Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pub is newly redecorated. The refurb is great. An ambitious Valentines evening meal all executed beautifully with the added loveliness of canapés and complimentary Fizz . So lovely to see a pub thriving and trying new things, I would urge everyone to get behind...the Windwhistle and support them... you won't be disappointed.More

I visited here last September and vowed never to come back but I’m glad I tried it again. The food is lovely, Its well put together and thought out pub grub. I gave the “phish” and chips a go and it was different but tasted...lovely. The staffing change was much needed. Jody was the perfect host. She introduced herself when sitting us at our table, she explained everything with knowledge and ease on the menu. She was very busy on her own but still managed to give us enough attention to feel welcome and relaxed. A great new asset. We can’t wait to return and see the renovations that have been going on in the bar and try out the new Tapas menu that Jody kindly showed us. It’s turning back into the Gem it always was.More

Absolutely appalling Sunday carvery only one meat option nothing like a nut roast for vegetarians the potatoes were greasy and dripping with way too much oil they were soggy! The stuffing balls were deep fat fried the carrots looked very sad and way too oily...as well! The gravy was extremely watery! The staff were absolutely shocking there was only 3 people working one in the kitchen and 2 front of house and the woman at the bar had absolutely no clue what was going on basically ignored us when we first came to get a drink and carried on doing other stuff! They didn’t show us to a table and just pointed saying your table is over there somewhere! Didn’t ask us if we wanted anymore drinks or a pudding! They were turning people away because they didn’t have enough food! The toilets were absolutely filthy and not kept on top the hygiene standards! Avoid if possible not worth the money! Won’t be going back there ever again!!More

Myself and 5 family members met at the Wind Whistle to have the buffet breakfast which we found great value for money. The service was friendly, the food well cooked and the atmosphere relaxed, great for young children. The pub is currently under going refurbishments...so look forward to seeing the changes being made. We’ll definitely return for breakfast.More

Work was being conducted int he main bar area, so lunch was in the function room. We were a group of 5, welcomed with smiles and shown to our table. The menu was exciting and the choices were varied, with gluten and dairy free options,...vegetarian and vegan. The staff went out of their way to ensure my order was gluten and dairy free, even checking the ingredients of the homemade piccalilli. Our food was freshly cooked to order, plentiful and delicious. The only downside was the Camembert which was more onion than cheese. The desserts were colourful, huge and delicious. Handmade marshmallows were provided as a gift. Drinks, coffee and a fabulous time for circa £20 per head, not bad at all.More

Traveller beware, heed the warning of others and drive on by to avoid potential disappointment. I came here with my family for a pre booked Christmas meal at £80.00 per head. Standard seafood starter ( poor ) came with basic sliced bread covered with what...tasted and looked like margarine. The main course was a carvery style affair which included a meagre serving of processed turkey joint ( no real succulent free range bird ) hard dry Yorkshire pudding, rock hard cauliflower cheese, poor parsnips, sad carrots, tiny uniformly processed stuffing balls, dubious sprouts the only greens, all accompanied by real bland thin gravy. Nothing seemed to have just been recently prepared for serving, but kept warm. We may have received the previous sittings unused quota. I was unable to come close finishing my main course, My dear dad paid out for this and I his son would have been verbal had it not been Christmas Day. I don’t understand how can you get it so wrong, good catering is not rocket science. It is also a classic example of a very inequitable deal pulled on a trusting public. Look at their ratings, not so hot. If you make an effort, offer quality & service you generally get 5 stars. So dear traveller if you see their sign do like others and drive on.More
