Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really nice quality food. Relatively expensive but worth it for the quality and service. Good range of beer. It felt like a proper French restaurant and was very atmospheric.

A very nice restaurant, with typical normandian decorations. The faluche was very big and delicious. The owner plays an important role in the life of the restaurant, making it seem like a 1800' atmosphere. I'm not that old actually, but that's how it is in...video games.More

Very rude and utterly disgraceful staff. They have no basic manners how to treat a client and have nothing interesting to eat at all except for 20 something Faluche varieties and apart from that, it is just nonsense and exorbitantly priced. I wouldn’t ever return...to this place, ever again!More

This is a truly unique restaurant with regional dishes, good service (for such a busy place) and the interior is very interesting. We were very lucky to be recommended this by the owner of our hotel and she phoned ahead to get us a table...(she actually thought it would be inpossibleS it’s always fullybooked!). Luckily for us we got a table and we arrived to find a quirky restaurant full of old pictures and decor and a wonderful ambience. It does feel quite dark inside but I felt that it added to the atmosphere. Food portions are more than generous, reasonably priced and quite delicious. Dessert which my husband had was enormous and delicious.. Service was prompt, courteous and we felt they deserved a decent tip! We felt so lucky to have the experience of visiting this restaurant.More

Booked a table for our wedding anniversary with our 2 children. We had a lovely meal with great service, followed by after dinner drinks. When we left there were no taxi’s available so the owner drove us back to our accommodation. Brilliant service all round....Beautiful restaurant, great food and amazing service.More

Good beer selection. Great food. Atmospheric location. The kids menu were good value with a good selection. The faluche was a very large serving and very tasty. The salad was probably the pick of the dishes not too heavy.

I checked into Hotel de France across the road and was recommended this restaurant. The area around Lens station isn’t that attractive but this restaurant is an oasis. Unassuming from the outside, it has loads of character on the inside and has a pretty large...capacity as it goes back a long way. Service was friendly, I was offered an English menu and everything went well from there. The planche appetiser features cold cuts, cheeses, salad, pate, gherkins and croutons. It was tasty and substantial. My pave de boeuf (a steak) was also substantial. I asked for ‘a point’ and bits of it were more rare than that, but it didn’t matter as it was tender throughout. There’s a good choice of beers including two on draught. I had no room for pudding. I’m pleased to have accepted the recommendation - a truly lovely evening out.More

This is a ch'ti themed restaurant decked out with lots of rustic knick-knacks, specialising in faluches which I understand are a local speciaility, with similarities to pizzas. Faluches aremuch more bready than pizzas and more generously decorated. The variations offered know no bounds so there...is bound to be a combo to suit all tastes. Le Pain de la bouche (which I assume to be local slang) is great fun and will ensure your belly is full for the rest of the day. Definitely not for those on a diet! The place gets very busy at sunday lunch so a reservation is recommended. The small number of staff do a heroic job of keeping everyone happy. I never did work out whether their ch'ti accents were for real or for entertainment but I loved the fun, rumbustious atmosphere. Reasonable selection of beers!More

While from the outside this restaurant, close to the train station in Lens, looks more than a little tired, on opening the door et être heated by the sounds of contented diners: murmured conversation, clinking cutlery etc. The food is local, traditional and delicious. Service...is friendly. The whole experience is a real pleasure.More

Inn-like restaurant serving straightforward big dishes of honest food which will saturate you in a good way. After a nice filled cold starter with dilicious chees and good rilette and pate en croute, i ordered a spanish faluche. This is a dish consisting of a...breadlike pancake filled with chickenbreast swimming in creme fraiche topped with big chunks of chorizosausage finished of in a local cheesegratin. Luckilly i had a flemish brown ale named queue de charreu to give it some way. The sours of this lovely beer were a perfect match to the abundant cheese. Totally satisfied i had a minerscoffee as dessert, because there was no more toom left. My partner had a carbonadestew which was equally delicious. This in a warm atmosphere, attended by slightly chaotic but ( it was crowded and thus understandable) very friendly staff. This place will give you true pleasure. Real miners experience!More

From the moment you walk, you are in no doubt that you are in a typical, informal French restaurant. It was packed to the rafters on a Friday lunch and hence there was a bit of a wait before even our drink order was taken....However, the food was well worth the wait, I had a veale casserole which was fantastic: tender and tasty with simple veg done in only the way the French can. Simple chocolate fondant for pud, and I was done! Lovely place.More
