Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good value overnight accommodation just a stone’s throw from the M74 so an ideal stop en route south. Clean, excellent shower - good food, friendly staff - all we needed. Would definitely recommend to friends and family travelling north/south.

A Great Hotel…..we stayed just one night but our experience was great. Friendly staff….well appointed clean room good size shower bathroom.. Restaurant was great…good fresh cook to order suppers.. great wine to. There’s also a good size bar.. location is great just a couple minutes...off the motorway and just a couple minutes to get back on the motorway….plus you’d never no you where near a motorway…the hotel is in a quiet place…with plenty of parking.. we would recommend the Cressfield Hotel…pleased we found it.More

We had a friendly welcome on arrival and picket up our key. We booked directly on the hotel website and got a much better price than with a third party site. The room and en-suite were lovely. The room itself was very large. We have...a young child so he was very happy! Breakfast was great. They do gluten free toast and the eggs were lovely. They were so kind and understanding at breakfast too. It’s just off the motorway so we’d definitely stay again.More

We decided to try an independent hotel instead of our usual premier inn or similar for one night to break our long trip south from the far north of Scotland to Yorkshire and had some good points and some not so good. On arrival we...liked the look of the place and our room was large at the front overlooking the gardens. The en-suite bathroom was a little dark having no window and only a bath with shower above, better really to lose the bath and have a good size walk in shower. We booked a table for dinner for 8.15 and had a drink in the bar then went through to the dining room to order dinner, the first thing we noticed in the dining room was Radio 2 being played quite loud news and all, not really good for setting a nice ambiance for dinner. We had our dinner all served quickly, I ordered a bottle of red wine which was brought to the table and unceremoniously plonked down on the table in front of me unopened! Maybe in a cafe at cafe prices this would be ok but not in a dining room at dinner charging restaurant prices ? We noticed all during our meal the tables around us were being laid up for breakfast. We had finished our meal by 9.25 and were enjoying the rest of the wine and chatting when we were ordered rather than requested to leave the dining room and take our remaining drink to the bar. We got up and went to our room rather annoyed. I have never bern kicked out of a Premier Inn restaurant after just over an hour so next time it’s back to our usual chain hotel stays. It’s a pity because with more attention and staff training it would have been a nice stay.More

We stayed overnight, B&B and also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant. For the price, the room was excellent. Dinner was great quality and tasty, and a good price and the cooked breakfast was just really good. Other parts of breakfast were not so stand out,...but were really good for the price. Would really recommend if you're looking for somewhere to stay handy for the motorway. Staff were really friendly too! Thank you!More

It’s traditional pub food with a Scottish slant, in that you will see haggis on the menu for evening meal and breakfast. But the food is excellently presented, and there is usually a daily special which is always great.
