Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We opted for this restaurant whilst strolling along the port as we fancied Italian and it looked popular. Very friendly waiter but unfortunately we did not find the food to be anything special. Antipasto sharing board was average and we found the pastas a little...bland. The pizza was nice and authentic though. Not too much choice of wine.More

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and did what we tend to do when choosing where to eat.... wander up and down and find it difficult to decide where to go into. We were extreemly lucky when choosing here as it was superb. Staff...were friendly and attentive, the food was great and the ambience very pleasant. We both had steak and couldnt fault it. Sat looking at the yachts in the evening, enjoying a nice meal at the opera restauraunt on our anniversary was memorable for all the right reasons - thankyou opera.More

Amazing fresh ingredients and friendly service. We had the calamari, pizza and pasta. All freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and very tasty. So glad we found the little gem still open so late in the season.

Wanted to eat at Opera yesterday evening but got turned away with 30+ free tablets available, staff were arrogant & rude. - Wanted to help support a business but won't be returning, and suggest to avoid this place from being let down!

We have visited twice this week whilst on holiday with the first visit being good. The wifes veggie Lasagne and my chicken and chips were very nice. Basic fayre which arrived promptly. We enjoyed the ambiance and returned last night. I really wish we hadn't....The wife had mozzarella frittes starter for ten euro which were bland and tastless. My minuscule mussells came in what is best described as clear soup with mashed tomatoes bunged in. Our main course pizzas needed a few more minutes in the oven as the base was very doughy. I must add that inbetween being served the basic service was crap. We had to rely on the wavy hand method as we would have been without a drink for ages. Admittedly, it was busy but we were pretty well invisible most of the night. At the end I gave up and went up to pay. Funny that I received almost instant service at this point. There are better restaurants along the front more worthy of your patronage.More

Having eaten here a little while back, we all looked forward to doing so again tonight. We were seated outside, which was very pleasant and promptly ordered drinks, which came quickly. We then ordered our meal and the garlic bread starter was amazing. Unfortunately it...went downhill after that. One meal of the four meals was completely forgotten and arrived a good 10 mins after the others. Another meal was missing one of the key ingredients, the bacon and my filled pizza was well over cooked and too hard to bite! Such a shame after our first time experience, so unlikely to ever go back again I’m afraid!More

Our experience at Opera was mixed - the food was absolutely delicious but due to most tables being filled and there being only two waitresses things took a little longer service wise. Our food arrived swiftly but my advise is to order everything once you...have the waitress’s attention otherwise you may be waiting a while. I had the aubergine parmigiana to start which was delicious as was my husband’s prawn cocktail and we both had pizzas for our main. The pizzas were beautifully cooked, full of flavour and exactly what we wanted. We will definitely return but will be prepared for long wait times if busy! Also feel like the table layout is a bit chaotic as I had people waiting for tables looming over me but I guess they also lacked common sense to wait further away from paying patrons mid meal. Our bill totalled €63 for two courses, a bottle of wine and some water.More

We went to Opera recently. We were lucky to get a table as the restaurant was fully booked from 8:30pm onwards. Both I and my partner has a steak which was cooked very well. Our children had gnochie bolognaise and pizzas. The food was very...good, the location is superb, great to watch the activities onboard the big boats moored in the harbour. Yes the service was a little slow, but when on holiday and time is not an issue who cares... All in all a great place and would recommend a visitMore

A real pity as the location is great and the staff/ owner are really nice people. OK, we were a big group (16) and we were happy for food to arrive as it comes, but being an Italian style place I would have expected much...better to be honest. (Sorry). I had raw Pasta and was not the only one and some other dishes were not quite up to the mark. Never mind, we had a good evening as the service was great.Perhaps larger groups should think about a different venue.More

Service is incredibly slow here, our group waited 30 minutes to order a drink and didn’t get any food for well over an hour. Very very poor on this front. The restaurant was around 60% full so I’d hate to think how slow it would...be with a full house. My aubergine parmigiana starter was very delicious but my girlfriend’s starters (stuffed olives and mozzarella balls) were vile. Served stone cold, hard, almost stale like and with zero flavour. My main was very disappointing as well. The seafood spaghetti lacked in character, flavour and the squid was chewy and over cooked. The spaghetti was al dente and the only slightly redeeming aspect. My girlfriend’s pizza was inedible, greasy and dripping in oil, overly salty like they’d dropped the salt shaker in with the lid off. We’d have sent it back but could get the attention of the waitress as she was nowhere to be seen and kept telling us to wait a minute. We left most of it as it was pretty dreadful. One friend’s starter never arrived and they apologised for forgetting... but annoyingly they served it when the mains were ready. No offer to remove off the bill or any urgency. My friends didn’t think their dishes were as bad but they did mention that Zizis, Pizza Express, Ask Italian were five times better when they’re pretty average UK based chain restaurants. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable too. Overall, the food was very hit and miss. My starter was really good but the rest was not too far off being disgustingly poor. Awful slow service and I’d recommend going to one of the other restaurants in Mahón. Passio Mediterranea, El Rais and Il Porto are so much better and you’re guaranteed a far better level of service and meal. We’ve both had pizza - Capricciosa and Frutti di Mare. Not only delicious but also beautiful to look at ;) to finish we’ve tried the tiramisu which was perfect! Fair prizing and great service. Definitely recommend this place.

Had gorgeous garlic bread to share followed by lasagne and seafood spaghetti. Reasonably priced bottle of wine. Great service by all who looked after us. Nice touch of operatic music in the background. Will come again next time we are here. Became busy as the...night wore on so perhaps to book a table.More
