Lovely, well stocked community run shop supplying all of your day to day requirements. Most other villages would be envious.

Great place to stop for refreshments when cycling/walking in this hilly part of West Dorset/East Devon. We were passing through from Axminster to Blandford & came across it by chance. Run voluntarily by villagers who serve home baked cakes with large pots of tea as well as having a well stocked shop. Situated on a quiet lane close to the... More

Staying near Thorncombe during a week's break, we were delighted to find the Village Shop which was so fresh, well stocked and inviting. The quality was exceptional, and we could not resist sitting down to a cream tea with scones that were freshly made. This shop is largely manned by local volunteers who take great pride in the goods they... More

We were on our monthly AVP cycle and stopped here for our pit stop cuppa , we had phoned ahead to warn them we were coming as there were 15 of us, and there were already 2 here ahead of us so total of 17 . They were very polite and helpful and coped very well with our orders. The... More

After a recent visit to relations in Thorncombe we called in at the local shop the only one in the village, which also incorporates a post office and a cafe, this place is a lifeline to the villagers as the nearest bigger place would be crewkerne or chard.

Nice mix of local produce and everyday items. A little expensive but normal prices for a village shop I can only compare it to Winsham shop as this is the only other one I have visited in the area. The coffee is good and the staff are friendly.

Manned by friendly staff this community shop is well stocked and even does light snacks and coffee. We regularly stop here on cycle runs from Chard and on a sunny day you can sit outside on the decking opposite the church and watch the world go by. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely community run shop, that provides all the essentials for day to day needs, from household goods to beers and wines. There is a lot of local produce on sale, so it is fresh and tasty as well as having a wide selection. A post office service is available two mornings a week and the shop itself... More

My husband and I and our three grown up sons (all in their 40's!) stayed in a cottage in Thorncombe in May this year and belatedly I wanted to say how welcome we were made at this lovely village shop. We had several sits with coffee and chats with locals and my youngest son, who was over from the States,... More
