We wanted lunch and we were early. Since this place is next to the fish market we reckoned we'd get good fish and we were not wrong. We had a mixed fish and seafood platter. It was clearly freshly caught and cooked so no complaints. Because we were early we were the only people there although others came later. At... More

Superb, locally sourced food & wine that was so typical of the region. It's tucked away but well worth the visit......don't miss it.

Decided to go for a late meal, and was welcomed in an unfriendly manner, we stood around for a while before we were given a table and menus. There were unwelcoming locals whom glared over at the fact that we were foreign.. After waiting for 10 minutes with no sign of restaurant service even though they were attending other tables... the service was terrible. Even though the place was empty it took them more than 30 minutes to bring our food. I had salat Caprese (mozarela with tomatoes). 'It came with no oil and had to ask for it, or they would not bring it. Salt came in small sachets...

Although there was almost noone in the restaurant, we had to wait for more than one hour after we ordered. The food itself, was no more than average. I would definetely go another place the next time I am in Acireale.

Out of the whole trip, this place has the worst food, yet was the most expensive. Awful overcooked fish which had the texture of a turkey breast, and seafood pasta that had no seafood in it. The restaurant also has the same atmosphere as the moon. None. How people can give this place a 4/5 star rating is beyond me.

On one of our two evenings in Acireale, we chose the Trattoria La Taverna. It had received high ratings in the Lonely Planet. We were not as impressed. Wen we arrived, there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The waiter took a really long time to bring menus and even a longer time to return for our order.... More

On the last day of our holiday we decided to get the train to Acireale not expecting much for lunch. La Taverna massively exceeded expectations. From the very friendly reception to the quality of food this was a great experience. Firstly the waiting team tpok time to help us with the menu. They recommended one portion of the combined starter... More

Came here for lunch. The portions were huge, especially the salad. The Anti-Pasti was wonderful..so big!! I had a plate of local pasta with tomato. Very Tasty. Enjoyed a nice pint of Peroni. Met Luigi, the owner, great guy who organised taxi to the airport the following day. Would highly recomment this restaurant.
