Came here on a Monday evening for a romantic meal for 2. I always forget just how amazing the interior decor is - really sets a beauitful scene! We each had 2 tapas to start (salmon sushi, pork dumplings, duck spring rolls and honey glazed ribs) and then followed up with our main courses (salt and chilli chicken and a chicken pad thai). We were both so full from the starter tapas's that we ended up having to box up the mains after a few mouthfuls! Food was really tasty with an amazing range of flavours, excellent value for money and the staff were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back!

We warned the Buddha Lounge we had one member of the party with mobility issues (step only access) and they had someone to assist in and out. Service was attentive and friendly throughout, not in your face but always there if something was requested The decor is very impressive indeed, quite unique. Food was absolutely excellent. As someone London based I figured it would not come close to some better London options but it really did, dim sum and sushi all first rate When I got the bill I nearly fell off my seat, it was itemised so correct, but maybe half of what I had assumed it would be I cannot recommend the Buddha Lounge highly enough and I will absolutely go back on my next trip to the North East - really well done folks!

Set in part of an old church (I believe), over 3 floors overlooking each other, and a huge Buddha overlooking the whole scene. There are also huge artificial blossom trees which are lit up. Overall, this gives a nice feel to the place. The quality of the food was very very good, and probably the best Asian cuisine we’ve had in the North East - we live in the South and were visiting relatives. The portions were huge, which was both good and bad. Good, if you want to stuff your face, but some of the food came with some rich sauce (eg the schezuan chicken) which was a little overpowering. The other slight downside was that the music was quite loud, which prevents cosy chats Overall, a very pleasant experience, with very friendly, which always helps. One young member of staff even helped my aged mother in law help up the stairs. We will be back

So we arrived without booking and were kindly given a table. With a group so not wanting to be difficult, soup to start. I'll go with average for the price. As for the main, I have never experienced anything as dreadful as the "beef" mossamam curry I was given as a main. Actually, I'm doing it a favour calling it a curry. Perhaps best described as processed meat strips in a coconut soup. Truly shocking. The meat was not the beef you expect in a £15 main dish. No flavour, no texture, heavily processed with a rubbery texture served with a couple of overcooked potatoes (and I mean a couple) all in a tasteless, abundant coconut gravy. If I were you, go somewhere that serves really good Thai food.

Hello Michael Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback, we value both positive and negative feedback as it allows us to keep on improving. I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your Massaman Curry, It is one of our most popular dishes so it is surprising to hear that it was so unpleasant. I have fed this review back to our head chef and kitchen team to ensure this doesn't happen again. I would like to apologise and hopefully we will see you again soon Kind regards

Having ate here very very regularly since opening in 2015 we were highly disappointed when dining here today. Granted it was the first day open again after lockdown closure, but this aside was not an excuse for the customer service (or more lack of it) received today when dining. Im sorry but customer service is vital in this industry and the customer service here has gone dramatically downhill the last few visits we have made even before lockdown. After booking online during the week we arrived on time for our booking, shown to our table in the bar area. It took around 20 minutes for our 2 drinks to arrive (these sat on the bar for 10 minutes before anyone realised and brought them to us) After asking twice to order food our waiter came and took the order some 10mins after drinks arriving. We ordered a selection of tapas to share. Food came, no offer of side plates to use. The food was cooked well and good portion sizes. But we were never checked back on or asked how our meal was. On 2 occasions we ran out of drinks and had to shout for attention of the staff. We were going to order further off the menu, but after waiting 20 minutes for the attention of staff we decided not to and get the bill. The wrong bill was brought to our table (our bill had been given to the table next to us who has just paid, and we were given a bill which was more than double what ours should of been- obviously this has put the restaurant out of pocket making this mistake) someone then came over to ask what we had to eat as they didn't know what should of been on our bill. Had this experience occurred on a very busy Saturday night at full service and the restaurant being full capacity I could possibly understand issues such as this. BUT when there was only 3 tables sat in the bar area and 3 tables sat on the mezzanine area the whole time we were there, and around 10 staff members on the floor, milling around the bar area and having a chat with each other, the customer service should of been very different to what was received. Will not be back anytime soon.

