Had lunch here with friends. Must say it was 'heaving' and we struggled just after noon to get seats and were cramped on a small table.. The wait for food was lengthy and had to wait 1.5 hours whilst listening to the jazz. My meal was good but others were not so lucky with theirs. If you are not in... More

It was good to see the station buildings at Carnforth given a new lease of life and the cafe was resurrected as the Brief Encounter as it was used in the film. One can pretend that one is back in the 1950s. Andrew, the manager, is very knowledgeable. He is a double for Peter Moores, the former England and Lancashire... More

Watch out for the live jazz. Enjoy lunch (very good soup & a roll) and live music - free but donations to the High Society jazz band. Excellent service too. Lovely treat in 1940s environment.

Well prepared food in a faithfully reproduced scene from the film. Old till, tea pots chairs and tables along with coat stands. Yes you can imagine the time of the film.

The cafe has a lot of character to it and I had a great chip sandwich using homemade chips for £2.95 for lunch. However, it is a little expensive.

The ambience of this cafe is really very special, you can even sit in the Station Masters Office imagining how it was in 1944 when the war raged on and David Lean, Celia Johnston and Trevor Howard sat in the exact same room between takes warming themselves in front of the fire. rumour has it even Noel Coward ventured from... I popped in here for a late lunch having been working in the Carnforth railway depot. Nice food, reasonably priced, with freindly service.

Goes with a trip to the Heritage Centre as a place to visit for fans of 'Brief Encounter' and in many ways looks like the scenes from the famous film still with old luggage trolleys outside and a vintage tea urn and till.Food is homemade and mainly light meals and cakes. Worth a visit while seeing the attached Heritage Centre,... More
