We loved eating al fresco in the courtyard - warm and well protected from the evening wind. The cauliflower soup started was superb and the blue cheese croutons complemented it very well. The main course of butternut squash and arancini was delightful and the home cut chips were extraordinary - among the best we have ever tasted and generous servings... More

Because we don't eat pig, our choices are usually restricted because of the modern trend to put pancetta, chorizo, lardons, and other foreign fat into virtually every dish, whether meat or fish. Absolutely delighted to have a choice here of dishes without. The other three all had the local new asparagus which was simple and as good as new English... More

I was taken here by a friend. Lovely setting but somewhat large with high ceilings which made me want to whisper. Lovely meal but I would probably suggest that it would be better for larger parties of people rather than an intimate table for two scenario. However I would recommend as the food is of a high standard.

First visited The Devonshire Arms a few weeks ago; birthday dinner for a friend - party of 5 women. Immediately impressed by the village location right on the green. Imposing exterior with pedimented door and Devonshire crest above. The building is a former hunting lodge; tastefully modernised with a huntin' shootin' fishin' theme. The young serving staff were attentive and... More

This is a substantial historic building with lots of traditional features. It's has a unique charm and character. The bar/restaurant area is also quirky and is very welcoming as are the owner and the staff. The room we had was spacious with a lovely high ceiling. The bed was massive and the furniture in keeping with its status. The bathroom... More

Having popped in for a quick business lunch earlier in the week and not having visited for a good number of years I was easily persuaded to make a reservation for the following Sunday evening. Yes it was quiet but what a great place this is for a cosy evening. All dishes were equally delicious but so generous we couldn't... More

Highly recommended for quality dinning. The choice/range of options were good with locally sourced food. It was delicious, well presented and tasty.

Had another excellent meal at the Dev. Staff always polite and attentive and a good choice of food despite quite a limited menu. The restaurant was bustling but service was well paced and the food excellent. A very pleasant relaxed evening that we will definitly repeat again soon.

Really lovely place - beautiful location and topical decor. Staff were really friendly and service was just about perfect. The food was nicely presented and tasted perfect. The only negative I have is that there is very limited choice for vegetarians.

Went with about 10 others for Saturday night birthday meal. Service was very good, it was warm and the food delightful in a pub sort of way. Prices were about average - starters about £6, mains £12 - 19. Wines seemed expensive but the real ale was a good pint. There are a good number of options from the menu,... More
