This is a great traditional country pub with tables kept very clean and real ale on tap. It was the wife’s birthday and we wanted an early meal somewhere where we could take our dogs. We rang to book a table and being a Wednesday it was quite quiet so no problem with getting in. Lovely friendly owner/staff welcomed us and throughout our meal we had a chat with them. They were happy to adapt the menu to suit our needs. Fish cakes, sea bass and steak were all cooked to perfection with decent size portions. Menu prices are very reasonable and I would expect it to get busy at the weekend. It’s a shame we are moving away from the area as it’s definitely worth a visit

We had dinner at this pub and it was so good we went back the next night too. All four meals were excellent - duck confit, tagliatelle, burger, and a fish platter. The chef clearly knows what s/he is doing, the waiting and bar staff were friendly, the other patrons (mostly locals from what we could tell) were friendly too. Prices were reasonable. We’d definitely go back if we were in the area again.

Stopped here on the way to watch a football match at Staplehurst Monarchs. The beer was fantastic and one of the best pints of Harveys I have had, the welcome you got was excellent and the took the time to explain the tin of Tuna and Spam that they have there (i wont spoil it). will definitely return, we didnt eat but a few plates went past us and they looked lovely . Dog Friendly loads of street parking thank you

Having spent a wonderful Sunday morning at Headcorn we decided to support local business and have lunch at a local pub. We called in at The Bell and Jorrocks Most tables inside were empty at this time, with 2 benches occupied outside. I was informed that they were fully booked but would ask in the kitchen. The polite young waitress said we could have a bench outside, I ordered some drinks and returned to the bar and ordered our sandwiches presuming they wouldn't take long. Then the long wait began.... we were left sitting outside for 45 minutes, with no sign of lunch and watched customers come along eat food and and leave. My husband went to the bar to ask when our food might be coming, the barman answered "soon". When asked how long it takes to make a sandwich the barman replied "I can always cancel your order", and so the wait continued. 10 minutes later the landlady came outside brandishing our plates. Instead of offering an apology which one would expect after such a long delay, she stood there holding our food and told my husband he was rude to her barman because he asked how long the food would be and because she had 'fitted us in'. She then began talking about problems in the service industry. As she continued her outburst our little girl started to cry because of the way she was speaking to my husband. I very calmly told her that she needed to stop and to go away. We were just left stunned by her behaviour. We feel this type of service is totally unacceptable. Firstly, a restaurant should not 'fit in' bookings if they do not have the staff to cater for them and the kitchen is already under pressure. At the very least the guests should be told from the outset to expect long delays. If they had communicated this in the beginning we would simply have dined elsewhere. No customer should have to wait almost an hour for a sandwich and then made to feel thankful that the food arrived at all. I went to the bar and paid £29.50 for 2 sandwiches, 2 soft drinks and 1 pint of Guinness and the most awful lunch experience we've ever had. We left as my daughter was still so upset by this experience I didn't want this person re--appearing outside to upset her again. Having been to so many other wonderful dining establishments in Kent which have provided outstanding service and great food this has only served to highlight how appalling the service was that we received at The Bell and Jorrocks.

A nice village pub in a lovely setting. We were a group of walkers and looking forward to our lunch. Two ladies chose the sharing charcuterie platter and the rest ordered baguettes. The baguettes were very good and great value served with chips & salad. Sadly the sharing platter for £11.95 was tiny and really feed only one. I think staffing might have been an issue as we had to wait nearly an hour for our food.

Another great takeaway Sunday roast dinner. Everything was just as it should be for a really tasty meal. When you phone your order in you arrange the pick up time and it is a simple case of parking and collecting your delicious food. Nothing could be easier. Well done, and thank you, Bell and Jorrocks.

My dad had just taken a trip in a Spitfire at Headcorn Aerodrome and we were looking for a decent pub lunch to celebrate. This turned out to be a little gem. The standard of the food was excellent - all four of us had delicious and varied meals so there was great consistency. My mum also appreciated being able to order smaller portions, which is really handy if you're not that hungry or eyeing up three courses! If you're in the area it's definitely one to try.

Great local pub with delicious food. Hubby enjoyed his beef and onion pie and I can highly recommend the tenderloin of pork with mustard mash, seasonal greens and apple & cream sauce. I only wish I'd ordered the bigger portion! Will definitely return when in the area.

Had Easter Sunday lunch at Bell & Jorrocks after visiting Sissinghurst Castle. Staff were very friendly called to change our booking time which was agreed without any issue. Good variety menu and my wife and I both went for the roast sirloin which was perfectly cooked as were the good selection of vegetables. Reasonable price as were the drinks. Staff very very polite and helpful will definitely visit again.

Visited this delightful pub whilst on a walk from Sisdinghurst; received a very friendly greeting. The pub was clean and tidy and without the annoyance of background music. A good range of beers and lagers were on offer, and a fantastic traditional pub menu. I had a very good Hamm egg and chips (home baked ham) and my wife had an enviable portion of freshly battered fish. We have already started to recommend this pub to others as we will certainly be returning soon.

Not knowing this area at all we took a risk and booked this pub for lunch, what a stroke of luck that was. From entering the establishment to leaving we had a wonderful experience. The publican and staff were friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared, presented and cooked you can't ask for more. The place was clean and the decor perfect. It felt like a good welcoming local pub which I imagine it is. We had fish & chips (supposed to be cod but more a whale!) and lamb burger following smoked mackerel pate for starter. Can't tell you about dessert as we were full up.

Rosie and Sean are marvellous hosts, the food is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. What more could you want? An exceptional venue? Well, you've got that as well because this is a good Kent traditional village pub. With friends we went for Sunday lunch. We all had the Sunday Roast which was excellent; well presented, extremely tasty and plenty to eat. The desserts were just as good. The whiskey-soaked berries were very aptly described. Can recommend the Bell & Jorrocks to anyone looking for somewhere great for drinks and food.

With Kent in Tier 3, this is the place to go to get your takeaway meals. We had the Sunday Roast Lunch. The beef was cooked to a turn and delicious and so were the vegetables. All ordered with the minimum of fuss; ready at the time we wanted and served by a very friendly host. No doubt, we will be back and will also try a meal from the rest of the menu. Not only is there take away food but there is also a shop for those items you may suddenly find you need.

Visited this lovely historic village pub with my U3A Pubs Pies and Pints group. 10 of us sat at one big table which was nice. 8 of us had steak and ale pie which was very tasty. Sean the Landlord was a brilliant host and gave us an informal chat about the pub’s history. Very very nice lunch.

Excellent food, excellent friendly, helpful staff, excellent atmosphere and excellent value for money - what more could you want? With friends we went for Sunday lunch. My wife had a traditional roast beef dinner, I had the gammon. Both were excellent; my wife said the beef just melted in her mouth. The desserts were just as excellent. My wife is Gluten Free but this did not cause any problems whatsoever. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a traditional pub with excellent food.
