Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here due to the ok reviews. Expectation was for a typical Spanish local food experience. Well they kind of disappointed. The pork ribs were too dry and also not very tasteful. Also the special sausage sandwich was completely soaking in oil. The aftertaste followed...us for the whole day.More

It's always great to return to the Cantina. Every meal my friends and myself had here were great from the scallops to the perfectly medium rare steak and the amazing gofio crumble! The service is great, staff are very friendly. They had a problem with...card payment so prepare with cash.More

WOW! We were recommended to dine here and we were thrilled from start to finish by our experience. We were warmly welcomed. The staff are fantastic. I possibly enjoyed the best sangria ever here and my husbands beer was beautifully chilled. Food? Superb! My husband...had sweet water scallops. I had the popular cherry tomatoes and goat cheese bake which was heaven to dip the fresh crusty accompanying bread in. We also had fries which were again the best we have had on the island. We over indulged and shared a typical almond desert. From start to finish this was fabulous. Sitting in sunshine watching the world go by. What’s not to like? Be warned. Getting a seat at lunchtime on market day is difficult. Try visiting another day and enjoy the delicious food. Whenever you go. It’s worth it and we definitely want to go back!More

First time this trip eating in Tequise. Picturesque and that is what you pay for. The staff were very friendly. We ordered our starter and main and then were told that our starter was off the menu. The staff should have known that. So we...chose the cheese starter - nothing special, melted cheese with potatoes. I had the truffle burger and fries which was huge but tasty. My husband had the sea bass, which again was huge with 12 potatoes on the plate. needless to say, there was a lot of food wastage and we noticed the same at other tables. The meal was also the most expensive of the week and quite honestly. Not worth it. Less is best and it is off putting when your meal arrives and you are put off because it is way to much.More

We had a lovely family supper at this pretty restaurant in the old town of Teguise. The portions are generous. We shared two tapas starters and a main course each for the four of us and weee stuffed! Delicious local specialties. No doubt we’ll be...back another time.More

A really nice spot for lunch - burgers were great, salads were refreshing and the fish was really well cooked. Unusual to find Fritz cola outside Germany too! We had a nice shaded table outside. Service was a little slow, but friendly, and the desserts...were nice too.More

Another visit to Lanzarote and another obligatory visit to Cantina and it never disappoints. Over the years the place has evolved and the menu has changed but the essence of quantity food served in a fabulous environment remains. If you want flash and glitz you...will be disappointed, but if you want a slice local culture and beautiful food, this is the place.More

I've returned with a friend to the Cantina as I very much enjoyed my lunch 2 days before. The food is amazing, they have fresh daily fish on the menu and a unique selection of tapas which are not the small portion that you would...expect. I've had the scallops twice and the tomatoes with the cheese was also lovely! And the Gofio Crumble is divine!! Can't wait to take my girlfriends there in November to try it. Service was great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food might be slightly pricier than in the surrounding villages but it's worth every penny! Will be back in November!More

We have been here a few times in the last few years, staff always horrible, always the notion they don't need the custom which they don't as its busy, they are rude, food is mediocre, had chicken faj which was minimal and nachos which were...dry with hardly any of the toppings on it and a terrible main course option, had to ask for guacamole... there was 7 of us, we didn't leave a tip and we definitely won't be back.More

Hi. I think you have the wrong restaurant. We sell tapas and local dishes not the mexican dishes you have mentioned. Please revise your review - thanks

We popped our heads in to see the quirky interiors but chose to sit outside in the cobbled street. The menu is varied and has some tasty sounding options on it, including (quite unusually) an option for children. We ordered a few tapas bits, some...local wine and an artisan ale. The food came quickly, and looked amazing. It was beautifully presented, but unfortunately the taste did not quite live up to the appearance. The croquettes in particular, at 14 euros seemed over priced. The food was quite nice, it just didn't have the wow factor that the prices and presentation suggested.More