Good afternoon Rachel. I thank you very much for taking the time to give us this constructive feedback and apologise for the experience detailed in your review. I am disappointed to hear that we did not meet your expectations at this occasion and would like to mention that the matter has been addressed to the relevant staff members. We, as numerous restaurants are only back to business from yesterday and therefore will be improving over the next few days. We look forward to welcoming you back at Buddha Lounge. Best regards

We’ve eaten here many, many times since it first opened and we last came in Jan 2018, and unfortunately had a very below average lunch. We decided to give it another go on Saturday night and left very underwhelmed and disappointed with our evening. The food was just OK - we were served incredibly quickly and the food quality was not as good as when the Buddha Lounge first opened. The bao buns were the worst we’ve had (and we eat these regular) and there was about 1/2tsp of filling in each of them. They were very over cooked and tasted re-heated. The main means were just average and I struggled to equate the food quality with the price tag. The Thai red prawn dish was almost all sauce - very little in the way of prawns or other ingredients! The spicy chicken was tough and hard to eat. The sticky rice was, again, over cooked. It’s with great disappointment that I leave this review, we’d always counter on this place for a decent meal, excellent service and nice drinks. Sadly, our past few visits have been disappointing and I’m not sure we’d try again. The dishes are expensive for what you get, and in the past we’ve not normally minded as service was good and meals were good quality, but sadly this has not been the case for our previous visits. We were in and out very quickly.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We are really sorry to hear that your most recent visit didn't meet your expectations. Firstly I would like to assure you that all of our food is cooked fresh to order and nothing is reheated. With regards to the main meals, the Thai red curry is one of our most popular dishes and normally goes down really well, that being said, i will ensure this get fed back to the kitchen team to make sure this doesn't happen again. Thank you and we hope to see you again soon

Arrived without a booking on a Tuesday early evening actually on a second date but were shown to a table straight away. The restaurant was pretty empty and we were shown to a table that was outside the busy kitchen door where it looked like deliveries were being collect. There was also two large empty cardboard boxes next to the table, my date moved aside but still in our view. I asked if there was another table free in the vastly empty restaurant to be told none were available. We waited a good while despite it being quiet and several members of staff chatting, then had to bacon and ask if we could order drinks, we had perused the tatty menu for quite a while and had even made food choices. Drinks and food were prompt and no real issues, Thai curries were okay although sticky rice was extremely paste like but tasty. I had to ask for a spoon to serve the curries and at no point did anyone courtesy our table to check all was in order. BTW the restaurant did not fill up and we could have been moved to any number of other nicer location tables during the evening. I just felt extremely undervalued as a customer and a person! I will not be back. Approx £50 for 2 chicken curries (additional prawns), with chips and rice, 2 pints and a wine.

We have eaten here many times and it never disappoints. The place was quite busy but not overly busy, the staff are so attentive. We had the mixed sharing platter, soup, ribs and chicken satay with steamed buns and sui mei. All amazing quality. The mains we ordered chicken chow mein, chicken szechuan and salt and pepper chicken with of course the obligatory side of chips and curry sauce. The food was amazing hot tasty and of the highest quality. We have eaten here several.times in the past and have never had bad service or a bad meal.

We booked for a birthday, and were genuinely excited to attend. The menu and decor looked great, and the reviews were really positive. Although we booked 3 weeks before we wanted to attend, it wasn't until 2 hours before our reservation that the restaurant called to say we couldn't book the time we had confirmed (via the website's booking form). They asked if we could come earlier, but not by a lot, so it wasn't a huge issue. Upon arrival, there seemed to be a little confusion about where we were going or who was taking us, but again, not a huge issue. None of the staff were wearing PPE, which was a little surprising after our lunch at a different restaurant on the same day. The 2 for 1 on cocktails only applied if you bought the same cocktail twice. This also included if you asked to have something removed from one of the drinks- it had to be removed from both (which we weren't told until we were brought two with the missing ingredient, despite having only enquired about the reduction at that point). They were very small, which may have been because they were 2-for-1, but this wasn't specified anywhere. Taste wise, they were mediocre at absolute best, and that might be overly generous. The food arrived quite promptly, and was mostly good (hence not leaving a 1 star review). The sushi was a little underwhelming but the dim sum was really nice. We hadn't even been there for the length of time our booking said we had to leave by, when the waiter silently walked up, put the bill on the table, and walked off. We weren't asked if we were done, or if we wanted another drink, or even politely told that they wanted to close. The waiter mentioned being new (and staff seemed to be getting paid cash in hand) which may explain it in part, but it really worsened the whole experience. Price wise it was very reasonable, and the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, it was totally let down by the service, and the decor ended up feeling more dingy and sticky than anything else.

