We have been here before as the warm welcome from the staff attested. The restaurant is in a small town of Levernois and is situated in the old kitchens of the historic Hostellerie building dating from 1750. We enjoy the a gourmet lunch matched with...with well chosen wines. The service is impeccable, the menu, sourced from mostly local seasonal produce, is not only well presented but absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.More
What a great Bistro - by far one of the best visit in France this year. The kitchen is performing a very high quality with respekt for watch element. The staff en service was a pleasure. More than god value !
A welcoming pretty restaurant, we ate on the terrace. Very good food, lovely service. A must for anybody wanting a lovely evening!
Top restaurant with friendly waiters! Food is excellent and surroundings are beautiful … We will come back for sure!!!
Good food, great service. If you are a wine connoisseur give it a MISS! The list is ridiculously overpriced and far too young.
We went there as a couple and were delighted with the service and food . The menu is short but the food is delicious. The fish cooked to perfection and the choux with passion fruit cream was amazing as was the chocolate mousse. Very friendly...and professional service and the setting is beautiful. A must go to place !More
The restaurant is comfortable and relaxed, the service is very professional, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (I have a dietary restriction), and the food is delicious and plentiful. Safe for Celiacs who require Gluten Free / Sans Gluten. Do tell them...about your food restrictions when you make your reservation. I had no issues dining here.More
The menu is short but all the dishes were excellent. The eggs poached in chardonnay are worthy of a special mention. Absolutely delightful, a dish which I have never come across on my many trips through France. Some potatoes with the main courses would have...been even better. The cheese plate showcased some unusual local cheeses which was great. 3 courses for just short of 50 euros but worth every penny. The service was first class from the moment we stepped in until we left. Professional but friendly.More
We had two memorable evenings here and chose the 49€ entre main and dessert plus cheese and 46€ without cheese There is a great bustling vibe. The first thing you notice is Maitre d' Elodie hands on and not surprising as both evenings we were there...there was not an empty table. The staff glided seamlessly efficiently and engaged professionally with a welcoming smile - there enthusiasm passion and joy for the job showed. We had marinated salmon deliciously prepared.Baby pork and gigot of lamb were tender and flavoursome and of quality The food is not fine dining but not far from it with simplicity allowing the quality of the products to show themselves We would return without hesitationMore
We have dined here several times and every time the food has been excellent and the service professional and friendly A great place for a special lunch or dinner
Dear Sir, Elodie Nicolas, Riccardo Maiello and their team thank you for you visit and comment. Why not try the experience at our Gastronomic restaurant on your next visit in your Maison !
On a recent trip to Burgundy, while on a wine tour in the Cote de Beaune area, our guide recommended Le Bistrot du Bord de l’Eau as a lunch stop during our day of wine tasting. This restaurant, which is the more casual bistro restaurant...at the lovely Hostellerie de Levernois, was a perfect place to have lunch. We had originally hoped to sit outside, since we saw nice photos of the restaurant’s outdoor seating next to a body of water, but due to recent rain and chilly temperatures, the outdoor area was closed that day. Instead, we sat inside, which was very nice too. We liked the cozy and rustic look of the dining room. The lunch menu offers items a la carte or for a fixed price with a choice of how many courses you’d have, and we started with the prix fixe option of just an appetizer and main course each. Since everything was listed in French and we’re not overly familiar with Burgundian specialties, it was helpful that our tour guide was with us and fully explained the menu. The server was nice as well, so I’m sure she would also have helped if we had questions and had been there on our own. My wife started with the jambon persillé (parsley ham), which we had discovered on our trip is a classic and popular Burgundian dish that we really enjoy. Their version of it at this restaurant was really good. I had the escargot starter in broth, and that was also really excellent. They were some of the best escargots I’ve had anywhere. The starters in particular were very strong. I’m forgetting exactly what we had for the main course (the starters were what really stood out to me), but I know my wife had a fish option and I had a meat option, and both were tasty. There aren’t a ton of options for each course here, so it can be tricky to find something you like if one of the options isn’t to your liking. For example, one of the three main courses that day was a tripe sausage, and tripe is just not something we like or ever eat, so we didn't have many choices left. Since the rest of the food had been so good, and the atmosphere was pleasant, I ended up adding a dessert to my meal. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting, since our tour guide helped me order it based on seeing it at another table, but I think it was some sort of chestnut cream dessert. It wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be (it was thicker than it had appeared, and had some fruit involved that I wouldn’t have expected), but it was tasty overall, and I liked it well enough. Overall, our lunch at Le Bistrot du Bord de l’Eau was very nice. We really enjoyed the food and the Burgundy countryside setting, and we’d be happy to come back again if we are ever in the area.More
Cher Monsieur, We really want to thank you for taking time to send us this very message after your lunch at Bistrot du Bord de l'Eau. It was a real pleasure to welcome you during your wine tour for this lunch. Jambon Persillé & Escargots...More
The restaurant is a softly lit but the welcome is very warm. The service was exemplary and attentive but never intrusive. Good English spoken by all members of staff who were very willing to clarify some aspects of the menu which was written in French....The Jambon Persillé as the starter was just fabulous - a typical Burgundy dish, this was followed by confit duck leg of which the meat was succulent in Pinot Noir jus perfect as well as duck pieces in gnocchi and lentil sauce which was delightful. The cheese plate was beautifully presented and each cheese character explained - the mark of the restaurant is when the staff explain the order to eat the cheese in without asking them. All the above was accompanied with freshly baked wholemeal bread and local butter. A well priced Fleurie complemented the entire meal. Elodie the restaurant Maître d' had a good sense of humour and ensured everyone was served well by all the staff.More

We tried all afternoon to book a restaurant in Beaune and this was the only place left with availability. We understand why now. Eventhough we had a nice table outside and the staff was friendly the food was very average. It felt like a mass...production, very limited choices and bland and overpriced food. The wine was very expensive too.More
Thank you for taking the time to send us your comment. We are very sorry that you did not appreciate your dinner in our little Bistrot. Our one star Chef is supervising the kitchen from our Bistrot, everything is cooked in our kitchen, no mass...More
Staying at the Relais and arrived early so had lunch in the Bistro. As we had booked in the evening at the Gourmet restaurant we wanted a light lunch but the menu only had 3 course choices. So we asking for just an entree and...this was just fine with the waitress. The Tempura Prawns were perfect for us with some beautiful local brown bread crusts. Loved it and they could not have been more accommodating.More
