This was delicious ! I had the breaded shrimp and it was so good . One of the best places to eat in chacala it is not expensive and was over looking the beach .. like many of the restaurants in chacala it was on...the beach .. the perfect place to enjoy a nice dinnerMore
There's a reason busloads of people show up here on the weekends. The food is some of the best we've had in three visits to Chacala, and the local specialty, huanchinango zarandeado, is served here. Basically, it's a wood-fired BBQ red snapper. You can order...by individual plate or for a larger group. We ordered for 4 people, and were served 2 whole fish. Although it came with only tortillas and we didn't order sides, that, and four Coronas, was enough to put smiles on all our faces. It was seriously crisp, moist, and smoky -- amazing, even though my husband said it had been even better the previous night (when I hadn't joined the family for dinner).More
This place is the to be in Chacala. Great food and great service. The Zandereos grilled fish was amazing. Highly recommended.
Most people come here for the pescado zarandeado. Which is a specialty of the region, and is excellent. But we have had it up, and down the coast, and wanted something different. The ceviche was very good, but the shrimp empanadas, were the best we...have ever had in Mexico. Jam packed with the most tender shrimp, and full of flavor. You can tell these are made to order.More
Thanks to T.A. We gave this place a try. The grilled fish was outstanding and large. Great beachfront location. Service was spotty but they were very busy. Good live music.
Beautiful dinner of supetbly coke Smapper combined with fabulous sunset and excellent service. Do not miss
Based on other reviews we decided to have lunch here. We were not disappointed. I was going to have the shaken fish which I have heard a lot about but then...... I saw the shrimp plate. I got a LARGE serving of shrimp (prepared 2...different ways) with delish rice and a small fresh salad. Soooo good! We have to go back!More
All the seafood we had was amazing, but we especially enjoyed the Sarandeado. I wasn't sure what we'd think since it gets mixed reviews, but I guess that's personal preference. We picked red snapper and were rewarded with a huge meal of tender smoky fish,...a basket of hot fresh corn tortillas, toasted tortillas grilled with beans inside, various sauces and other side dishes. So much food! It takes a while for the preparation of this fish, but all other dishes are served quickly. The beach setting is perfect and so are the classic margaritas. We're going to miss this place!More
Several of us had the lobster tails, they were of good size for spiney lobster and tasty as well, the usual veggies and rice, and a reasonable price. Another couple had empanadas, they did not give them a good rating
We went to Chicos in Chacala which was packed with families on Easter/school break - wonderful scene with lots of happy folks, restaurant jammed. The tables are right on the beach, you look out at the water. We had the octopus ceviche and it was...very good. We had been there 4 years ago in March and the town was empty, not today. In spite of the crowd the service was great, they set up a table for us and we didn’t have to wait for anything. Wait staff was hustling. Want to go back for grilled fish.More
Service was prompt & friendly. I ordered the zarandeado and was asked if I wanted to pick the fish out myself. I declined. I asked for a small one. I’m not sure what the fuss is all about. It was flaky but full of bones,...of course & scales. Not that flavorful in my opinion. Margarita was just OK.More
Drank a few cervezas and Margaritas in a beachfront setting. The bbq fish and empanadas were terrific. Great service too and a full body massage.
Right on the beach. Easy to access. We are here a couple times during our 6 days in Chacala. Good Mexican food. Reasonably priced.
Zarandeado is a whole fish smoked with mangrove wood. It is worth the drive to enjoy this succulent dish and we make it a day trip anytime we are in the Puerto Vallarta area. They speak good English here, unlike the other restaurants up there.
