Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ambience, service and quality of food excellent. Our only criticism is that the Sunday roast was not the largest and could have done with some more vegetables especially as the cost of a roast is at the high end. But quality superb...

Perfect. Lovely beers and outstanding food. The bedroom was clean and comfortable; breakfast was also superb. 6 of us based ourselves here for a walking weekend, the location was perfect in a beautiful area, with Chichester on the doorstep too.

Stayed here for four nights, ate two nights. Rooms are beautiful and very fresh, excellent shower and Nespresso machine in room, All staff were very friendly and attentive. A group of us had food on the last night which was first class. Breakfast was first...class. My second time to stay here and hope to return in the future.More

The new manager and chef have refreshed the menu and service … both are outstanding. The dressed crab was perfect and the courgette fritters ideal as something to nibble at in the bar.

THIS WAS OUR FIRST VISIT FOR A FEW MONTHS. WE WERE WELCOMED BY ATTENTIVE FRIENDLY STAFF - BUT NOT IRRITATINGLY ATTENTIVE! WE HAD A DRINK IN THE BAR FOLLOWED BY THE MOST DELICIOUS DINNER. OUR WAITRESS WAS SMILEY AND HELPFUL AND AS EVER WE ENJOYED...BEING IN THE BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED DINING ROOM. WE MET THE CHEF WHO INFORMED US ABOUT THE SOURCE OF OUR FOOD AND THE OVERALL IMPRESSION IS OF A REALLY FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENTLY RUN PUB. WE WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AND CANT WAIT FOR OUR NEXT VISIT.More

The visit started with us being delayed by 30 mins and then being told if we wanted our original table we had booked it would be another 30 mins. Service was seriously shocking no one came to us without us asking ! This meant queuing...at the bar for drinks, the salt and pepper were empty and asked for another which never arrived. Portions for the cost were tiny 2 small bits of meat and 2 potatoes £25 Very disappointing as had gone there on good reviews ! Won’t be rushing backMore

Recently took my Mother in law, whose Birthday it was, along with my wife for an early evening dinner. Lovely evening. Both enjoyed their homemade fish pie and my steak was amazing. Very friendly attentive staff! Thanks all!

We recently visited this restaurant, and the waiter showed us to our table & handed both of us a menu, and whilst the menu was limited the dishes superbly cooked and presented excellently. Our dishes arrived piping hot to our table. I would certainly recommend...this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food, and service.More

Not up to the previous great standard, with a limited menu and sub-standard food - I think they might be new owners and a new chef - will not visit again as the fish goujins were indigestible and the chips cold.

Recent menu changes I feel have set this restaurant back. Last year their menu was amazing. Brilliant food and a menu unlike most other restaurants in the area and the food and service was brilliant. I feel the recent menu change is just not ‘special’...enough. Standard fish dish/steak etc. Really missing the key highlights from last year, the venison, the lamb etc. Hope they change for their winter menu back to what they used to do.More
