Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice staff and atmosphere but sadly the food is terrible. Out of four of us only one liked our meal, I couldn’t take more than one bite of mine! Everything was well presented but it’s the taste that counts. Funnily enough the pizzas we had...the next night (from the bar) were so nice, I assume they are also made by the grill - they should sell them in their restaurant.More

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry that your meal wasn't up to standard and hope that you said something at the time, we will look into this. Glad that you enjoyed the pizzas from the bar. Hope to see you again.

Ok I know my title sounds odd, but if you have been here you will know. All the chairs are awful, springs coming up and one chair was falling to bits. Loads of staff, but they seemed to be suddenly really busy when I was...looking for 3 chairs that didn't have visible springs. Food ok, one meal was cold, wasn't meant to be, one was missing chips and again all the staff disappeared when we tried to do something about them. Not a top class meal. Will not returnMore

We booked the Grill as a final dinner treat before we left Masterson. The restaurant was pleasant and the staff managing it provided good service. Sadly, we found the mains we ordered, while well presented, were not the tastiest. In particular, I found the pork...so bland I had a bit of trouble finishing it. Disappointing when the cost is considered.More

An elderly friend took my husband & I out for dinner as a thank you. We had been to the Copthorne a month ago for my birthday & it really was a lovely experience. But last night it was appalling & my husband & I...felt embarrassed as we had recommended the Copthorne. We each had the fish & chips , my husband had his fish panfried as he's gluten free. When the meals arrived the fish was sitting on soggy chips that looked like they had been scooped out of the rubbish bin. They were black, the ends still had peel on them maybe to disguise the blackness of the actual potato. The coleslaw looked as if it had been tipped straight out of a supermarket packet. But on a good note the fish was beautiful. I understand they had been busy but to dish up third rate food at top prices not a good look. Gordon Ramsay would have had a ball!More

Very let down by the experience. Copthorne used to be special I was shocked to share the dining with truckies and workmen all in work clothes. Meal was under par, menu a non event and prices way over top for what it was. Just a...cafe really, nothing special. Waiting staff were friendly but management need to be more onto it.More

Very disappointing dining experience. The fish of the day was warehou but it was over cooked, the noodles were oily and I don’t consider a few red and yellow peppers seasonal vegetables! I expressed my disappointment to the waitress and she offered a free dessert,...which I did not want and would not have ordered. I would have expected to be offered a discount, given the price of $39. This meal was the worst I have had in a restaurant and I would not eat here again.More

Overpriced and overcooked… I waited for about 40 minutes- and I was the only person who had ordered at that time. Goodness knows what the wait would have been if it had been busy. The lamb sounded great - rosemary mash, pea purée, jus -...medium rare cooked rack of lamb. Lamb was past medium and the portion size of the mash and purée for the $45 cost of this dish…well…they’re obviously trying to push desert!! All a bit meh really. Won’t rush back.More

I just expected so much better! With the prices charged I just expected something much, much better but it really just wasn’t. The entrees were ok but the mains were so dry - between us we had the pork chop and the Moroccan chicken, truthfully...you couldn’t taste the difference between the two, the juices were dried out of them completely! And seriously $9 for a bottle of Tui - you know you can buy a dozen for like $22 at the supermarket which is less than $2 a bottle! I get that covid has screwed things up but overcharging on things like this just make us not interested in coming back. Kyla, our server was the best thing about this dinner - she was polite, friendly and courteous throughout.More

Lovely setting and awesome staff, particularly Keisha who was an awesome ambassador for the business. I was disappointed that the group of truckers that had been drinking in the bar were seated behind us. Their language was loud and appalling , and their standard of...dress terrible. One was wearing gumboots !1 I felt like i was eating in a public bar.