Good evening, I am really disappointed that we did not meet your expectations at this occasion. Although our staff members do not wear any PPE, i can guarantee that all of them used hands sanitiser on a very regular basis. Concerning the cocktails, I am very sorry you didn't feel they were up to scratch. The reason for the shortness of the drink will be the lack of egg white as specified; the egg is a vital part of the drink assuming it was a cherry berry blossom which not only adds texture but also a foam top which explains the quantity given. I have spoken to the relevant staff and have made sure under similar circumstances all drinks will be made as per each customers requirements. As for our hard working staff members, i can confirm you one thing: they are not getting paid cash in hand and therefore the envelope you might have seen was only their fair share of the cash tips on that evening. Best regards,

I didn’t want to write a review but the level of service warrants it. Normally I love eating here but I don’t know if it’s under new management. I was very disappointed on this visit. The food was delicious as always but I was highly concerned when I found plastic in my starter. The waiter didn’t seem happy to be on shift but towards the end of the meal seemed more friendly. Then we were overcharged by £8. However, they were very apologetic when we we confronted them about the bill. It has put me off going but I’m sure I may eventually set foot in there again 😔

If you're in the Seaside area of north tyneside I definitely reccomend coming here for a lunch or even a dinner. The restaurant provides lunch deals which are worth the price. Also the interior inside is beautiful and cannot fault the customer service!

It should have been so simple. I passed the restaurant early Saturday evening and it looked really nice. I called in to check that takeaway collection was available for later and was told yes, and I could order online. My plan was to collect after the Wales Rugby international and eat while I watched the Irish game in my hotel room. Simple? No I tried to order for collection online but the website didn't work. I tried calling the tel number on the website but was told they didn't have any drivers and I couldn't order on the telephone but go back to the website. Undaunted, I arrived at the restaurant to order Buddha Special Fried Rice (£9) and Teriaki Sauce (£3). I was asked for £18. I said it should come to £12. The manager? was called who wasn't very helpful and just gave the waitress his mobile phone and told her to look it up on the website. She couldn't find the page I had looked at. The manager returned and implied I was wrong (and probably stupid) Meanwhile the Irish game had kicked off and I still had no food. So here are the screenshots from their website.

My boyfriend and I decided to visit Buddga Lounge on the evening of his birthday. The host was kind enough to give us a table on the balcony, rather than on the ground floor near the bar, which was much appreciated. When seated, I was a little disappointed to see that they have reduced the menu - most of the 'small plates' are now fried dishes, and the dim sum selection has also shrunk. Service was speedy and polite, but the food itself took a fair while to arrive (a bit too long for us). When it did arrive, it was as delicious as ever. The ribs, prawn sui mai, beef skewers, egg fried rice, and salt and pepper chips were all as outstanding as ever. I tried a new dish this time as well: chicken in black bean sauce. The sauce was slightly watery, but the chicken was tender, chunky, and plentiful. All dishes were cooked to perfection, served in generous portions, and simply delicious. As the restaurant was kind enough to give my boyfriend a free birthday drink, and I myself just had tap water, the meal cost less than £45 in total. This was impressive on three counts: a) less than what we have previously paid, b) impressive given the rising cost of food forcing many other businesses to increase their menu prices, and c) given the sheer quality and quantity of the food. Superb value for money. Overall, I will most deinfitely be returning to Buddha Lounge at some point in the future - you can't beat the food, the atmosphere is great, and service is flawless. I do, however, implore the owners to bring back some of the dishes that were on the old menu - they are sorely missed.

We visited Buddha Lounge Friday 21st Feb in the early evening. The location of the restaurant is ideal on Front Street centrally located amongst other bars and restaurant. Inside the restaurant is an unusual but unique setting of a church conversion. Staff greeted us politely and efficiently. Rebekah looked after us and was very helpful guiding us through the menu. The food was excellent, we went for Chicken and sweet corn soup which was tasty , plentiful and steaming hot. Crispy duck pancakes were next , again great quality ( we had to leave some as we needed room for the mains). Sweet and sour chicken and beef and black bean sauce followed which were as good as we have had anywhere. Wine was reasonably priced. We left having thoroughly enjoyed our meal promising to return.
