Lo Tatà is known from avid skiers across both sides of the Franco-Italian border, and rightfully so. We usually stay at Sainte-Foy en Tarentaise, in Savoie, France. We've been going skiing in Ste Foy at least once a year for about 20 years now. When we've heard for the first time about Lo Tatà we were said that it was worth driving to the French ski resort of La Rosière, get a day pass coupled with the Italian resort of La Thuile JUST to eat at Lo Tatà, we understood that the tip was worth consideration. And it was! First, it is a gorgeous ski trip that have you contemplate the Mont Blanc while moving on, at all ski level pace. It is absolutely necessary to book a couple of days in advance to get treated from the very entrance of the restaurant with a complimentary "vin chaud" in a big "marmite" and ladle, welcoming you to a the civil, tasty and warming Italian hospitality. You will have to accept that the place is now well known and maybe be ready to experience some waiting before your order will be placed. I most highly recommend to not be in hurry and plan your return to not miss the last lifts... All items in the menu are fantastically tasty and copious, really nothing to not recommend. Personnel is also fluent in French and English. Lo Tatà has now became a highlight of our ski trip to Ste Foy, and this is not little to say!.

This is a lovely family run restaurant, I was staying in a BB hotel close by, after eating here on my first night, I was happy to eat there for the rest of my 7 day trip. I had a variety of pasta and pizzas, all being excellent, the pizzas particularly had totally different toppings that you normally see, with a crisp tin base. As a solo traveller I was made very welcome even during their busy evenings, and greeted each evening by the owners and staff with a warm welcome, thanks for making my trip memorable.

Best Restaurant in La Thuile! We have been visiting ever year since 2015 and always make sure to book at least 2 nights in Lo Tata. Staff are very attentive (and entertaining) and the food is amazing, in particular the slow cooked options, fries (best in town) and Pizza. Well worth a visit, great atmosphere, sad we have to wait another year to visit!

So visited here a few days ago and to be honest this restaurant is like all the other restaurants in the resort with very little variation in the menu and very busy.
I ordered the onion soup to start €12 for a bowl of blended onion and lard.
Main course I had the beef fillet, nothing special, not seasoned and was cooked blue rather then medium rare which I can cope with but wasn’t what i ordered.
My wife had a pasta dish which cost €15 and it was basically Mac & Cheese and you would of got more food in a pot noodle.
We wanted to order wine but not once were we offered a wine menu or for that matter asked if we wanted another drink at all.
Very disappointed and this place is meant to be No1 in La Thuile.

Goodevening, I'm apologize if my restaurant disappointed you. I'm not in first place for my choise....with us the menù of food and wine list are togheter inside the same menù...if there was confusion in the room is because there were a lot of people, fortunately for me. If you shared your disappointment with me, I would have found a way to apologize (although I think there isn't nothing to apologize for...)

I am sorry to have to write this, as we were looking forward to a really nice dinner during our skiing vacation. Knowing that restaurants in la thuile are difficult to book in peak season, we called lo Tatà the week before to book a table. We actually had to call twice to complete the booking. When we arrived, all hungry and ready, the waiter told us that there is no reservation. We showed him the phone calls on our iPhones, but he told us that he can not help us. That made me react a bit, which made him to tell us that there is no table for us. Reading through their responses, I assume I will get one, too. Generally, I think there is a misperception fo what is means to be a customer for them. I thought customers might be valued, but we experienced that this is not the case at lo Tatà. We went for a pizza somewhere else. Tasted very good! Will not come back!

Disappointing. We called in advance to say that one of us was coeliac and to check whether the restaurant had any gluten free options. We were told that they could do a special gluten free pizza base, so we booked a table.
We arrived the next day and tried to order a gluten free pizza but were told that none of the pizzas were gluten free. We saw on the menu that it said "pizzas for coeliacs when reserved in advance for two euros extra". When we tried to order that pizza, we were told that it still contained gluten. So why is it on the menu or offered to coeliacs?
Were then told there was only one item on the menu suitable for coeliacs. Not great given what we were told on the phone and that they say on their website and on here that they have gluten free options.

Cordiali saluti Marco

Eat here a number of times before covid hit and couldn't complain.
But now would not recommend, far better places to eat in La Thuile at better prices.
Ordered a calzone pizza, turned up completely cold in the middle, they changed it, but it was completely tasteless. Eaten better from a cheap takeaway in UK.

