I found the original review of this place from back in 2014 and thought it would no longer be open, but went in search of it just in case and I’m glad I did! It didn’t have the name Hossam Kasal on the signage but...the location was right, the falafel was as light and fluffy as the original reviewer promised and it was run by a Syrian family, so I think it’s the same one. It’s next door to a doner place called Mercin Doner (I think) and they use the McDonald’s M. Some of the best falafel I’ve ever eaten and one of the cheapest meals of my life too. Definitely recommend!More

My partner and I have been traveling around Turkey now for 4 weeks and have loved every minute of it. Turkish, Kurdish and more recently Arabic hospitality is putting us to shame. My partner is a vegetarian and has been very well sated with the...mezes, soups, salads and pides so far. But just when he thought he might need a break from stuffed eggplant and delicious but repetitively oily vegetarian stews we landed in Urfa. Cue incredibly cheerful Syrian family run business "Hossam Kasal" frying up the freshest lightest falafel we have EVER eaten. And believe me we've eaten a lot of falafel. The food is pretty special everywhere in Urfa but I'm guessing travellers who make it here have eaten a fair few kebabs in their travels and might be ready for this fresh, crisp Syrian specialty. The restaurant is a small shop with one low bench inside and plastic stools. The sign is in Arabic script so just follow your nose down Mesarike Caddesi to number 136 ( on your right as you go away from the city centre). The best falafel roll you'll ever have complete with light tangy yoghurt dressing and chilli lemon juice, huge handfuls of fresh parsley and tomatoes, will set you back approx 3 TL. Including tea."More
