...it was raspberry compote not cherry. Mentioned it to the waitress and got a woeful sorry. Very disappointingMore

Fantastic service, food, atmosphere. What a delight of a place. Me and my daughter visited before attending an event in Holmfirth, we had the best meal and time here. You are getting Michelin star food for local restaurant prices. Stunning wine and cocktails menu too!...The treacle bread is a must!! Like cake!More

Love this place. Starters always beautiful, good well priced wines, friendly feel. Unfortunately the mains always feel heavily salted and dry. Please sort.

We came late and were accommodated-family group of five. Three of us had the breakfast platter .The other two had eggs Benedict and the tortilla dip. Excellent large tasty portions. Good to see that the tortillas were homemade rather than out of a packet. Excellent...service . Well done.More

As a girl group of 4 we have just had the bottomless brunch at Whippet & Pickle. This was outstanding to say the least. The food (breakfast platter) was amazing, along with the range of waffle choices that you have. I’d advise for the sweet...option after the breakfast platter! The range of drinks (espresso martini, margarita mimosa, Bloody Mary & Prosecco, larger, if you want) was amazing too, proper cocktails and not from the pump. The level of service was also fantastic & attentive too. Not a bad word to say…. And I advise people to try this hidden gem!More

We have lived in Holmfirth nearly 10 years and have always wanted to give this place a visit. So this morning (Sunday 6th August at just after 10 a.m.) we decided to go for breakfast. We were seated upstairs in a room on our own....The waitress came back with a jug of water and two glasses. I asked her kindly if they could turn the music down a bit (it was far too loud and the music was like something you would play in a nightclub!). It was as extremely unpleasant and not something you would want for a civilised Sunday breakfast . She said yes certainly and then walked off without asking if we would like a drink (coffee or tea). Then we were sat there for nearly 10 minutes and the music had not been turned down and the waitress was nowhere to be seen. We decided to leave and as we descended down the stairs I saw staff members stood around the bar area just chatting and laughing. They saw us leave and didn’t even attempt to approach us to ask us what the problem was. Needless to say they lost custom and we will be telling others about our experience. Despicable.More

Had wanted to visit for a while so had high expectations. The restaurant venue itself is lovely and tucked away but we were seated next to some stairs and the light above our heads kept flickering, felt like we were sat in front of a...strobe light. Good job we are not epileptic. We had the lamb flatbread and the boar to start, they were ok. We had the seabass and prawn salsa for mains and it was the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten. Olives, samphire and an olive topping on the fish, too much!! Plus it was seasoned with loads of salt. I did give feedback but not sure the waitress cared as she just looked at me. So customer service definitely lacking. My partner had the masala cod which was massively salty too. Disappointed to be honest.More

Four of us visited on a Friday evening and had a fantastic meal in this quirky, friendly restaurant. We had starters and mains and two of us shared a pudding, everything was tasty, beautifully presented and it felt really special with lovely waiting staff, who...seemed to really care that we were enjoying everything. We will definitely return, highly recommendMore

The restaurant is tucked away in the centre of Holmfirth. It is really nicely decorated inside. The food excellent, and the waiting staff were polite and attentive. My wife and I both thought it was the nicest meal out we’ve had for some time, and...that we would definitely return. Would definitely recommend.More
