Disregard all previous reviews, this is when Trip Adviser gets it wrong, with a change of ownership all previous views should be deleted. This is a delightful Cumbrian pub restored lovingly and run by two friendly, enthusiastic people. Go along and enjoy the great food...More

Stayed nearby to the Horse and Farrier. It is so dirty and such a mess on the outside, that we could not even entertain the thought of going in to actually eat there. Some serious work needs to be done to fix this place up....More

Stopped here hoping for Sunday lunch . Sign outside said it served food 12-2.00. Sign off the road advertising 18th c pub had lured us in. On entering the place looked like it had not been touched since the 18th century. Grim, dark and shabby....More

Had a lovely pub meal here - it is dog friendly and the locals were very welcoming. Limited parking though we did park opposite the pub on the roadside. It was cosy and welcoming. Local beers on tap.

Lovely staff, comfy 'British style' pub, and most importantly amazing food. Do not skip dessert, it was the best part! Loved the ice creams and ginger cake was delicious!!!

4 in party, all tried different options. Food first class, prices including drinks reasonable. Location a bit out of the way, need a car, but ample parking.Good service. Would definitely return if in the lakes.

This is a very friendly, welcoming pub/restaurant with a varied menu of very tasty food which is not over-priced. We have dined here on a number of occasions over the years.

We've passed the brown sign on the A66 so many times indicating an 18th century inn. We finally called in for a drink. Friday night, bank holiday, temperatures in the high 20s, you'd think the place would be in high demand but no! Opening time...More

We popped into this pub for dinner one night after it was recommended to us. There was plenty of car parking in the car park opposite. We were seated quickly and given enough time to have a look through the extensive menu. Service throughout was...More
