I have experienced many carveries and nowadays most are disgusting particularly the chain restaurants. The Anchor has the best and tastiest carvery I can recall. A plate full of meat or you can have lamb shank, pie, Cumberland sausage or many more choices. The vegetables...More

My father in law is visiting from Germany and we thought we treat him to his lunch. The Anchor Inn was our first choice as having visited before we knew we wouldn’t be disappointed and we weren’t. All Staff are friendly and obliging. The vegetarian...More

The carvery staff are very friendly and efficient. The vegetables are lovely but the meat is disgusting. No flavour and nasty wet texture. Desserts are bought in preformed type. Not pub food at its best. If you want cheap then its fine but personally we...More

Visited here on a Monday night with friends for the carvery at £8.95 each. It is a bit slow having to queue at the bar to pay for our carvery and get a ticket but it is well worth the wait. Having viewed the menu...More

Friendly service carvery lunch.  Food was plain but plentiful, vegetables somewhat overcooked, usual selection of “filling” desserts.  Not special, but if you want a generous plateful cheaply, this is the place.
