Following the signs through the village, past the Palace, & continue on the dead end road - at the end find Birsay Tea Rooms. Excellent food, drink & service. A good choice of menu at reasonable cost. Lovely home baked cakes. All with an excellent view out to the Brough & coast line. A must visit. Check opening times before... More

Every time we go to Orkney we visit the Birsay Tearoom and have never been disappointed. Whether a light lunch or coffee and cake the food is delicious and to be able to watch the wildlife on the dunes from the window is wonderful. Everything is homemade on the premises. The staff are friendly and the cafe is spotless. Highly... More

I've visited Orkney nearly every year since I was a baby and I now take my kids up to see family. Out of all the places I've ever eaten on Orkney this is my favourite. The first thing I would say is that check to make sure it's open and if you're going to visit it's probably worth phoning and... More

After visiting the Broch of Birsay, we saw a small sign for the tea room. After a couple of signs we found this delightful tearoom. The views are amazing, the binoculars (for all ages) encourage looking for the local wildlife. Excellent choices for all the family. Our middle one stated it was the best ham toastie ever (praise indeed)

Beautiful location, friendly staff and excellent food. We had the all day afternoon tea for our lunch. Beautiful sandwiches, scones and cakes. By the end we were totally stuffed. Great quality and excellent value for money. Most highly recommended.

Great little cafe and tea room with home made cakes and sandwiches. Clearly a favorite with locals and families to include little ones. Close to the Brough of Birsay but a bit off the main route. En route to the Brough of Birsay, turn left just past the ruins of the Earl's castle-home and go down the road about quarter... More

Come hear for lunch it was busy. There was a good choice of homemade cakes and scones. I had a cheese scone which was great and a piece of Victoria sponge which was nice. The views from the cafe was great. A very nice place

A beautiful little tearoom with views over Birsay Bay, the range of cakes is superb and quite a variety of drinks are on offer, the afternoon tea looked wonderful, It is about 500 yards up the hill, but well worth it.

This tea room is a pleasant enough place to spend a short time in. There are some nice touches such as binoculars for bird watching from the picture windows and bird reference books. In a tea house one would expect decent tea rather than the common or garden tea bags from Tesco's but you can't have everything. It would also... More