We are regulars at “Lo Tatá” we have been coming every year for years, it seems that the change of ownership has been fatal to this restaurant. Even if the prices remain reasonable the quality is no longer there, unfortunately if it was only the quality of the food... The incompetent staff, unable to correctly note our order.
To summarize the meal:
- The waitress was very urgent to take our order. Well… there were people there, we can understand.
- Translation on the map... how can I put it, we are in 2023, an 8 year old child would be able to use Google translate.
- No Pizza in a pizzeria what a shame. (Oven problem)
- As mentioned previously, the quality of the food, Italy is the land of pasta! The products are fresh but poorly cooked.
- And to finish the meal, a frozen chocolate fondant cooked in the microwave was served cold. I applaud 👏 but hey they learn from their mistakes since mine was served after 20 minutes completely flattened, at least it was hot 👍
- The best for last, the addition 50€ above the real price. They wanted to charge us for the pizzas not served and an extra charge for fries, mistake or scam? The fact is that other customers had the same problem when paying. 🤷🏻♂️
In the end we got away with a bill of €200. They made us a commercial gesture of -€25, recalculating the real price was €195, great commercial gesture of -€5.
Anyway, I wasn't there at the inauguration but I will be there at the closing.

The restaurant is located in the upper part of La Thuile, but can be reached on foot from the center in 10-15 minutes.
The environment is welcoming and quiet: informal, characteristic, with a beautiful external veranda and a small playground almost in front where the children entertained themselves while we watched them from the veranda.
The menu offers elaborate dishes, made with local ingredients: all really good. For children it is possible to order simple pasta or hamburgers (of excellent quality). We tried the nettle gnocchi with Aosta bleu, the tagliatelle with venison ragù (very popular first courses), and then polenta and veal carbonada (with the staff's rabbit: really good!).
Attentive and friendly staff, ready to recommend dishes and pairings. Maybe a little slow in service, but absolutely acceptable.
Advised!

Very slow service waited over 30 minutes for a drink. When received my food had cold steak and sent back to kitchen was microwaved when told a new meal would be made. Chips to accompany meal arrived when we had all finished.

We went to this place for lunch one day at the end of August, attracted above all by the excellent reviews we had read, but we didn't have a good time. Nothing to say about the pleasant mountain atmosphere that is perceived in the place but arriving around 1pm there were still no customers... desert. We opted for a fixed menu at 30 euros choosing 2 fried pasta cuddles as a starter, a carbonnade and a hamburger as a main course and a tiramisu as dessert. Already on the starter you can say that it was more Emilian than Aosta Valley (mortadella, coppa, Colonnata lard), but still acceptable. Not so however for the hamburger which was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside and probably poorly preserved given that we had a heavy stomach until a few days later. The carbonnade with too much juniper and a perhaps reheated polenta. Let's save the tiramisu. In the meantime, I would like to point out that no other guests were seen in the restaurant, with the exception of a foreign family who wanted pizza but it wasn't made for lunch. Were we probably unlucky that day or has something changed since the period of good reviews?

Cordiali saluti Marco e Camilla

In this splendid mountain hut in the village (they also have outdoor tables) you are welcomed with great cordiality. The menu is varied but all of excellent quality. They satisfy both those who want Aosta Valley dishes but also those who want something more gourmet. We had dinner with tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and continued with a plate of fontina fondue with croutons, potatoes and fried Pontine. Everything excellent. We also returned for lunch to try the polenta and pork ribs. Divine. Good and nice. Keep it up !

Just arrived in La Thuile. The owner of the Hotel Du Glacier directs me to this place, which is located a few steps from my property. I am alone, I am welcomed with kindness. I choose an appetizer of Aosta Valley cured meats with chestnuts immersed in a honey cream: a classic combination but done very well. I move directly to the second, where a carbonada on a bed of Taragna polenta was recommended. It melted in the mouth, glazed (if I remember correctly) with Barbera. I also take two glasses of Valle d'Aosta red… the only note was that it was served not at room temperature but a little colder. A note of colour: a beautiful waitress with reddish hair and curls... brightened up a welcoming environment... At the end of the meal I was offered a genepì, which was very welcome. I think I'll return.

I booked a week’s trip to La Thuile to ski with Crystal and stayed at a BnB round the corner from Lo Tata and ended up eating there twice after trying most of the recommended restaurants because I enjoyed my meals so much. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating given I was eating alone and never felt rushed to be fed and moved on. It’s a very popular restaurant where you frequently see people get turned away since they haven’t booked in the evening. The menu has a lot of variety and some interesting spins on popular dishes and a reasonable price. If I went back to La Thuile I’d definitely by eating here again!

Good restaurant in a hamlet of La Thuile... it's a fairly small place but with an outdoor area that can be used in good weather. The place is quite rustic, typical of the mountains. In essence we had a good dinner, obviously substantial dishes being the typical Aosta Valley ones... in any case good, well prepared. Dispassionate advice...if you choose the fondue or the carbonada with polenta...don't order anything else and you will be full anyway...maybe if it's a dessert...the prices are a bit high but it's a personal opinion... It's certainly worth a visit and also a return
