Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We got served by a man called basil which provided my friends and I with a fantastic Sunday roast with great service from him and his colleagues. I would definitely come back again, great experience and a great day out whist sat next to the...fire.More

We booked the pub for 38 3 course meals to celebrate our marriage. Kevin, Debbie and team pushed the boat out in spectacular fashion. Every guest commented on the quality of the food and service. Still got a good selection of ales, and a cider...selection that is even better.More

My man and I had been on a great walk around the countryside of Miserden and finished up at the pub with our little dog. We were greeted well and delighted to find our favourite beer/cider in stock and found also they were highly rated...for best pub locally to serve a range of ciders and good beers. We shared a portion of chips and they were gorgeous, cooked to perfection and offered the usual range of sauces and condiments with it. The owners were very nice and chatty and other folk in the pub were locals. It's only a very small pub but a real proper old local pub with a roaring proper fire along with their little 19 year old very fit little jack Russell dog who was almost blind and very friendly too as long as we kept away from her dog bed as she was apparently possessive of it like most Jack Russells are that I know! Great personal touch to the place with old bits and piecesMore

Popped in for an evening meal to break up a long journey, and were looking for somewhere rural and off the main road. This place delivered in spades. Fires burning, chatty friendly locals, a stonking menu, even more stonking veggie menu, and desserts which were...not only gigantic, but like the rest of the food, completely delicious. Wish this were my local!More

Sunday lunch was a disappointment, roast potatoes out of the freezer! Looked like the veg also came from the freezer, the custard was defiantly not home made. The cider was nice and the young staff pleasant and polite. Service charge applied to bill without notification,...only noticed when receipt given after paying.More

Visited with my wife to enjoy the live music, and enjoyed an excellent meal, in a warm friendly atmosphere with well kept beer all at reasonable prices. A small and cosy bar in the winter but has a nice garden area for the warmer summer...times. The food is mostly sourced from their own garden and from local farm suppliers.More

Staying on my own locally with my Labrador dog and decided that a warm, cosy pub would be a great idea on a chill, misty Autumn day after a walk around the Lake. So pleased I made that decision! Felt very welcome and not at...all out of place on my own. So many dogs and families coming and going - felt like home from home! Great to have the newspapers available (and board games) too, particularly as I was on my own. Was offered a small portion of the main when I said I didn’t want a large meal. Very homely and tasty duck and pheasant stew. Friendly and courteous service. Thank you. A real country pub with a cosy log fire in a beautiful setting with wonderful staff.More

Sadly the Sunday roast was disappointing. Boiled parsnips and other blanched veg really weren’t appetising for the cost. Beef also a bit chewy. Despite great location I wouldn’t eat here again.

Everything a proper pub should be. Excellent beer, food and service. Great for couples, groups, kids, dogs, you name it. I worked a shift here 24 years ago and it's the first time I've been in the area to go back. I definitely won't be...leaving it another 24 years for my next visit. Highly recommended!More

Telephoned and booked overnight in our small campervan as a stopover on our way to Devon. They have one spot at the side of the pub for a small camper but we were also told that the local primary school, just around the corner lets...you stay in their car park overnight throughout the school holidays for a small fee ( Honesty box on the wall) What a lovely greeting we received by Karl and we were made to feel very welcome. The village of Miserden was peacefull. beautiful and idyllic. We parked and stayed for the evening, drinks selection great, they also made me my favoutire Gin drink. We both had Sunday dinners, which we both really enjoyed. Beef was generous, veg cooked perfect and roast potatoes were superb! I had a bread and butter pudding which was lovely. Staff, owners and other village customers were really chatty and our eveinng was a relaxed , fun ,cosy and homely atmosphere. We had a great night and slept really well as it was really quiet in the evening. We had such a nice time on the way home from Devon, we decided to stopover again. As it was impromtu, we stayed in the School Car Park. School teacher arrived to work, who was really friendly and advided us there was a public toilet, open through the night , just a little way down, over the road. This was helpful for us. Again, had another great chatty evening in the Carpenters Arms and this will be our stopover when we travel South again. Remeber, your night is what you make it, join in converstatons, ask questions, speak up if asked if everything is alright or if you would like something, I asked for extra gravy and a special drink making, nothing too much trouble. Thank you to everyone, we felt very much part of the Miserden Community.More
